Marilou I know 🙂 my comment was trying to figure out hjbau’s assesment that everything happened over and over again….I understand hjbau’s point of view, but, like Stephen King’s The Dark Tower ending… *SPOILER* each time, The Gunslinger did one thing different, which led him to another level of the tower- just after getting his memory back and realizing he’d done this all before – he was sent back to square one and didn’t remember doing it – he started his journey over again as if for the first time…he still had to ‘go back’ because he still had not gotten it quite right. Our beloved LOSTies did something right in order to be able to let go…finally move on…have an ending…….
[adrotate group="5"]🙂 It’s all good…Theorizing about LOST can get a bit tedious….simply because it was purposely ambiguos and left open to interpretation…I don’t know if I’m right, I just know what I got from it….I’m sure 100 different ppl will have 100 different thoughts….except for ‘haters’ who hated the ending and thought they were all dead the whole time lol (that’s what we call them in my LOST..I GOT IT group 🙂
Yeah, they didn’t die after the bomb went off in 1977, they went back to the present time on the island. I think Kate was in a tree Juliet was in the blown up hatch, etc. The bomb did not create the flash sideways. That is why the flash sideways is not really a sideways, it is a flash forward and is the future for the characters like Jack went there to the afterlife, after he died on the island, but then some characters like Kate went there after they lived and died later on off the island.
There would be no loop because that is not what the wheel was doing. The wheel was moving the island through time and the bomb moved the losties through time as well though not the island. I think because our losties were there at the time that the wheel got messed up that they were the ones that were moving through time while everyone else was not. At lest that makes sense to me.
The so called flash sideways is a flash forward. When you die, you step out of time, so while everyone started being in the flash sideways at the same moment, that does not mean they died at the same moment. It is just they died and were outside of time, so they were all together in the place of waiting.
I am not sure what you are asking about moving on because that is more about the peace they were trying to figure out for the characters and whether or not they were ready to let go of what happened in their lives.
Time is linear in LOST though, but like Marilou said with a detour in 1977 for a few of the characters.

that is the parallel I saw in Regina locking away the book instead of burning it. Not long after voluntarily giving up heroin, Charlie finds one of the virgin Mary statue. He kept one over a very long period of time before being completely ready to toss those statue away. both characters are testing themselves.
I like that, Marilou. I noticed some things LOST related in S1, as well. Other than the fun little visual nods (Apollo bars, McCutheon Whiskey…)….seemed like Gold pulled a “long con” on Emma in Desperate Souls. Emma and August’s conversation at the well was reminiscent of Jack/Locke – Man of Science/Man of Faith.
Keeping the LOST references together- Lancelot called the meal ‘Chimera’…Midas said the same thing in The Shephard about where to hang the Dragon’s head- “…Between the Chimera and the Mapanguari”…both LOST nods
Geronimo Jackson -probably the biggest/most important LOST tie in so far. Geronimo Jackson is a fictitious band, created for LOST by K&H, based on the Grateful Dead. Emma has a GJ sticker on her car, there was a GJ CD in the contents of Henry’s backpack in the finale and Neal Cassady (NY City guy) has a GJ sticker on his cell phone.
Neal Cassady was the inspiration for Jack Kerouac’s Dean Moriarty in “On The Road”.
Dean Moriarty was the name used on at least 2 of Ben Linus’ passports on LOST.Neal Cassady made a movie/documentary with the Grateful Dead “Magic Trip”…Neal drove the the bus (named) ‘Further’ from San Fran to NY and earned the nick name ‘Cowboy Neal’
The Dead wrote a song about Neal and the trip “The Other One”…some of the lyrics are: “Cowboy Neal, at the wheel,on the bus to Never Never Land.”
The Dead also wrote another song in honor of Neal after he passed away “Cassidy” (spelled diff for a reason that isn’t important to this post).
Sawyer’s baby – momma was Cassidy Phillips on LOST.NY City is where the Peter Pan Bus Company is based and has been since the 1930’s.
There’s also a famous bakery in NY – Peter Pan Pastries.These are some of the reason’s that lead me to think Neal (aka NYC guy) is Peter Pan.
Given the fact that I am totally on board with TheGoldenKey’s theory (and have been since she came up with it in February) that Bae is PP and Henry’s father, and her theory was the inspiration for me to look into these clues and connections: Neal Cassady (aka NYC guy) is actually Bae, who is also PP and at the same time, Henry’s father.
Emma, Henry and Neal are the only 3 ppl to have the Geronimo Jackson connection.
I think Bae is going to turn out to be Neal/PP/Henry’s dad.
