I feel like with the winter finale, Once has come full circle back to season one, specifically Skin Deep. No one was expecting Rumple to be the beast from Beauty and the Beast. No one expected that ‘ship to explode overnight into this fandom that took on a life of it’s own. I feel like we are seeing the same thing happen with Captain Swan.
The theme from the family, other than going home was that:
“Happy endings aren’t always what [you] think they will be.” – Mary Margaret Blanchard, (Going Home 3×11).
To me, that means the happy endings people [meaning us, the fans] happy ending aren’t going to be what we expect to see on this show. On this board anyway, SwanFire ‘shippers hope that Neal and Emma will end up together but that’s what they expect but that’s not necessarily what Adam and Eddie have planned. I think Captain Swan is what they have planned and they’re keeping it a surprise because…
To me, love is… love is layered. Love is a… a mystery to be uncovered.
I love my parallels but the love story between Emma and Hook is layered and a mystery we will uncover as we go forward.
