Just rewatched Price of Gold. Did anyone else notice that when Rumpel retrieved the wand he asked Cinderella, “Do you know what this is?” Cinderella replies, ” Pure magic.” To which Rumps responds, “No, pure evil.”

I didn’t catch that the first time. So, now I am wondering about the fairies… why would they have a wand of pure evil? Or was rumple just saying that? And why would he want the wand, for himself, or is he somehow protecting the people of FTL, or does he need it for some formula….?

This is where we hear all magic has a price.

Remember how Snow White used dust from a bad fairy to turn trolls to bugs in order to save Prince Charming? She was saving it to transform the EQ and squash her like a bug. I suppose fairy dust can be either good or evil, depending on either the source or the one using it.

In the case of the “pure evil” remark, perhaps Rumple thinks the consequences of magic are often worse than the desired result.

Maybe the fairies did something to Rumpel’s son.
