This may not add anything new, but here’s my thought on the matter.
The promo shows Regina struggling to contain the explosion from the fail safe gem. She also says something to the effect of “I can't contain this much longer” or something. Well no, maybe *she* can't, but perhaps with a little help…
Cue Rumple to the rescue. Perhaps he makes the choice not to run off with Lacey (he can retain his memories outside of Storybrooke and Lacey already lost hers) but instead to save Storybrooke because of Henry and maybe a little bit of “YOU DID WHAT TO MY BAE!!????”
So perhaps Regina can't contain the explosion, but the two of them can? It would make a great parallel to when Gold and Regina were blocking the portal earlier this season. And goodness knows we like our parallels.
Maybe this drains him of his Dark One curse/powers somehow. Of course, I wonder if Lacey would in fact be interested in him if she knew he couldn’t grant her immortality etc. Angst angst angst[adrotate group="5"]"Nothing is easier than to denounce the evildoer; nothing is more difficult than to understand him."

What if it's three people who control the explosion? Or rather, three people involved in all this. While Rumple and Regina are controlling the explosion (and him losing his powers..I like it), Emma is using her own magic to send everyone in SB to the EF. Rumple and Regina can't control the explosion forever, but they give Emma enough time to get everyone home. I still really think SB is going to go bye bye.

Very yes.
Actually that makes an even better parallel because instead of using magic to keep people from coming through a portal, they'd be teaming up to use magic to help people get through a portal. Yes. That. Let's do it.

But has anyone mentioned (perhaps somewhere else on the forum) that the boy who will be The Dark One’s Undoing is Pinocchio? Storybrooke now has 2 boys that inadvertently led Rumple back to Bae. Henry in finding Emma but August/Pinocchio (currently a boy) in his interference with Neal and Emma’s relationship. Plus we still don’t know how Mr.Gold procured Henry for Regina. Was he able to leave SB w/o incident as long as he returned? Was he able to leave SB because he had no one to be hurt by his leaving (like Granny & Ruby)? If he wasn’t able to leave, who could have possibly brought Henry from Arizona to SB? August is the only person I can think of. Because no one else would have been able to see SB. How Pinocchio could be Rumple’s undoing I have no idea. Henry could be just by loving him for he is his grandfather. Or by enlisting his help in finding Neal. But with August back as a little boy, so soon after the prophecy episode I just thought here’s another little boy that could fit the prophecy. It’s a stretch I know.

While the boy in question certainly could be Henry, I also think a strong case could be made for August, who is now a 7-year-old boy again.

Eddy and Adam have confirmed Mr. Gold was cursed and didn’t get his FTL identity back until Emma first arrived at Granny’s inn when he heard the savior’s name. Also, Mr. Gold couldn’t have left SB, because he was cursed the entire time. The curse actually prevented anyone who was cursed from leaving SB. It wasn’t until after Emma broke the curse and Rumple developed a magic potion to enchant his shawl to safeguard his memory that Mr. Gold was able to leave and find Baelfire in Manhattan.

I agree. August could easily have been the one who took baby Henry to SB, so in a way, August may have made it possible for Henry to find Emma, who reunited Bae and Rumple. In S3, we’re supposed to discover how Mr. Gold procured Henry for Regina, despite the fact that Mr. Gold didn’t know he was Rumple. Well, perhaps August is the one who brought baby Henry to SB, got in touch with Mr. Gold, who then gave the child to Regina.

May 8, 2013 at 12:27 am #192071lorem ipsumParticipantI did hear on a podcast w/Eddy & Adam that people could leave but something bad happened to someone. They pointed out in the show’s pilot when Granny says to Ruby “I’m sorry that my heartache prevented you from sleeping your way up and down the east coast” (Something to that effect). That Ruby had left but had to come back because the bad thing that happened was to Granny (heartache) and not to Ruby herself. Of course I fully admit I may have misunderstood. I know that in S3 we are suppose to find out how Henry made his way to Regina (as well as a few other things) but I cannot think of anyone else who could have procured Henry besides August.
May 10, 2013 at 2:47 am #192678SlurpeezParticipantI read a really interesting theory on Tumblr, which is relevant to the prophesy about Rumple.

May 10, 2013 at 2:48 am #192679RumplesGirlKeymasterI’d be very interested in that theory Slurpeez, but the link is a pic of Dylan. *we’ve all gone mad*

nvm, you fixed it. I just had to wait.*we’re all a little mad here*

GAH. That’s right. The Shadow is probably a boy’s shadow. Maybe even Felix's. Could have nothing to do with Henry at all!

Yes, and it seems so obvious now! I think the prophesy won’t necessarily be limited to Henry. I can’t believe I never thought of it myself. Hindsight bias. 😉

So let’s take this to the next logical question: how is Felix Rumple’s undoing? Technically, we haven’t met him yet.
