That is a good idea. Then there at least would still be the connection.

I remember when “The Return” came back there was a commercial for some car company and it had Gulliver tied down and he had brown hair and brown eyes and I knew from spoilers that “The Return” was going to deal with August and Gold and Bae, so I thought it was part of the show for about five seconds and I squealed “Oh my god, Bae is Gulliver!” and then the rest of the commercial played. 😕
The only other character I can think of is Prince Eric. Deals with the water, his friend Grim in the Disney version was a physician. Maybe they made him an assistant or trainee in FTL and happened upon Ariel and helped her.
He could be anybody. I just don’t think he’s Monstro.
Keeper of Rumplestiltskin's and Neal's spears and war paint and crystal ball.

Question.
Have we actually met the Duke of the frontlands?See, I thought the Duke was the guy who took Morraine (“She’ll ride with me”) and forced Rumplestiltskin to kiss his boot and was later killed by him. But my younger brother pointed out, ‘why would the Duke be riding around doing stuff his servants and knights would be doing? Did they ever actually call him the Duke?’ and I thought, hm, good point.
And then, during the scene when Rumplestiltskin broke into the castle, my younger brother looked at the tapestries.
Him: What is on that crest? A fish?”
Me: I dunno. A whale?
*pause*
Him: NO WAY.
Me: IMPOSSIBLE.
Us: CAN’T BE. NO WAY. It’s…it’s…yes.
.There is the difficulty of the Duke of the Frontlands being centuries old, but what if he were cursed as a whale (Monstro) by Rumpel to live in an altered state for a long time?! 😮 Just an interesting theory.

July 15, 2012 at 4:22 am #151923zlfh4Participantok so even though i would love for my theory to be right about him being monstro there is also another possibility now….He could be Captain Hook who will apparently be showing up next season..but I would say he is definetely one or the other..He could have been transformed to Monstro and then turned back later on to become Captain Hook or vice versa..who knows? I have to hand it to the writers though I thought it was an impossibility to have Captain Hook because of property rights but apparently not…Have to say season 2 looks like it is going to be awesome!!!

July 19, 2012 at 1:04 pm #152252PheeParticipantHope we get some clues about him early on in the season. We know he’s in the first episode, I wonder if people will still be calling him Dr Whale, or if they’ll all be using their FTL names? Guess they wouldn’t give up his identity that easily though, huh? They definitely said they’re casting someone new for Prince Phillip, didn’t they? Not that I can think of any link between Prince Phillip and marine animals, or think of any reason why Prince Phillip would be in league with Regina in our world, or how anything we’ve seen from him would hint at him being Prince Phillip. But we haven’t heard anything about the actor who’ll play Prince Phillip, have we? We just know he’ll be in episode 1, which they’ve already begun filming, so wouldn’t you think they’d have announced, or it would have leaked out, who’s playing him by now? I’m probably wrong, coz it’s a totally random theory, which I hadn’t even thought about before a couple of minutes ago when I started typing this post. LOL
July 20, 2012 at 12:26 am #152280hjbauParticipantJiminy Cricket was in league with Regina in Storybrooke and i would consider him with the good guys so i am not sure that Dr. Whale being in league with Regina really proves he is a bad guy. I mean he could be, but not necessarily.
