Eureka indeed! And since Jefferson’s hat can travel between worlds with magic, which NL does have, it makes perfect sense that both Regina and Rumple would have been able to travel there from the EF. Both Rumple and Regina know Jefferson quite well. We’ve even seen Jefferson offer his hat services to Regina in 1×17 and to Rumple 2×5 and again in 2×12.

Rumple had good reason not to want him to fight. Rumple didn’t want Bae to get hurt, those that got hurt in the ogre wars were considered the lucky ones. What parent would willingly send their child off to fight in a war where their best chance at survival was to get maimed or seriously injured?
In Skin Deep, Regina was asking Rumple about a deal with a “certain mermaid”. Maybe Regina had Jefferson’s hat by that time so she could travel between other worlds. Maybe Regina’s been to Neverland too.

Yes, that is precisely what I think, too. It also gets around the tricky question of whether mermaids exist in both EF and NL, and whether they had underwater channels between worlds. If mermaids only exist in NL, then it’s makes sense that Regina and Rumple would travel there to encounter them.

Loving this, especially if it means bringing back SS.
In Hat Trick it does seem to hint that Regina has used Jefferson herself, not just that she knew of Rumple and Jefferson’s dealings."He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"May 6, 2013 at 8:35 pm #191637MysteryKat25ParticipantPixie dust, shadow pan, pixie-dust-enhanced flying ships, bean portals…surely there are other ways too.
I’d like to see the hat that Emma made come into play as well. Not sure where it ended up and Jefferson is away for the forseeable future.
I think we’ll see the hat room again though because it would be in the past and presumably with Jefferson. We know he went to Oz for Rumple in the search of the slippers, and retrieved Dr. Frankenstein for a mission for Rumple. I can’t remember any specific door that screamed Neverland but I’d have to study them again. Surely there’s something!
If it’s not a room in the hat, then there has to be another way. What other things did Rumple suggest when he was talking to the Blue Fairy about how to follow Bae? Curse was very last option but there were definitely a few ideas thrown out there and that was long before Jefferson and his hat ever came around and Rumple is old, powerful, and smart (if not high on common sense sometimes).
With magic in Neverland then it would count as far as Jefferson’s hat is concerned and Jefferson was the one who said there are infinite worlds…maybe there’s a 2nd room in the hat, go through a certain door and it leads to a whole new door room?
And then of course if Ursula is hanging out in Mermaids Lagoon anything is possible. It would certainly tie up most of the mermaid problems.
I agree that Regina has had dealings with Jefferson over time and it’s just a case of when she knew what regarding him helping Rumple and Frankenstein betray her, and it would have to have been before she trapped him in Wonderland of course.
Regina & Rumple have definitely both encountered mermaids before though, Rumple to get the squid ink and Regina had some kind of a run-in with a certain mermaid – though she would have gone to NL, had issues with a mermaid, come back to the EF, asked for help and then wanted to go back I DO NOT KNOW! She must have needed something though, regardless of where the mermaid is. Wonder what that could be.

Rumpelstiltskin: Oh, I’ll find a way. There must be other paths. A realm jumper?
Blue Fairy: No.
Rumpelstiltskin: A time turner?
Blue Fairy: No.
Rumpelstiltskin: A mage?
Blue Fairy: There is no-
Rumpelstiltskin: A curse?
Blue Fairy: No.
Rumpelstiltskin: Ah! So, it is a curse.
I’ve lost track of the number of times I’ve read the Return transcript now.

What do you want to bet that if Rumple DID go to Neverland at some point that he involved Jefferson somehow? It would be a great fill in the gaps someday episode when SS has a little bit of time. We’ve already SEEN Rumple employ Jefferson to try to get different things for him from other realms, why not take him to Neverland?
Yes, and not only did we see Rumple employ Jefferson in 2×5 to retrieve valuable objects from other lands, but I believe Rumple himself may have used Jefferson’s hat before then in 2×12 to sojourn to A Land Without Color to make a deal with Dr. Frankenstein to trick Regina.
Does Neverland have a door or is it strictly by bean portal? In which case how did Rumple get to Neverland cause it obviously wasn’t by bean or he would have just gone after Bae – plus the beans are all gone. Hmm….tiny issue. Any ideas?
Yes, I think Jefferson’s hat does have a NL door. The hat only connects between realms that have magic, which NL does have, so I see no reason why it wouldn’t work
I really like the idea that that’s what causes Bae to flee from Neverland! I’m thinking he’ll do something to free the Lost Boys who want out, spend at least some time as a pirate, and if he IS close to Hook at this point at least (he’s still 14 remember, he could easily idolize Hook at 14 and then grow up and not like him much if that’s the case – we still don’t really know), he would probably explain that he is leaving and here’s why which would explain why Hook made the comment about Rumple’s son not wanting to be found!
Yes, that really would help to explain that line Hook said to Belle about Bae not wanting to be found by his father. Hook may have witnessed the boy’s terror as he realized Rumple was in NL.
EUREKA! I think we’re all onto something BIG and can I just say that I love that it builds on the mermaid mythology since it’s being hinted at more and more and we’re getting Neverland stuff?! 😀
Yes, bring on the mermaids and NL!

May 6, 2013 at 8:45 pm #191641RumplesGirlKeymasterIf Rumple went to NL for the squid ink then why did Regina? We know she has a certain mermaid problem, but what caused it and why go to NL? What did she need there?
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"May 6, 2013 at 8:47 pm #191645MysteryKat25ParticipantThanks RG, I knew you’d know the answer!
Ok so…
Realm Jumper = Jefferson (yay!)
Time Turner – probably just a little nod to Harry Potter so unlikely
Mage – ??? (any ideas?)
If it’s not the mage, then it’s pretty much gotta be Jefferson and his hat which has been set up before. It would make total sense that Rumple uses him to help procure squid ink, not realizing just how close he is to finding Bae *sniffle* (but I’m all for protective Hook and a good Hook – Bae relationship, even though it means that Rumple never had to do the whole curse in the first place. Granted then we wouldn’t have a show….)
Good points slurpeez!
I forgot we saw Rumple travel himself to a Land Without Color so he himself has definitely used it before (did we ever SEE that door in Jefferson’s hat either? That would mean it’s possible we never saw a door to Neverland too…)
As for the Regina / Mermaid situation I’m still puzzled. It certainly seems like the mermaids are going to be from Mermaid Lagoon in Neverland so I have no idea what Regina needed so desperately that she would go to all that trouble unless it was something she needed for her side of the curse. It was a black diamond for the failsafe right? And the failsafe was HER failsafe, not one that Rumple added like the thing with Emma, so maybe it relates to that? Trapped black squid ink in a perfect diamond? (OK now I’m stretching things a bit but so far it makes no sense)

Unless the hat didn’t take him there. This is one of the big problems, I think. There is no such thing as a land without magic. Even our land had magic in it, or else the Home Office would be out of a job. So is there a door to our world? The magic in the land w/o color was weak feeble stuff, but yet Rumple got there and later Jefferson with Frankie. So there has to be a door to that land.
