My obvious guess would be August..since he’s already dying and Emma may still not believe by the end of season 1.

I was watching the promo again and Henry going off about Snow. I know that Regina is asking Henry to leave Snow’s class, but it made me worry for a second that Henry might give away who Emma is. I don’t think he will. I was just thinking be careful what you say Henry.
What if they kill Snow or Charming? That would be awful.

I agree. If for “major” character..they mean part of the regular credited cast…then if they choose one I hope they choose August. Anyone else I’ll probably be throwing stuff at the tv. 😯
What about August? He seems like the kind of person who would sacrifice himself in order to make Emma believe or help her break the curse.

For the death to be “completely majorly shocking”, it’s got to be one of the main characters, someone who we think is safe because they are a main character. The possibilities are:
Emma- Unlikely. She is the protagonist of the piece, all the other characters are either her allies, foes or, in Mr Gold’s case, somewhere in between. If we consider the show to be a story within itself: Once upon a time an evil queen cast a curse…..blah blah blah……fairytale characters lose their happy endings…..blah blah blah….. who can save them?…..etc. If we go with the theory that the show is telling a story in the style of a fairytale then Emma is going to stay alive and “live happily ever after” eventually.
Snow White/Mary Margaret- In the promo for the next episode Henry says to Regina “Snow White will have her happy ending” and we all assume that will eventually happen but if Snow White was to die, it would throw a spanner completely in the works, it would be so unexpected and would be a real what the hell? moment.
Charming/David- Similar to snow White, everyone expects these two to make it so it would definitely be interesting to see what would happen if one of them didn’t survive.
Rumpelstiltskin/ Mr Gold- In every Rumpel centric episode they keep mentioning he’s a coward and I can’t help but wonder if this is meant to be significant. A coward will always save themselves before others so perhaps Rumpel’s final act could be to save a loved one such as Belle at the cost of his own life. (on a side note, does anyone think Rumpel could also be the cowardly lion from Oz similar to how he is the Beast from Beautyand the Beast? Oz isn’t my strongest area of knowledge but wasn’t the lion cowardly all throughout the story, was considered cowardly by himself and others until the end where he became brave?)
Henry- Wasn’t the point of Henry to introduce Emma to what was happening in StoryBrooke. He will have served his purpose once Emma believes. He is Emma’s happy ending, to live “happily ever after” with her son. If he were to die, it would turn Emma’s world upside down again. Who’s to say his death would be caused by a significant event, it could simply be he runs across the road without looking and is hit by a car and die. There would be no purpose to his death but it would have an effect on both Emma and Regina. It would be out of the blue, just happens and everyone would be like “I can’t believe they killed Henry!”
Evil Queen/Regina- “Good will always defeat evil” but does Regina’s death have to be part of that defeat?
The season will end with one of two scenarios. Either:
The curse is broken but……….
or
The curse isn’t broken however….The question is where can the characters stories go after this season ends. This season is mainly based around Regina and Snow White so what happens if the curse is broken? Some characters like Rumpel and Regina need to go with a bang rather than a whimper. If Regina was to survive, what would happen to her? Would she remain a main character or would she be relegated to the sidelines? Likewise with Rumpel. Questions questions, so many questions!
Hmmm with that it kind of helps me narrow it down, I don’t think Emma will die you can’t kill the hero of the series when you expect to have a season 2. Snow & Charming kind of in the same boat & due to the spoiler pics & video I’ll say they’re safe. Regina now I don’t think it’ll be all that shocking her dying since they’ve beat that to death in the promos. August we’ve already heard he’s dying so that takes away the shock value. Now Rumple & Henry these are the two most likely possibilities Henry would have done his part his family will have believed by this season. Every where you go with this story you can go without him. It would be a big hit to Emma shocking they would go there, but I’m not sure it can carry the other factor of will it stick as much as Rumple dying. Rumplestiltskin has turned for me into a real anti-hero, I can see it shaping up to where he has to sacrifice himself for good. Also I think you can think of ways to bring him back if you wanted to and it’ll have us all debating for months whether it’s gonna stick or not. So yup right now I’m gonna say Rumplestiltskin will die in the finale!

According to Ginnifer Goodwin that’s where the went with it, someone dies that’ll make you throw something at the tv it’s gonna really make the summer long!
I have a left field theory. What if the character that dies is not any of the ones we are naturally focusing on.
What if it is GRANNY that dies? It could be of natural causes or she remembers FTL and the shock sends her into a heart attack. I know she is not a “major” character but she is one of those endearing characters that people will be sad to lose.
It would certainly be devastating for Ruby, but at end of Red Handed, Granny did say Ruby would inherit the diner and likely the inn. It would be conceivable for the writers to explore how Ruby adapts to taking over for Granny in Season 2.

It’s just that they way that the character is described is it has to be a main character Granny dying would be sad but it’s not throw my shoe at the screen frustrating that’s what everything’s pointing to.
I personally think the only death that would be so “shocking” on the show is Henry’s. Everyone else I’m positive is safe, or at the very least them dying wouldn’t be a shock at all. But killing off poor Henry after all he’s done to make his mother believe in the curse of Storybrooke, now THAT would indeed be shocking and make viewers wanna throw things at their television.
