I have a feeling they want Henry’s father to come to Storybrooke. You don’t have a scene that means absolutely nothing, and the only reason I can think of Emma telling Mary Margret that Henry’s dad wasn’t such a good guy would be that Henry’s dad is coming to Storybrooke at some point in the story.
Now, August is probably going to be the only stranger in Storybrooke for a long time. Which means he was somewhat in the same position as Emma. I doubt they’ll do that for someone else.
Which means, if they were to bring Henry’s dad to Storybrooke, the only logical choice would be August. He’s the only person in Storybrooke who could possibly be Henry’s dad at the moment. Maybe they won’t say that specifically in series 1, but I’m sure of it.

There isn’t enough plastic surgery in the world that could make Emma not recognize the father of her child. Even if it’s been 10 years, the father of your only child isn’t someone you easily forget. Trust me, the writers will bring in Henry’s real father later on in the series, just not now. It’s only season 1.
April 9, 2012 at 6:10 pm #141536beauty the beastParticipantHmm, I’d actually be pretty creeped out if August was Henry’s father. But if it is true, then the writers better have a good explanation as to why Emma doesn’t recognize him. Because Emma had no idea who he was, and still doesn’t.
April 9, 2012 at 6:22 pm #141538mujieParticipantAugust is a lot like a fatherly figure to Henry. Plus, you forget people you hate, and Emma did seem to hate Henry’s father.
April 9, 2012 at 6:27 pm #141540hjbauParticipantI don’t think August has acted much like a father figure to Henry. They have spoken like twice and and had weird cryptic conversations. I also think it very unlikely that Emma forgot the father of her child. She seemed to know him well. And i think he is going to come into the series later on. And the writers said no love interest for Emma the rest of this season.
April 9, 2012 at 7:08 pm #141551mujieParticipantWhen did they say this?
Also, we know next to nothing about Henry’s dad. For all we know, everything Emma said to Henry was a lie. Emma was 18 when she had Henry. People change a lot from those years. She would notice the resemblence if she knew, but still… Episode 9, 2 big plots:
1. No one enters or leaves Storybrooke. August enters.
2. Henry’s father. Parents. August enters.
April 9, 2012 at 8:05 pm #141565hjbauParticipantBut people don’t change that much. I still look like the same me now at 31 that i did at 21. I don’t look like a different person. And that is about the age we are talking about here. You don’t change that much.
And you are right. Emma may have lied about everything she said about Henry’s father except for one thing. She is angry at him. He did something that made her not want Henry to know him. I think that, of all that she said, is true. And i think that the only way she would be that angry is that she knew him well. They had a relationship of some kind. Whether he was married to someone else or they just went out for awhile, who knows, but i think she knew him well enough that she is still that angry with him.
April 10, 2012 at 3:32 am #141669@midgemarlyParticipantI don’t think anyone has mentioned this possibility… What if Bae survived the Ogres war and went on to marry and have a SON!! Maybe August is Rumples grandson?? I think there had been some question about age of Bae not fitting in and that we haven’t seen SB Bae (yet). If Bae went into another realm he wouldn’t be under the curse and his kid(s) wouldn’t be under the curse either. Oh, and hey, that might explain why August does look like Bae but his eye color doesn’t match. Any thoughts on this theory?

He’d have to be is great-great-great-great-grandson or so. Remember that Rumpel is centuries old! Otherwise it could be an actual possibility.

Emma seems to trust August a lot, even though she met him, what 2-3 times? She seemed to be annoyed at him for “betraying” Mary Margeret, which means she already trusted him not to betray her. That impression doesn’t come from just 3 meetings. Especially such “cryptic” meetings.
