@rumplegoldfan – Agreed a million times over. The people who see this stuff are the ones who are already invested in it. You’d think they’d know by now how VICIOUS the shipping wars have been and to do that right before a hiatus is just cruel. There are so many ways they could have handled it well and balanced all season and they didn’t which reeks of jerking people around or trying to make it seem like there’s more to it than there is when they haven’t bothered to do that all season when they easily could and should have.
I’ll be so happy when it’s a done deal and we can put it behind us. I want to enjoy the pretty graphics and love what I’m seeing, not be constantly told I’m wrong or stupid for not being ok with a woman as strong as Emma going back to a situation like that. (I really don’t think he’ll be like that next time around with whoever, but there’s just too much for me to actually root for Emma to go back.)
All these things do is drum up shipper wars even more than ever and near a hiatus as;jfdls *screams* – it was bad enough being called delusional and having to bank on Adam saying that we DID have “canon romantic moments” in S2 (which we’ve been saying ALL ALONG) and then having to wait alllll summer of them saying triangle triangle triangle but then Adam saying not really a triangle and US all say that it’s her past (which she HAS to deal with) and her future which she is moving toward like Regina and Hook and everyone else we’ve seen this season. It’s been a BIG theme. We even started it off with Mulan paralleling Neal and her finally going to say something only to realize she was too late and the 3rd wheel of a TL couple. I think Neal will come to that realization soon (I hope they don’t drag that out forever), and that he will be on the lookout for his 2nd chance at love with someone else (preferably after taking time to actually DEAL with the Tamara & Emma feelings cause nobody deserves to play 2nd fiddle to one relationship, much less 2). Look at how long it’s taken Regina to deal?
So excited that we will be getting some OutlawQueen! LOVE that pic that Sean posted! Gives me hope that 2nd half we’ll be getting the start of Regina & Robin Hood (and hopefully sightings of adorable little Roland!) so that somebody is finally starting to move forward instead of regressing backward during their redemption arc. Regina had a long way to go but she’s make decent strides! Rumple’s doing pretty good too as is Hook for the most part so it makes sense they’re using big new villains to make up for that. It’s about time our core characters completed their redemption arcs (remember, believe a pirate can be a hero!) and can move forward finally. I feel like this season has been all about embracing/facing the past and moving forward so that makes me very happy and I hope that at some point by the end of S3, we have at least an idea of who that person would be for Neal too. Again I want some time before that but I don’t want him sad and hurt forever either (just a reasonable amount of time to deal with losing Tamara and then Emma. I’m sick of everything being swept under the rug and then put on Emma’s shoulders to fix.)
I will be AMAZED at this point if people don’t hate her like they hated Milah. (I don’t even like Milah and she was the first love of my favorite guy!) She hurt Rumple and was cruel to him but he eventually found Belle and that’s what we have to hold on to!
I don’t understand the point of shipping (and actually being invested in said ship) if you don’t like both characters and see something good in them. It’s easy to be UPSET with what a character does even if you love them (it’s hard to make excuses for some of the stupid stuff any of our villains have done), but to outright hate them for something doesn’t make sense to me. It’s something I love about CSers – we defend Emma AND Killian and fight for them. I feel like a lot (not all, esp around here but a lot) of Neal fans love SF because it will make Neal happy but don’t always think about what might make EMMA happy and so far, she hasn’t seemed happy with him being back all that much, and she definitely didn’t really want to set up a time to talk much less when she figured out he likely wanted it to be a date. She’s tried so many times in different ways to say and show she’s not interested, but she MUST BE because Neal has been through so much! (They all have.) It just bugs me.
It is not Emma’s responsibility to make every single person happy. She can try, but she will fail miserably and fall apart/burn out quickly (which we’re already seeing a little bit of). As a huge Emma fan first and foremost, I want what makes HER HAPPY and so far I’m just not seeing that with Neal (on top of not understanding why I should root for her to go back to the cause of all her problems to begin with as if they never happened). Just because characters are being more forgiving of past actions by others (example: Snow thanking Regina for helping so much, everyone calling each other “family” etc etc), doesn’t mean that in a romantic relationship that has to mean going back and trying again. Trust is incredibly important and once that trust is broken those questions linger whether you want them to or not which makes it easy to be uncomfortable and never quite at ease.
I do think she’s in a good spot overall (minus the jealousy thing but I think that will be straightened out shortly as well as hopefully everyone PUSHING her – her words). She knows she’s loved, she’s found her family, and she finally has some answers. Things happened the way they happened and, like her feelings, she can’t change them. She doesn’t hate him. She’s already admitted that she’ll probably always love him because he was her first love and gave her Henry. She’s happy that he’s in Henry’s life now and they need him to be. She’s made peace with him being there and he’s not quite the monster she always thought he was when she believed he set her up (and she had every right to feel that way since he TRIED TO LEAVE HER and she was the one who insisted that no, in order to be together, she had to be the one to fight for it and try). She has moments where she seems happy he’s around….for Henry. This goes completely along with what JMO has said from the start. (I really really miss her Manhattan interviews. For all the “romance” that that episode was supposed to evoke according to shippers, all I saw was everything she said and then some. So yes please, more episodes that parallel them to Milah/Rumple. And then the fandom can hate Emma for breaking Neal’s heart and it’ll be soooo much fun. Ugh)
At this point I’m just beyond burnt out. There’s only so many times we can say the same things and they still get ignored. Just because they spend time together or are reunited doesn’t make it a good shipper moment (see NY & echo caves). So I’m not worried. It goes against everything we’ve seen. I trust JMO to know her character and the fact that so far she’s been saying the same things that we have is important. She’s said countless times this season that Hook is being SELFLESS rather than SELFISH etc etc. She praised him a LOT and nobody believes that Emma sees anything remotely redeemable in him. Doesn’t matter how many times his stuff mentions him as a hero or they outright show he’s on a “hero’s journey” which TAKES TIME. So beyond done with that.
I can’t wait for them to actually be able to say what they’ve been dying to say for ages. A&E (& JMO really) were SO not good at hiding their emotions at PaleyFest last year. I’m sure this has been building for awhile (they’ve all said they knew what was coming when Colin and Michael were hired….) and that they’ll be as happy as we are when they can talk about that in depth and defend that choice. It’ll be like David Anders finally being allowed to discuss how much he loved getting to play Frankenstein! (Can you imagine how giddy A&E will be when they DON’T have to hide it anymore?)
Seriously can’t wait for PaleyFest this year. It should have some good stuff and I really really hope their poker faces forget to show up again! (And that they’re allowed to tell us a little more!)

@MysteryKat25 I love everything you write too! I love everything everybody writes. I know I have strong opinions and can probably come across a bit arrogant at times but I appreciate everybody here, everyone’s opinions help me to solidify and add to my own thoughts!!! 🙂There’s just so many positive things in that post I wouldn’t know where to start but will say I absolutely adored the point about how JMO has said that Emma hasn’t found that yet.
I think the actual quote was (not completely sure, recalling from memory) “Emma is the product of True Love, and I think it’s in her nature to want to find her own”.
Who do we know that is tired of getting jerked around by the manipulations of others that has controlled her entire life? Emma. Just saying.
Oh yes. And I think, but I could be wrong that the jail thing is coming out this week, in all the emotion. It would make sense – we know that the nurse and the doctor from the birth scene are coming back, and we need to find out how Pan found out about Henry, and how he happened to know that Henry was born in jail and sent to Maine. It’s all connected. I don’t think Emma (or Neal for that matter) are going to at all appreciate finding out that they were manipulated by Pan into meeting.
Not sure how soon we’d be introduced to whoever Neal’s new love interest would be (please not TOO soon.

And the timing of it just seems weird. Wouldn’t you want to release something like that PRIOR to the episode to make people wonder what was going to happen as opposed to after the episode when everyone has already seen it and clearly knows that NOTHING happened???
To me it just feels like they are trying to get in the straggling viewers – viewership has been falling recently and funnily enough, the first half of the 3A was very CS focussed (not saying anything I swear). So they’re trying to amp up drama and make anyone who ships CS but isn’t obsessive go “OMG WHAT’S HAPPENING MUST TUNE IN ON SUNDAY”
It’s a very poor attempt IMO lol, because like you’re saying, there was nothing in the least romantic about that scene. Killian’s pain was a palpable thing and Tink was having none of it haha.

Agreed. I have a few online friends from the US who aren’t into shipping and half the time they’re like “who’s Neal again?” and I’m like “Baelfire” and they’re like “oooooh yeah”
It’s literally because he has nearly 0% of an emotional storyline, I’m convinced. I saw ladyhacksaway on tumblr (who is a massive Neal stan actually) bemoaning the fact that he has as much emotional resonance “as a lamp” lol. Which is true!!!! I think anyway.
Your average casual viewer isn’t even going to follow the show on Facebook or Twitter so they are never going to see that stuff anyway.
Hmmm I don’t know if I agree. The OUAT Facebook page has over 3.5 million likes – the OUAT fandom on tumblr is nowhere near that big for example. So in order to draw in the stragglers as I mentioned above, they’re trying to play up the drama. At least that’s what I think lol.

*sigh* yes. Yes they do. All publicity is good publicity after all (except for ABCs lame attempt at cast photos for this season, the first set were simply AWFUL lol)

This year’s was March 12th I think and the show is coming back on March 9th so…it could be right around the time between 3×12 & 3×13 maybe if it doesn’t happen right before 3×12 comes back. And a lot will have happened in the meantime to perhaps change a few peoples minds *cough* Ginny & Josh *cough* about CS!
“Starts?!?” will always be one of my favorites. We know how JMO feels about ships and she was pretty consistent especially after Manhattan aired which was around that time. She’s just a bit more subtle now after things got super crazy over the hiatus. (She thought the ILY was rushed but went with it. Every time I see her look remotely uncomfortable in character has to do with Neal where I can almost see the gears turning like “but WHY do I have to feel that way?” and then going with it and it making sense later on which I’m sure is a relief. I definitely felt that way with her emotional breakdown in Nasty Habits but then the echo cave felt very real and I think she connects more to that stuff. She’s been pretty on point with where Emma’s head is though and it echos (no pun intended) what we’ve been saying all along.
She’s the one that has to be in Emma’s headspace and make sense of all of it and ask the questions about how her character is feeling which means she knows one thing and others know something else. (For example: Ginny was very vocal about how much she didn’t like the idea of CS back when there wasn’t as much to see – for some – and they quickly shot her down thank goodness and I think she’s coming around a bit more, but to be in Snow’s headspace – she can’t see this as something incredible that will make her daughter happy. She’s stuck on her own love story). So it’s different for different people but JMO especially should know what Emma’s going through and her stuff has been consistent with what we’ve said through and through on the big stuff (some headcanons pan out, others don’t but for the stuff we’ve actually seen, we usually interpret it the way that she talks about it *high fives & cookies all around*)
I hope we see a lot more shifts in attitude by the time PaleyFest rolls around! Josh seems more on board with Emma+Happiness, Ginny has backed way off on the CS hate, I think we’re shifting into “this is a very real possibility and could be a good thing” territory where “if it makes her happy and it seems like it does then it’s not a bad idea” – I could totally be wrong and the actors are always allowed to have their own opinions even when they conflict with what A&E want to do, but it makes sense for them to have been very weary of Hook at PaleyFest time last year. This year they’ve bonded with him a bit more and we’ll see what they’ve had to work with until that point to see if any other major shifts have happened.
After all, it wasn’t that long ago that Jared insisted that his parents had to end up together and now he’s on team neal but likes Hook too….baby steps. (Though I did really love Ginny focusing on something that ultimately doesn’t matter even if it is an annoying connection and watching A&E fall all over themselves to protect our beautiful ship!) SO many good memories from PaleyFest I can’t wait to see what happens this year! (Especially with lotssss of good CS moments already and hopefully teases of more to come!)

Wow, lots has gone on since I was lurking yesterday lol
I’m not worried about either promo pic – 1) The Tink/Hook pic is geared at getting everyone to wonder what will go down between CS in the mid season ep (since ALL casual viewers I know of ‘get’ Emma & Hook are dancing around being a ‘offical’ couple, due to the way the show has already portrayed them both) & 2) Neal’s (aka NealPersonBagelFire) poster I think refers to his character in general- like maybe he is getting a “2nd” chance, NOT to make the same bad mistakes he KEEPS making – repeatedly & a 2nd chance with his father/family. If it was meant to be for the benefit of his relationship with Emma, then this fan based poster would be more accurate chances wise-
As he has already had at least 2nd chances, if not 3rd chances already.I also think Emma & Neal mirror their parents journey’s in many ways as well-
Emma grew up without parents, due to Regina ~ Snow grew up without her mother due to Cora
Emma loved Neal, but he betrayed/sent her to prison & abandoned her- leaving her deeply wounded ~ Snow loved Regina, but she betrayed/wanted her in prison or kicked out of the kingdom- deeply hurting her
Emma had lost faith in trusting men or romantic Love until Hook/Killian proved otherwise ~ Snow had lost faith in trusting men or “romantic Love” until Charming proved otherwise.
Emma meet Hook in a VERY similar way (right down trapping the other & demanding a quest in order to get what the other wants & a bashing scene), that Snowing meet.
Emma & Hook’s starting to feel a strong connection for each other, which was intensified/deepened when thrown into dangerous missions together- Like Snowing.
Hook having to win over Emma’s family head (Charming) ~ Charming had to win over Snow’s family head (Grumpy).
Neal’s father abandoned him ~Rumple’s father abandoned him
Neal allowed his fears (his father) to taint his relationship with Emma & caused him to leave her ~ Rumple allowed his fears (cowardice/death) to taint his relationship with his wife & cause her to leave him
Neal professes to love someone (Emma), yet doesnt listen to what she says ~ Rumple professed to love Milah, but refused to listen to what she wanted
Neal loved Emma, yet got engaged to another person, whom he truly loved, rather than trying to over come his old habits & try again ~ Rumple loved Milah, yet he killed her rather than over coming his old habits & then fell in love with Cora- whom he truly loved.
Neal tries & wants to do the right thing, but ends up choosing the easy or less honorable way to go about it ~ Rumple tries & sometimes wants to do the right thing, but pretty much always goes about it the easy/ less honorable way
Now the biggest parallel I think for both is finding their TL/HEA couple-
Snowing had to endure hidden truths, great loss & tragedy, live lives of lies, live or die by the sword, give up doing what was easy, over what was right for their TL- much like Emma & Killian are being shown as doing/heading towards
Rumbelle had to endure their self-doubts, Rumple’s fears, secrets, great loss, bad habits, past actions, mistakes & loves- it took him 3 tries at love to find his ‘TL’- the one who makes him the best version of himself & Belle the strongest version of herself. Neal’s next love interest will be his 3rd love interest (the same person twice doesnt count- or Belle would be 4th lol), I’m very much interested as to whom that will be & if paralleled history will be repeated.
I’d also like to note, that as someone mentioned before (sorry I cant remember who now!) the most emotional Neal has been about Emma, was when he was talking about it with Mulan (which is why I really liked him when he was with her, I think- he became more dynamic/ real IMO).
Gorgeous!!! I was thinking about trying to do something like that but I am not very good with it and haven’t had a chance to try. Still trying to find the perfect icon/sig banner to put together but that makes me so happy to see even if it’s not real! THAT is the story I actually “believe” in!

I know right- it’s the story that kept me interested in once, when it went stale for me last season- in fact the only reason I’m still a fan IS Hook & CS. To me they are the ‘real world’ Snowing/TL fairytale story 🙂
