PS. Freya’s an Aussie. Which means that Once’s Little Mermaid actually comes from Down Under. 😉
This is totally proof that she’s Ariel.

I could be wrong, but think it’s too late in the season to introduce Ariel. The last two episodes are about Neverland- I don’t think Ariel would be in Neverland because last year in “Skin Deep” Regina says something to Rumple about a certain mermaid. Ariel ought to get her own story- not appear as a cameo in someone else’s.

This has been brought up many times so I’ll just give the highlights of the argument.
1) Mermaid Lagoon in Neverland makes perfect sense for Ariel
2) Mermaids can exist in many lands and the “certain mermaid” doesn’t have to refer to Ariel.
3) Phee postulated that water can be a portal, or have portal like things in them, that would allow for cross land travel for mermaids
4) We think Ariel is going to play a huge role in S3 and introducing her now is a way of doing that. It may just be a quick glimpse of her before we get into S3."He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"April 26, 2013 at 3:54 pm #188908HappyEndingsSpectator@AngieBelle wrote:

I thought that too but the interview with Josh he stated a new land so I am guessing NL.
I only watched the Disney version a long time ago but don’t remember her losing her voice ❓

That’s a huge part of the Little Mermaid mythology, actually. In the original tale, the sea witch actually cuts out her tongue (Ariel also dies, but Disney took a decidedly more positive route) and in the Disney version Ursula actually steals her voice and then uses it to entrap Eric, the Prince.

You don’t remember Ariel losing her voice? That’s like a major plot point! She trades her voice to Ursula in order to get legs and be with Prince Eric.
April 26, 2013 at 4:00 pm #188911HappyEndingsSpectatorThat was like over 30 years ago for me, sorry I can’t retain too much old stuff like I use too, I seem to have a lot of senior moments if you know what I mean 😆

In the Disney mythology at least, the Neverland mermaids are all girls, and they are mean. They almost drown Wendy! Ariel lives in a whole ocean kingdom with a father who forbids human contact. The Neverland mermaids bask at the surface all the time and adore Peter Pan.
And while I might be able to buy Ariel being in Neverland, I would be hard pressed to imagine Prince Eric there.
I suppose this new character *could* be Ariel. I’m not saying it’s completely out of the realm of possibility. I’m just rather skeptical.
Incidentally, if you ride the Peter Pan ride at Walt Disney World, they did paint one of the mermaids at the lagoon to look like Ariel!

Could be! But if Mermaids can cross between realms….

Absolutely. But why would Adam and Eddy give us a version we’ve already seen? They haven’t thus far. Maybe they combine the two, or take an entirely new spin on the Mermaids of the Lagoon AND Ariel’s kindgom

Unless he’s an orphaned lost prince *wink wink*

Yup. I can’t remember the exact thread it was posted in, but someone put that picture up awhile back.
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"April 26, 2013 at 4:13 pm #188917angiebelleParticipantWell, I have been wrong in the past- I didn’t think Cora was the Queen of Hearts for the longest time, and I was completely against the idea that Neal had any connection to Neverland (I’m still hoping he isn’t Peter). I am still wondering how he ended up in a land that did have magic after all.
I guess we will have to wait and see!
