The well water is the water from Lake Nostos. It’s the water that brought back Frederick when he’d been turned into a gold statue. It’s the water that brought back Snow’s ability to have children when she’d been made barren by George. It’s the water that brought Snow and Emma back to SB from FTL. And when Mr Gold dropped his vial of true love down the well, it brought back magic. That well water has proven itself as effective.
I agree and even though it was August who physically returned the storybook to Emma, it was only after she drank the water and opened the door a teeny tiny bit to being a believer. I do think the cup (Belle’s talisman) and the water will bring back Belle. And it will be tonight. Rumbelle prayer circle

Cora activated the water when she was in FL so why would Cora or Emma need a compass to get back to SB if that was the case ❓
Also remember magic works differently in SB ❗
May 5, 2013 at 5:02 pm #191151RumplesGirlKeymasterI’m going to play around with this idea because HappyEndings is right that the lake was dried up in Lady of the Lake after the Siren died. But the water was still there somehow/somewhere because Cora activated it and Rumple was able to use it to bring magic.
So I think the water exists in multiple world simultaneously. In mythology, water is always pretty important and has special properties. So I think it can be in our world and in FTL at the same time. It’s a connection between the two which is why it is so effective as a restorer of magic and a portal."He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"May 5, 2013 at 5:15 pm #191155PheeParticipantYes, I agree that it exists between the two worlds somehow, connecting them. What Cora did, I always just saw it as her unplugging a blockage that had kept the water trapped out of sight.

Changing the size of something is associated in a way with Wonderland (small drop to big lake maybe?). I don’t think she could open portals so easily even to call the lake back from other mystical waters.
Does that mean the Siren comes back too?

Good point KF!!!
Also, Gold asked Cora if she knew away to bring back memories and she said no.
I wonder if this is where Emma comes in with her magic for Sneezy, and Belle ❓

No, Charming killed the Siren in “What Happened to Frederick.”

That is because of the potion that he had mixed with water made magic.
Again, why did they need the Compass to return to Storybrook ❓

Because it wasn’t a fully powered portal like when you use a bean They only had a small portion of ashes of the enchanted tree to create the portal with. The compass gave it the extra boost of power it needed to direct them where they wanted to go.
That’s how I’ve always looked at it, anyway.
May 5, 2013 at 5:36 pm #191163HappyEndingsSpectatorCora stated to Hook, don’t let go as you don’t know where you will end up so if since Regina was lost rom Cora it wouldn’t really have matter to let go of the compass if what you are saying then right? ❓ Because without the compass they didn’t know where they would end up, the water was just a tool for the ashes in my opinion.
Remember Gold needed water to activate his potion, and Cora needed water to activate the ashes or restore in her case because the ashes were enchanted and Snow didn’t give Emma a compass when she sent Emma through so I just can’t by the water from this Lake to SB to restore the memories but of course I could be wrong. 😕
