I just don’t think Cora willingly gave up Zelena. I think Walsh manipulated Zelena into thinking she was not wanted to gain something from Rumple.
I have a feeling it’s Eva’s father, I think it explains Cora hatred for Eva and her family.

Since the king could have gone back on his promise in having Cora marry his son, if her daughter was born out of wedlock.
True. If Cora had aspirations of marrying into royalty for some time, and accidentally ended up pregnant to some random, poor man, then she’d have to get rid of the baby so there wouldn’t be a risk of it disrupting her future plans.
My biggest issue with DaddyLeo is that it’s forcibly putting Snow and Regina closer on the family tree instead of letting them heal their divide themselves. I’d love to see Snow and Regina become close on their own, not because they suddenly have a common relative
I think they’re already well on their way to reconciliation anyway, though. Regina didn’t want their help in 316, but Snow’s family were still there front and centre to support her. And Snow’s line about “I don’t think a sleeping curse would be good for the baby” when down in Regina’s vault actually made me laugh, because it was so casual, like their shared past is so accepted now, they can almost joke about it. I do agree with you though, it would make the family tree even more ridiculous.
Knowing that we have YoungLeo in the same ep as YoungCora giving birth is the thing that’s really keeping me suspicious about him being the baby daddy. If not for that, I’d probably have brushed the theory off by now.

For one thing, I don’t think the father is royalty. Because Cora wouldn’t have abandoned a child that gave her an “in” with the royals. Even if she wasn’t initially planning on abandoning her, she certainly doesn’t seem to have made much of an effort to get her back either. Ofcourse it’s possible that we just haven’t seen that side of the story yet… I wonder how Zelena would respond if she found out that she was royalty afterall…
Someone we haven’t met yet/some nameless nobody is certainly a possibility, but would make for less exciting tv. The reason everyone is related to everyone else seems to be: drama!
(Also realism, did you ever take a look at the family trees of the european royal lines? Most royal families from different countries are related to eachother in more ways than one – I’m not surprised that it would be even worse with fairy-tale nobility.).And in this case the writers have been quite merciless in teasing us with the possibility of Rumple being the father. Not only did they spent an entire episode on the relationship between Cora and Rumple (and already teasing the possibility of a child there), but they also drew the parallel with the shaving as well as with the “scarecrow” comment (Rumple being the scarecrow as he’s the one Zelena got a “brain” from).
Not to mention Zelena is magically powerful and has a disposition for unusual skin-problems. Also, she’s obsessed with Rumple.
Giving her tremendous daddy-issues aside from her already existing mommy-issues, seems very much in line with the show. But then, if something’s that obvious, in tv-land that USUALLY means it’s not true. And it would’ve been a big thing for Rumple to overlook the existence of his daughter. (I guess even Dark Ones make mistakes).
All in all, I’m a bit stumped. I don’t think any outcome will surprise me at this point. Rumple, Leo, Randompeasant, Santa Claus…. When it turned out she literally fell from the sky and grew up with adoptive parents, it pretty much opened all possibilities back up for me.

Best resume for this topic.

My biggest issue with Rumple right now as Papa is that Zelena’s relationship with him is somewhere between devoted/jealous daughter and wife. It’s a…eh….uncomfortable idea that she might really be his daughter when she’s looking to make him bother her father and lover.
Leo: keeps popping up but I agree with what you said–Leo would have been an “in”
Santa is now my favorite choice

I completely agree. The romantic implications combined with the teasing that Rumple might be her father is giving me the heebie jeebies. Ofcourse Zelena wouldn’t KNOW they’re related, so it wouldn’t be much worse than say… Luke and Leia awkward, but really awkward anyway.
My favorite theory (I read somewhere) suggested that it would be fun if Zelena’s dad was a noble disguised as a peasant. Now that would be perfectly fairy-tale and perfectly ironic!
April 8, 2014 at 3:20 pm #260236spinninggoldParticipantI’m going with Rumpel… with good reason:
1. A baby can only be this magical with 2 magic parents
2. The deal with Rumpel was only for their child. So why would Cora send any other child away? She could always pretend it was Henry’s. And it must have happened between the changing the deal and getting Regina
3, Symetry… Bae was carried off by a vortex… Zelena was carried off with a vortex. OUAT’s history has a tendency of repeating itself… (just like the trouble new snowing baby is facing mirrors Emma’s)
4. Baby Zelena’ss eyes… They are blue, but the iris has this dark ring… Just like daddy. Not to mention the skin trouble… Did anyone see she glittered too when turning green… OUAT and Robert alway talk about Rumple’s make up being green… not gold. (And Regina is completely jealous of Snow, but never turned green)
I think the sexual tension is to throw us off scent. Zelena clearly has daddy issues. Rumpel can’t see everything, he already has explained that to Henry in New York. And when he is on a mission he can be very singleminded, so maybe that’s why he has not realised it.
And who knows, maybe Rumpel does know Zelena is his daughter… Is that why he can’t stand up to her? Is that why he couldn’t use her? He is very protective of family. Regina was not so it was easier using her, but his own daughter? He recognizes himself, and he does not want her to turn out like he has. He never gets the chance to tell her because she storms out before he does.
Besides if he did know that Zelena was not his, I believe he would have definately used her. If only for revenge on Cora. She must have been born after the cotract was signed when Cora and Rumpel were having their affaire either way. He would have used Zelena if only to get back at Cora for betraying her. Unless she is his… Rumpel does have a heart afer all, the sentimental fool <3 ... And he is very protective of his kids... And even the grandkid that will be the end of him (Go Henry, save gramps!!!)
April 8, 2014 at 3:29 pm #260238spinninggoldParticipantI’m going to say Scarecrow. It has to be someone who could not give Cora what she wanted: to be royal. So…a humble man. I’m going with the Scarecrow.
Rumple IS the Scarecrow… He has this thing with straw and he’s the brain… so that would be another hint. Old Rumpel, before the Dark Grip took hold of him was a humble man…
PS if Zelena can turn back time she can get Bae back… yay!
April 8, 2014 at 3:34 pm #260240RumplesGirlKeymaster1. A baby can only be this magical with 2 magic parents
Emma Swan was born of non-magical parents
Cora was born of 1 non-magical parent, her father
2. The deal with Rumpel was only for their child. So why would Cora send any other child away? She could always pretend it was Henry’s. And it must have happened between the changing the deal and getting Regina
Cora gave birth to Zelena before she ever met Henry Sr.

given that she is going to forcibly make out with Rumple in 318, I don’t think it’s there to throw us off
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"April 8, 2014 at 3:36 pm #260241PriceofMagicParticipantRumple has been proven NOT to be Zelena’s father because she had to use HIS blood to get past the blood magic seal on his safe in the shop whereas she used her own blood to get past Regina’s blood magic.
Rumple changed the agreement with Cora to Cora had to give Rumple “his” child. Cora escaped the deal because ANY child she had wouldn’t be Rumple’s.
Rumple didn’t meet Cora until Miller’s daughter and Zelena is the older sister. Cora had Zelena before she met Rumple. Rumple kept track of Cora and Regina, he would’ve known if Cora had a child before Regina after their affair ended.
Crack theory: Zelena’s real dad is Sweeney Todd. We have had razors, shaving and meat pies linked to Zelena.
All magic comes with a price!
