Along with others I thought that maybe Rump wanted to bottle true love to make people fall in love. Well the problem is he said to make someone fall in love and bring back the dead is impossible. So i thought today what could be the other reason for wanting true love and it came to me. It’s a spell not to make others fall in love, but to break other spells. Remember true love can break any spell maybe even the one Regina cast on fairy tale world.

Brilliant! I think you’re right, that true love can break any spell. We’ve already learned that love is the most powerful magic of all. We’ve also learned that all curses can be broken, including the dark curse. It’ll probably be broken by true love in some form (though not necessarily romantic). Perhaps Regina will learn how to love Henry in an unselfish way, as he will learn to love her (although, that would be a stretch of the imagination).

He seemed to have a shelf full of things and that was the last one. That may be why Emma is the savior to break the curse because the bottle of love came from her parents.
March 19, 2012 at 7:25 pm #139220Daniel J. LewisKeymasterI think doxcen and hjbau both have excellent theories!
My one issue with the recipe for the dark curse is where this falls in the timeline. We don’t know how much time is between Snow and James first meeting and the curse. We do know that the Magic Mirror knows that Evil Queen traded the dark curse wi Maleficent for the sleeping curse. This would mean a fast passing of events for Rumplestiltskin to make the dark curse, give it to EQ (or it be stolen?), EQ to trade with Maleficent, and Maleficent have some personal experience with it, and EQ to get it back.
It could all happen within the time we have left, but that would be tight. I doubt we’ll see Sleeping Beauty this season, so we may not see Maleficent, either.

I think that we are going to only get to the poisoned apple and the scene where Charming kisses Snow awake at the coffin and maybe a little bit more by the end of this season. There could be years between that moment and the curse. We know that there are at least 9 months because Snow gets pregnant and has Emma, but there is no reason that it couldn’t be longer. It could be years.

That made me wonder about whether or not all of the objects from fairytale land end up in storybrooke as well. Also if the love potion is in storybrooke would rumpels still have it or would it be somewhere else?
March 20, 2012 at 5:34 am #139266riddleravenParticipantWhat was it he said about the person who could bottle true love? That it would make them the most powerful or something?
He may not have a particular spell in mind to break. He may have done it just to be the best.
March 20, 2012 at 9:29 am #139270SlurpeezParticipant@ Riddlerraven: Rumple said to Grumpy and Snow White, “Love is the most powerful magic of all–the only magic I haven’t been able to bottle. If you can bottle love, you can do anything.”
Although Rumple lied, we know his true motive in collecting the hairs of SW and PC was to make the love potion, and therefore be capable of doing anything (being invincible).

I’m starting to wonder why he knew their love would be powerful enough for it, though. I mean, later on he helped Cinderella and she gained true love. Maybe that’s why he ended up helping her? He needed more “product” of true love (her first born)?
