I actually read that as good news for us. She helped launch Once Upon a Time. So in a way it’s like one of her golden children. And also with the family relation, she may be more lenient to it.
It doesn’t matter. If the ratings keep falling and the ad $$ leaves, then it gets cancelled. She can’t save cause “favorite.” I mean, that’s more or less what Paul Lee did with Galavant and….look how that worked out. Based on S5 ratings. we’re going to get a S6. That’s all we can do: one season at a time

While the ratings are relatively good, 1.3-1.5 is not a good lead in for a night and it won’t give a chance to new shows that will air after OUAT, just as we saw this year with Blood and Oil and Quantico.

I’m not so sure where else they could really air it. Once Upon a Time is considered a “family show” (yes, I’m aware that could be debated, due to what the show has depicted and gotten away with, but it has a TV-PG rating as opposed to TV-14 or TV-MA. Plus, it still has the Disney connection), and 8pm Sundays is considered a safe timeslot for family shows. Quantico actually got better ratings than Blood & Oil, despite airing an hour later. The bigger problem ABC has with 9pm is The Walking Dead airing at that time, so they would be sealing Once Upon a Time’s death warrant by moving it there, if that were considered an option. Not to mention, to put it bluntly, a majority of ABC’s failed shows were just of terrible quality to begin with. Anyway, here are the other nights:
Mondays: Reality shows like the Bachelor and Dancing with the Stars, followed by Castle at 10pm. I can’t see OUAT as a 10pm show.
Tuesdays: 8pm is a comedy block, followed by Agents of SHIELD at 9pm, and another drama at 10pm. Still can’t see OUAT airing at 10pm.
Wednesdays: ABC’s main comedy night, and it is the most stable night of the week. They won’t fix what isn’t broken. The only weakness is their 10pm slot (currently occupied by American Crime and Nashville), but again can’t see OUAT as a 10pm show.
Thursdays: Devoted to their TGIT block of Shonda shows. Yeah TGIT is weakening, but I’m not so sure ABC would give up on it yet either. Grey’s especially works in that 8pm timeslot, which used to be a deathslot for several years. Once Upon a Time in Wonderland aired in that timeslot a few years ago, and was an immediate ratings failure.
Fridays: 8pm is occupied by comedy shows with Last Man Standing and Dr. Ken. Both do adequate jobs for Friday shows, and will likely continue. 9pm is Shark Tank, and there’s no way ABC is moving that when it does so well. 10pm is off limits completely, as that’s devoted to ABC New’s long occupied program 20/20.February 20, 2016 at 8:04 am #317282RumplesGirlKeymasterWhile I don’t think that OUAT will be cancelled, I won’t be surprised if they move the show to a different night. That I don’t see happening. It’s the most successful Sunday show they’ve had in years.

Once co-creator Adam Horowitz says he still remembers the conversation he and Kitsis had with Dungey after their first table read. “Channing looked at us and said, ‘This is yours to lose.’ Like, I’ve done everything on my end, this is ready to go, it’s up to you guys to bring it home,” he says, with Kitsis adding, “It was terrifying, encouraging and honest all at once.”

February 26, 2016 at 2:41 pm #317745RumplesGirlKeymasterQuestion: Will the ABC executive transition lead to the network cleaning house with limping dramas such as Castle, Nashville and maybe even Once Upon a Time? – Emily
Matt Roush: It’s inevitable that there will be significant changes in ABC’s lineup come fall, but the crystal ball is a bit cloudy because the new head of entertainment, Channing Dungey, was already in charge of the network’s drama development side, so she’ll likely have to sacrifice shows she was intimately involved in. Hard to imagine a perpetual bubble show like Nashville making the cut again, and Castle appears to be at or near the end of its rope, though ABC needs more mainstream procedural tentpoles like this on the schedule, so it could get one more reprieve (though whether it deserves it in another matter), depending on the talent. Once Upon a Time is probably safe for now, in part because of its tie-in with popular Disney fantasy brands and the stability it brings to a transitioning Sunday lineup. Hard to say how this shake-up may affect ABC’s successful family-comedy brand. You might see it go broader, and we obviously will have seen the last of The Muppets after next week’s finale.
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"March 1, 2016 at 10:56 pm #317813kranenParticipantI’ve gotta say, I definitely think something is going on behind the scenes at ABC with ONCE. Besides the fact that there has been barely any promotion for it’s return, it’s now safe to say that we definitely aren’t even getting a recap special before it’s return. This is the first time since Season 2 that we haven’t gotten one and being the 100th episode, you’d think that it’d be the one that makes the most sense to air a special before hand.
