Oh and does this mean that The Dark One is destroyed too? Cause I thought that was impossible or something. But we didn’t see any darkness escape when Wumple died and did Wumple somehow remove the darkness from Rumple when he hand-waved him mortal? That was easy. If only someone had thought to just make a wish earlier.

I get where you’re coming from with most of your Rumple post. Resetting him has always been their default position (sorta like with Emma). But I don’t agree with the quote above. They had a complicated relationship but it’s also been a father/daughter, student/mentor kind. They’ve used each other, threatened each other, but also helped and supported each other and think of each other as family even if it’s like, super complicated.
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"May 19, 2018 at 8:30 am #347494hjbauParticipantI think for as much as Rumpel and Regina are able to actually have a person, that they were that for each other. They were each others oldest friends. It is unfortunate that they didn’t give a goodbye scene between Rumpel and Regina.
I do agree that there have been many occasions where Rumpel has sacrificed for the family. Especially at the end of 3A, but this was the best dialogue surrounding it all, for me. I think that they never knew what to do with any of the characters after a big moment happened. They were constantly rewriting them to have new personalities throughout the seasons. They never wanted to do the hard work of actual change. It was always tell and not show. At least, Rumpel was the most consistent character his only major inconsistency being when he took that potion at the end of 3B.
Though, i don’t really think that the family should have welcomed any of the villains into the family. At least, they never got there for me with either Regina, Zelena, Hook, or Rumpel. They could have, but they didn’t. They just wrote them in, so not letting Rumpel in was fine with me. Though, i completely agree that he has done nothing worse then what the other three villains have done, so if they can be part of the family, then so should he. It was definitely an inconsistency.

I actually agree with bibliophile although I did love that scene. Regina and Rumple had that relationship through season 3 but after that Regina was all about being in the hero club and did not have Rumple’s back once. She even went along in season 5 and stated that if Rumple dies then that was a chance they were going to have to take. Rumple tried to reach out to Regina several times and give her advice and she totally rejected him. Even in season 7 she made a throw away statement in the EF2 that he was just being Rumple. After Bae’s death Rumple was completely isolated from everyone but Belle and don’t get me wrong he was being a stinker most of the time, but even when he wasn’t Regina really did not have much if any relationship with him. I think they tried to show some relationship in HH but we did not see enough of it to satisfy. I am glad that deep down Regina did have some friendship/love for Rumple but really it did feel a little odd because we have not seen that kind of relationship in so long.
