I have no idea. But in the recent TVLine interview (thread found here https://oncepodcast.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=91&t=3829) H and K said they are doing PP and NL differently than all other iterations. I have no idea what this means.

What is sad Baelfire holding? In my opinion, it could be a portrait of his mother, Milha, which Hook kept on his ship all these years. Totally didn’t even see the thing Bae was holding. Oh man. I think you’re right, it’s a pic of Milah that Hook has held on to and this is how Hook and Bae find out the truth of each other.

I was too busy being excited over them sharing a scene together that I hadn’t looked at what was in his hand! Tried to zoom in on it, but it’s too pixelated to make anything out any better than in the small version. Also doesn’t help that Dylan’s hand is covering the top part. Judging by their body language, I could see your interpretation being true. Hook pointing to the spot where it happened, and Bae looking with that sad expression. 🙁
The only question I have is, if he already knows how his mother died, why haven’t we seen Nealfire throwing it in Rumple’s face yet? If it were me, the, “YOU KILLED MY MOTHER,” is something I’d wanna get off my chest the first chance I got, especially if I’d been holding it in for a couple hundred years. I guess maybe they just didn’t want to give away that reveal of him knowing as far back as in Manhattan though?

Yes, the TV Guide writer tweeted that that’s a sidebar with info from Colin, and it drops hints about Ariel. Do we know yet when this issue of TV Guide actually comes out? Because I really, really, really need to see that whole part of the article.

The jacket doesn’t look quite as tattered to me, but he could have had the jacket repaired at some point after meeting Wendy. Also, he doesn’t have the white shirt on under it when he first meets Wendy, but when she’s flying out the window, he’s wearing a white shirt, which is probably the one he’s wearing in the pic with Hook. The chunky belt thing in the pic with Hook looks new to me.
So here is my crackpot theory of the morning. Based on the fact that we see PP’s shadow (and how creepy it is) and based on the fact that thus far apparently none of the fans have guessed Neal’s story yet:
What if Bae went to FictionalLondon right after Rumple let go of his hand, but his shadow went to NL and have been causing problems. In the story of PP, the shadow often has a mind of its own and acts out. PP is constantly trying to track it down. So in H and K’s world the shadow was separated from Nealfire when he went through the bean hole.
Crackpot? Yes. But I got nothing else right now.
