Maybe if ABC’s publicity department has not told everyone that Jack was a woman, maybe it would have been a bit better. Otherwise, we knew Jack was going to kill the giants except for Antone, and that she was going to get killed.
I don’t understand why ABC shows the things they do. There’s been several times when moments were in promos were clearly supposed to be big reveals in the episode. And they showed the very end of The Outsider in the promo and told everyone that Mr Gold would leave Storybrooke weeks before it happened.

David and Mr. Gold having that nice moment where they briefly spoke to each other, not as enemies, but as two men who care about family. I like how David caught Mr. Gold off guard when it became clear that he wasn’t trying to fight with him, just making a sincere request as one family man to another.Tiny finding his new “brothers”
The whole town forgiving Tiny and welcoming him. In that moment, I felt like I wanted to live in Storybrooke. The sense of community and compassion was really touching.
The scenes between Jorge Garcia and Abraham Benrubi were great. These are two naturally likable character actors and I enjoyed seeing them together.

I was a bit irritated by Snow telling Regina that what Emma does with Henry is none of her business. Regina was his legal guardian for most of his young life. I’m continually amazed by how coldly Regina gets treated by people on this show. It would be hard to blame her if she went bad again, which this episode makes it seem like she possibly has. That was such a rude, and insensitive thing for Snow to say. It almost struck me as out of character.

* The community of Storybrooke when it came to Anton. I loved that they forgave him, worked together to save him, and that he found a family.
* I loved Robert’s emotional range during this episode and his dealing with the real world with planes, security, not being able to actually use his cane to beat someone up, and lack of magic. I think we are definitely going to see his withdrawal from magic and that might come to a head with Bae. Bae might see it as Rumple not being over the use of magic and uses it as a crutch (dependent on it).
Least
* Snow’s comment was unnecessary. (I wonder if she is antagonizing Regina to have her adventure but this is much different then with Hook. Since if Regina and Cora team up that would put them in a very sticky widget).
* I do want to see less crying Regina. Part of me shakes my head because I feel like she’s bringing some of it unto her own now that she knows she is going be criticized more harshly. Also I would think that she would be happy that Henry was out of town. That means he is out of harm’s way. So that is another thing I dislike. She always seemed smart and clever in her own right…
* The fact that they are sedating Belle. I do not trust this at all especially when it is the nurse that watched over the cells for all those years–that is what really concerning me. This is not conducive for recovery at all. That not only makes Belle feel as if she is crazy but what is going to happen when she does finally remember who she is? She is going to realize that Ruby lied to her. That is almost like a betrayal to Belle.
* Not really least per say but oh god I could not keep my laughter in when I saw James like sitting there with his shirt opened down to basically his navel like that… He looked like such a tool. I feel like he was the guy everyone hated but pretended to love because he had money and was the prince. 😛
*I also have to comment that I completely agree regarding ABC. I have never really came across a television channel that essentially leaked its own show before it aired. I remember David Anders being really annoyed that ABC basically told us that he was Frankenstein. I know this is on ABC and not the creators. The thing is though I feel like the creators are in a tough spot because they might throw out clues to confuse us (they did that with the casting list I believe) but they can’t do that kind of move in an official promo because I am sure ABC would deny it on the basis of liability.
I wonder then how can they have their promos but keep the mystery as well? Such as throwing an extended part of a scene that is random or an actual fake out (such as a promo that alludes to jack being another person etc). Though the problem then comes when audiences (well some) realize that it is not in the actual show might feel disappointed, annoyed etc…
I guess I believe they should have less promos. One or two is definitely enough especially with the pictures that do come out. That way we get our mystery and just enough to get our curiosity going.
I wanted to add that I haven’t really been keeping up with spoilers and promos–only here and there (didn’t have the time or have it now xD) and I still got the gist of the the upcoming episode from the end of the show promo. That seems kind of crazy and ridiculous. Especially for the end of the episode promo. I can understand the other promos since from it seems usually people have to actively search for them (by visiting sites that publish them not necessarily commercials)…
February 12, 2013 at 6:14 am #172659playaritaParticipantAlso need to add Hook’s flirting with Snow. I understand he is a pirate but having him say that to Emma’s mom is a bit… I don’t know it make me go “gahhhuggghhh” (and is that going to be a point of contention between Emma and him? Because I can imagine her clamming up if she learns that he was hitting on Snow because it’s her mom). When he comments about where Emma got her gumption and he sticks his tongue out slightly to one corner.. and I am like… “Really?! Hook, dude, you don’t actually show/hint what you want to do with Emma (you know all naughty like) to her parents” that is just… yeah… awkward. 😆

Jack the Giant Killer character- Loved her. A shame she had to die first episode she was in 🙁 She mentioned the Jabberwocky from Wonderland- Loved that !Tiny becoming a dwarf, with the axe and working with his new brothers- ARWWWH !!! Sweet!
Rumple at the airport 😆 😕 🙁
Last image with rumple on the plane, and the sounds of the engines growing louder- Bang! the end- Cool 😀Least fav.
James leaving Jack to die alone- No fitting words for that are allowed to be uttered here.Snow saying she knows David and that he has a different heart then his brother- Did not like that because…..guess I’m just not a believer.
Did however like what came next. David saying they could leave Storybrook for Fairytaleland and leave Emma and Henry behind- Goes to show he is not that different from his brother anyway- The look on Snows face, guess she doesn’t really know him that well afterall 🙄February 12, 2013 at 1:12 pm #172709swanning-offParticipantJames leaving Jack to die – it was awful, but as a moment of storytelling it was really effective. This is the sort of man Prince James was. George threatened to expose David’s identity secret ages ago – I think that this episode shows that to be a very hollow threat. Charming’s people (using “people” in the sense of family, friends and those he ruled/rules in FTL/SB) would not be impressed with James but are impressed with David. Says it all.

I’m guessing we’ll see more of her in at least one future ep. They didn’t drop the bomb about her having slayed the Jabberwock just for the helluvit. There’s a story there waiting to be told.
Sorry but I disagree… I think there are statements made that we are suppose to take at FACE VALUE… If it is said it is to establish character …. I do not think they are going to go back and show the rest of the story…
I don’t think we’ll see Jack again. We saw her skeleton in Tallahassee, now we’ve seen her before she became the skeleton. Her killing the Jabberwock will be mentioned again rather than shown, in my opinion, perhaps in a flashback of another Character possibly Jefferson because we haven’t found out what happened to his wife yet.
You reckon K&H would pass up the opportunity to create their version of a Jabberwock? I reckon that alone would just be too much fun for them to pass up. 😉 I also think that, as the slaying of the Jabberwock was potentially a major event in Wonderland, that that story could be shown when they’re showing how Cora established her rule there. I’d been thinking that the “wise woman” Jack mentioned was probably Cora, just because Jack wasn’t exactly portrayed as a good guy in Tiny, but now I’m wondering if perhaps the Jabberwock had been summoned by Cora in her efforts to overtake Wonderland, and Jack was working for the White Queen instead. I’ll be surprised if the mention of the Jabberwock was just a throwaway line, but I guess time will tell.
February 12, 2013 at 3:29 pm #172726beauty the beastParticipantI think I’ll just list the things I loved most about this episode.
-Mr. Gold’s panic attacks in the airport. His anxiety must be so unbelievably overwhelming right now. He’s about to be reunited with his son who probably hates him, he doesn’t have his powers, Belle still doesn’t have her memory, Hook and Cora are still running loose in Storybrooke…GAH!!! No wonder the man is freaking out! Robert Carlyle’s performance was absolutely flawless in those scenes.
-I also loved seeing how supportive Emma and Henry were being during those scenes. You’d think after hearing Gold’s threat, they would be a bit apprehensive, but they weren’t. I think that had more to do with Mr. Gold’s promise more than anything else. Mr. Gold made his initial threat after having one heck of a day, but he went back on his threat after having an hour or two to calm down. I’m glad he promised to keep Emma and Henry safe. That melted away a lot of my fears about their upcoming road trip.
-Regina’s return as the Evil Queen. HECK FREAKING YES!!! I’m all for redemption and becoming a better person, but good god did I miss my evil queen. Her redemption arc was getting a bit repetitive and overbearing, so it’s nice to see Regina back to her old self for a change.
-Belle’s scene in the hospital. Even though I hate the way Ruby and the nurses treated her, I think it’s important that we see this side of Belle. I’m looking forward to learning more about Belle’s cursed Storybrooke persona. We still haven’t met that person yet. I just hope the writers don’t drag this out too long. I want the real Belle back by the end of the season.

I’m sorry, but I’m always astonished when people say things like this. I could write out a massive list of all the evil things Regina has done, but everyone knows it already.
Regina is an abuser (to put it mildly). In order to gain redemption, she needs to take responsibility for what she has done, and make lasting change. She needs to beg forgiveness from those she has wronged. She needs to earn their respect and their trust. That is a process that takes years. She doesn’t get to “change” for 2 weeks and then have everyone be her besties. She needs to make the effort, no one else does. If Regina goes bad (looks like she has), the only person responsible is her. Frankly, I think everyone has been much kinder to her than she deserves.
My favourite scenes were the ones at the airport, I thought they were well done and that Robert Carlyle was excellent. Least favourite part… probably Anton’s backstory. I think he’s sweet, but as previous posters have said, we’d already kind of guessed the story.

You are really surprised? She has murdered and tortured and hurt the people of the town. They don’t have to be nice to her. In fact, compared to what they could be behaving towards her, she is lucky. All they are doing is ignoring her and not talking to her.
And I don’t know what she was expecting…that everyone would love her after a week of trying? That they would smile at her everyday and welcome her to parties?
Bascially, this episode had all her effort going out the window. Trying to kill Prince Charming and Snow White and uncaring about what happens to the town is inexcusable. No matter how sad or angry she is.
