I think he’s a Grimm brother or someone else entirely, not on the list.
I’m hoping he’s not a Grimm descendent, primarily because that’s a little too much like the show “Grimm.” However, not taking the other show into consideration, it’s a cool idea. 🙂

I just added Hans Christian Andersen to the poll.
I think changing the poll removed our answers. 🙂
I voted for the boy who found Emma. that seems more plausible now.
I voted for “someone else”. I’ve been trying to think if there are any fairy tale characters that were writers and can’t think of any, yet.
Keeper of Snow White's Glass Coffin.
He could be a new character, like Emma. She’s not a part of Disney continuity.
Before I give my theory on who The Stranger is, I need to preface that I don’t remember ever hearing for certain that it was ever stated that the Storybook storyline ever really happened. My theory, as unpopular as it seem is based on the fact that the writers of Once also wrote Lost.
My theory is that the Storybook story line is just that, a story. The Stranger is the author of the storybook and he came to Storybrook to base the characters of the stories on the citizens of the town. I’m still working out how the storybook came to being before The Stranger wrote it, but when he opened the box that had the book in it, his reaction could have been on of confusion or disbelief that the book he is the process of writing is already there.
I’m sure there are tons of holes in this theory, but I would love to hear your opinion on it.

I think for me the idea that these are the writers of LOST where everything was real that happened to those characters makes me think that everything is real here. Also we have seen that there are objects from the fairytale world in Storybrooke like Snow’s glass coffin, the unicorn mobile, Snow’s ring, the genie’s lamp. And in the episode where the queen killed the Sheriff she actually held his heart in her hand and squeezed it and it killed him, so the Evil Queen did actually pull his heart from his chest and put it in a drawer. That happened.
If my theory is correct, then everything that are in both story lines is because The Stranger saw them in Storybrook and included them in the fairy tales. As far as the queen killing the sheriff by squeezing his heart goes, I’m not saying there isn’t anything magical going on in Storybrook, which could explain the existence of the book before it was written.
I also think that if the book was based on the citizens of Storybrook, that would explain why Henry is seeing the similarities between the citizens and the characters in the book.
Like I said, this theory is just something that popped into my head and I wanted to throw it out there to see what the reaction is. I know it’s got to be full of wholes.

Well, considering how many people hated the ending of lost because they were hoping for something more, I really hope these writers haven’t sold us one thing (that all these people are cursed fairy tale characters) only to give us a twist like “Actually they’re real people and the flashbacks were just stories!” No matter how well they might execute it. It reminds me too much of those stories where the character wakes up at the end and it was all a dream.
