Awhile back Phee postulated that Mermaids can exist in many realms and that the ocean can be a portal to many lands. I have no doubt that mermaids exist in FTL but there is also NO doubt that traditionally they exist in Neverland. And I think given the title of the last two episodes and ALLLLLLL the hints to NL this season, I think it’s more likely we end up in NL. The comment Regina made to Rumple in Skin Deep doesn’t mean mermaids only exist in FTL.
I like this! When Rumple talked about places in the ocean so deep that only squids or mermaids could reach it, i was thinking the same things about the oceans possibly connecting the different worlds.
Two things: Can someone tell me what GOAT stands for? I know, I’m behind. lol ๐
Also, someone mention Freya. Who is she?

Freya: will be appearing in the season finale as a character that many of us think is Ariel. But it’s really mysterious because the character she’s playing never got a full casting call. Which I think means she’s super important.

Little Mermaid mythology will be fun to see. Also, RumplesGirl, great hearing you on the podcast. I love following you on here, and hearing your thoughts alongs with Daniels was great! You have good instincts.

Yeah, my thinking on it was that Hook’s ship traveled through the ocean to get from FTL to NL, so in some way, the ocean has to be accessible from both sides, so the creatures who live in it, like mermaids, can be on either side. Then someone else, (sorry I don’t recall who), mentioned how Snow and Emma’s portal traveled through Lake Nostos, and ended up in the well, which is in keeping with that same theme of waters connecting the different worlds.

Ditto. Was it tricky to restrain from saying anything spoilery when you were posing ideas and questions? I can just imagine the temptation to blurt out, “Well from what we’ve heard of the season finale, this is how I interpret this particular scene in Lacey.” ๐

OhMyGold…it. was. so. hard. Because obviously everyone knows that I’m a total spoiler-a-holic and I was trying not to say “yeah but if you’ve seen the BTS for 21 and 22….”

While I really like this idea of there being underwater passageways that connect different worlds, I think it was the addition of magical items (e.g. the magic beans or the ashes from the enchanted wardrobe) to the water, not the water itself, which opened up realm-jumping portals. So, for the mermaids to be able to move freely between NL and the EF, they’d have to have some sort of additional magic to be able to swim through to other lands. Maybe squid ink or some sort of underwater magic kelp could assist in this process.

Mais oui! (I failed French class.) In an upcoming TVLine Q&A, Lana Parrilla has plenty of wonderful things to say (and tease) about the final three episodes, including how the May 12 finale features โa very sobering moment, where the audience will be very surprised to see some characters have to come together, to work together, to save one another.โhttp://www.spoilertv.com/2013/04/latest-from-tvline-various-shows-25th.html
