Also, Matt pointed this out to me last night, but they have, in the past, referenced the deleted scenes in the actual canon-show (that which airs live). So….how does that stack up with canon??

I honestly don’t see any other reason why he’d just suddenly decide this.
(If that deleted scene of young Rumple watching his father get killed in ‘Manhattan’ had made the Season 2 deleted scenes, I feel like he would have been saying this a long time ago).
August 16, 2016 at 10:05 am #326621MatthewPaulModeratorAs I told RG last night, regardless of what Adam says, I think it’s best to still think of the deleted scenes as headcanon until contradicted otherwise in future episodes. Like RG said, I doubt the majority of them will be contradicted anyway.

Maaaaaybe but I’ve seen them all and I keep as up to date on spoilers as anyone, and I seriously can’t think of any deleted scene that contradicts anything going on in S6. At least not to the extent that they need to, at the drop of a hat, literally overnight, un-canon the whole of the deleted scenes from all the DVDs.

This is a terrible decision on A&E’s part amidst a sea of bad decisions. No wonder RC wants to leave after season 6. I think several others may be jumping ship too. This is the beginning of the end of OUAT unless season 6 does something so spectacular that it reignites the passion from both fans and the cast alike.

Authorized sneak peeks from major media outlets such as EW and TVLine are fine. The extras are intended for people who actually purchased the DVD/Blu-Ray for themselves, so it’s understandable that Disney doesn’t want them posted online in full. Disney owns the show, so they are within their full right to do so, and we must respect their wishes. [MOD NOTE]

This started after Adam was questioned about one scene, when some CS fans told him that the last seconds of a scene contradicts one scene in 512 and after that Adam decided to say that the deleted scenes were not canon, while promoting the DVD/Blu ray.
But like i said before, deleted scenes in this show or in any show, should not be canon, bc GA that doesnt buy DVd/bluray, should get what they see and not need to buy extra stuff to know more about the story.
The same goes with books, that they should follow Star wars and Star trek example, books are not canon until being confirmed on the movies or by the creators, even tho they are official merchandising of both brands.
Also, does that mean that the Cruella scene is not canon as well??
August 16, 2016 at 9:34 pm #326672Bar FarerParticipantI honestly don’t care if the deleted scenes are canon or not, what bothers is that they constantly change their decision to whether make them canon or not without giving them any serious thought.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Adam said they were canon in order to get more people buying the DVDs, then decided to change his mind because people told him how some of the scenes contradict what happened on the show. However, in my opinion, it doesn’t matter anymore because the show contradict itself and doesn’t make sense anymore with or without the deleted scenes.
In addition, I’ve never heard of a show where deleted scenes AND book tie ins are considered canon (with the exception of tv series continuing in the form of comics like Buffy- which is not the same thing).
