Was if me or was there an awful lot of hints of Dr. Frankenstein also being the Wizard of Oz?

Well the thing about calling him a great and powerful Wizard? How about Jefferson saying they were off to see him? Just saying…

I didn’t catch any hints. What were the ones you spotted?

The only Oz thing I saw was Rumple asking Jefferson about the slippers, and Regina/Jefferson referring to him as a wizard.

There’s another thread that’s just about this I don’t want to completely hijack this one lol. I heard Jefferson say great and powerful so I’ll have to look at it again to list everything but they also mention it in the podcast today.

I wrote the other thread where someone theorized that Whale is also the Wizard of Oz that I picked up on that, also. He was mentioned as a wizard multiple times and here is the convesation referencing Oz:

Jefferson: I got what you wanted. [presenting a crystal ball to Rumple]

    Rumple: What about the slippers?

Jefferson: Oh, couldn’t find ’em. Heard talk they’ve already been moved to another land.

Rumple: That’s what I needed to get to that other land.

Jefferson: Well, come with me in my hat, I’m sure we can work something out.

Rumple: No. No. Your hat only transports between magical realms. I need to get to a land without magic.

Jefferson: Why would anyone want that?

    Rumple: My business.

Jefferson: You want the ball or not?

    Rumple: Mm…yes

    .

The Wicked Witch of the West had a crystal ball. It could be hers and the slippers are her sister’s that Dorothy took. The reference that Jefferson made about hearing they’ve moved to another land and Rumple saying he needed them to get to that land is totally referring to Dorothy. She took the slippers back with her to Kansas (even if she didn’t in the real story), which is in a land without magic, and Rumple needs to get to that land.

That’s alot of Oz references for one episode, which makes me agree with the theory that Whale may be the Wizard of Oz, too. He, too, used technology, and you could say science, to fool the people into thinking he was magical.

Looks like we might be visiting Oz someday.

Keeper of Rumplestiltskin's and Neal's spears and war paint and crystal ball.

Wow, I totally heard “Stipend” and I was like “Uh… what?” Nice hearing! So Jefferson went to The Land of Oz to retrieve both the witch/wizard’s crystal and Ruby Slippers… But he was too late and Dorothy had already used them to get back to Kansas – our world… Good assist on the timeline.

EDIT: Whoops, was beaten to it.

I’m thinking that Rumpel needed the ruby slippers for making a particular cloak.

He said he needed them to get to another world, so I don’t think that’s quite right hahaha. And we know the slippers bring Dorothy back to Kansas/Real-World.

YES! Dear God but I do love how K&H can weave stories together like this! Who knew that the Mad Hatter was in Oz just after Dorothy had left and that Rumplestiltskin wanted the famous slippers. So fun! 😀

I sorta hope that the Wizard of Oz is only the Wizard of Oz, and not also Frankenstein, but now that I think about it, it could work. We didn’t see Jefferson go to get Victor in this ep. We saw Jefferson happen to run into Regina at just the right time to offer to hook her up with Victor, but later, it turned out that the whole thing was a setup by Rumple to turn Regina into a monster. Maybe Rumple had sent Jefferson to Oz with a shopping list: crystal ball, magical slippers, Wizard. And he brought back 2 out of the 3, though in that initial scene, he was only seen to hand over 1, because it was all part of the ruse to corrupt Regina.
