Spoilers for 2×22

Belle stood up to her father then got dragged off to the mines. When Regina interrupted Belle and Rumple’s hamburger date, Belle wanted to leave. It wasn’t until the outsider that Belle started fighting back. She pushed a bookshelf on Hook but then had to call Rumple to help her. Hook then blocked Belle’s escape off his boat after she hit him in the head but luckily Rumple showed up to help her. In FTL, Belle tried to bargain with Regina in order to get back to Rumple but Regina locked her up.

Belle is no damsel in distress, she does make things difficult for those against her, but at the same time she hasn’t really handled situations by herself all the way through. Belle is very non violent whereas Rumple lets his temper get the best of him. When Belle becomes both Lacey and Belle, I think she’ll be a bit more temperamental than she was before. There is a scene coming up where Belle is with Rumple and Rumple has Whale on the floor. Belle is doing nothing to help Whale. The question is, what did Whale do to get both Belle and Rumple riled up?

I think Dr Whale was hitting on Belle, so Gold responded like he did with Bae when the soldiers came for Bae the one solder was told to kiss Rumbles boot and now Gold tells Dr Whale to kiss his boot. Maybe we didn’t see the part where Belle tried to stop Gold, but Neil is suppose to come in about then and tell Rumble that he hasn’t changed.

Honestly, from the pics, I think Belle is still Lacey at this point. Reports from those watching the filming say she wasn’t acting very Belle like. I suspect her getting her memories back will be a big moment in the season finale.

To play devil’s advocate: her acting non-Belle like could be because she is now both and letting her inner Lacey out. Also in a season finale with HUGE things from NL, GOAT kidnapping Henry, Lost Boys, MAP, and more…Belle getting her memories back is a lot smaller than all those things (and don’t get me wrong, I am a huge Rumbeller and love Belle) but it’s a B plot story that needs to be wrapped up and what better place than in a huge Rumbelle centric episode.

I don’t think Belle’s personality would shift *that* dramatically after she remembers. She is definitely still dressed as Lacey in this scene. I just don’t see Belle choosing to dress that way after she remembers. Also, the scene describes Gold beating on Whale while Belle just stands there and watches- no way a Belle who remembers would not step in. The finale is really a two parter. I can see them making Belle’s memories part of it. I will be very surprised if she is only Lacey for one episode.

Agreed. Plus with Rumple going all out to win Belle back in Lacey, they need to have some sort of pay off in that episode, Belle getting her memory back would be that. Also it would parallel how Belle and Rumple’s relationship starts to blossom in FTL.

But we don’t know how or even if her personality shifted. She could be Belle but taking greater fashion risks because she’s young and sexy and has a boyfriend who thinks shes beautiful, ect. If the spoiler is correct that the beast rubs off on the beauty instead of the other way around this time, then Belle would choose that dress. It totally suits a new combined Lacey/Belle. And her hair is very Belle. Lacey’s hair is always up and Belle’s is down. If Whale was hitting on Belle, she might let Rumple defend her and do what he does because again she is now both. Lacey is tougher and maybe more okay with passionate outbursts.

As RumplesGirl said, the finale is going to be filled with huge things and Belle’s memory is really a B plot. However, it’s big enough that they can’t just shove it in and say “oh by the way Belle got her memory back” and that’s the end of it. Rumbelle is very popular and I think there would be a fan outcry if the resolution to their big storyline was squeezed into an already crowded finale and not given the attention it deserves.

Ehhh…maybe, but I just don’t see it. Belle allowing Gold to beat someone? To put his foot in Whale’s face and say “Kiss My boot!”? That would be so out of character for her. When I first saw those set pictures, I thought it was really obvious that she was still Lacey at that point based on what she was wearing and the scene description. They did say at Paleyfest that Lacey is the complete opposite of Belle.

Actually, Belle’s hair *is* up in that scene…it isn’t until later when she has the blue coat on that it is down. I sense a transition happening there somewhere, and I don’t think she will be getting the short shaft if that happens in the finale. She had great moments in last season’s finale, and there were tons of things happening then too.

Lacey doesn’t seem to want anything to do with Gold in promo pics. Why would she be hanging out with him if he was still Lacey?

Also, in the scene where Rumple has his foot in Whale’s face, Belle’s shoes don’t match the rest of her outfit. That is definitely a Belle thing, having non-matching shoes.
