The Chat briefly talked about it, but this is a very interesting topic, so who do you think is worse? Jafar was almost murdered by his father, Pan abandoned and then emotionally tortured his kid, and Cora turned her daughter into an unhappy, friendless monster.
[adrotate group="5"]January 16, 2014 at 8:03 pm #237587TheWatcherParticipantCora didn’t really have any ill will toward Regina. She wanted her to be queen! Sure, she killed her lover and forced her to be with a man she didn’t love and was emotionally abusive, but considering who she is up against in this thread, she is the lesser of three evils.
Pan was just the worst type of person. He admits to never loving his son. Ever. Tries to kill him and everyone he loves and was just a douche (can I say that word?) He was a bad man.
The sultan arguably though is the worst. His son genuinely loves him in a way neither Rumpel nor Regina has been shown to love their parents. Jafar would fight for his father!! He said so himself! Without magic even!!! The extent of Jafars love for his father is incredible and yet the sultan denies him that bonding at the least! To me…. The sultan is the worst father (if not Pan :P) becuae he has no reason for WHY he doesn’t love his son. He just doesn’t.

In the end, she did love Regina. She was evil but she didn’t have her heart, which is at least a mild excuse. Though I grant not a very good one. But in the end, she did realize her mistake and that Regina would have been enough.
I’m going to say Pan. Before 311 I would have said the Sultan in WL but Pan kicks Rumple, despises him and berates him. The Sultan tried to make it work with Jafar originally but Jafar wanted to earn his father’s respect by being clever. If MalcolmPan ever loved Rumple it was only in the smallest degree possible.

I’m glad we have this topic because it’s something I’ve been thinking about lately.
I’d say the Sultan was the worst because he didn’t “almost” murder Jafar, he actually succeeded. I’m pretty sure Jafar was dead and then that magic popped up and revived him. But that is not the only reason why he is the worst. He took his son in but didn’t even acknowledge or love him as his son. He let his “real” son, the one who wanted to leave after adult Jafar showed up at the palace, whip and beat him Jafar. And even as Jafar’s prisoner and an older man, the sultan still doesn’t have remorse for the way he treated him.
2nd place, I would say goes to Pan. I really wondered about this if Pan loved Rumple because after he turned into a boy in Neverland, it looked like he felt remorse for what he did. But in the winter finale, it wasn’t Rumple’s heart that he needed because Rumple wasn’t the one Pan loved the most. It was Felix, his left hand lieutenant.

Yes he did actually murder him until the crazy wind thing (still no idea what that is…think it’s tied to the ring) happened. Jafar was dead dead dead.
The only reason WHY I keep going back to Pan is that the Sultan was willing to give Jafar a home and a position as a servant boy. He was willing to accept him into his household, even if there was no love. I’m not blaming Jafar for what happened because I think it’s natural to want your fathers love but the Sultan didn’t cast Jafar out onto the street as soon as Jafar appeared at his door. MalcolmPan ignored Rumple from what we could tell, left him with Spinters, probably never to return, and then let a shadow carry him away.
It’s a really hard call with those two.
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"January 16, 2014 at 8:58 pm #237607TheWatcherParticipantI don’t think The Sultan accepting Jafar into his home means anything in the long run. In one way, he gets a cheap/free new servant boy, another way, he gets to keep him on a close leash so he can’t get out and spread rumors that he is the son of the sultan and a street rat-woman (street mouse?). Sure Pan may have never loved Rumpel. But he kept him around for years, provided for him, and atleast gave him a home with the three ladies when he did decide to leave. He even went to a different land with his boy. Pan is a horrible father but in a different way. I feel like Malcolm probably still would have jumped in front an arrow (they didn’t have guns 😛 see what i did there) for child-Rumpel before he was changed back into a lad. But the sultan? No way. He’d have been the one to shoot the arrow at child-Jafar.

The Sultan did. Cora only wanted Regina to be Queen and she loved her, even without her heart. Cora’s a saint compared to Pan and the Sultan.
January 16, 2014 at 9:02 pm #237609RumplesGirlKeymasterI go back and forth so much. All the Sultan had to say was that Jafar was his son and that he loved him and Jafar would have stopped his evil plan. Even if it wasn’t true, the Sultan could have prevented everything.
ARG. I wish I could make up my mind.
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"January 16, 2014 at 9:08 pm #237614Marty McFlyParticipantI agree. Cora is no where near evil as these two. I shouldn’t have included her at all. or I should have included Regina for making Henry feel like he’s crazy or Rumpel for abandoning HIS son, but really. Cora is alright compared to Pan and Sultan.
I think that Jafar’s father was a horrible person, and he berated Jafar and let his brother beat him, but in the end he just killed him, which is actually *merciful* compared to what Pan did. Pan was about to kill Rumpel’s loved ones in front of him. imagine the dagger was out of reach? how would Rumpel stop his father? he couldn’t. he’d probably beg and cry but Pan was still ready to kill Bae. and then Belle. ONLY because they were important to Rumpel . I think that’s a lot worse than just killing him and ending his misery

“Get back in your cage, father.” 😛 best line of that episode. I think the Sultan was just a pudding bag. He deserves all he has coming. Look at what he had caused his son to become!! In a way, all the people Jafar has killed and hurt through the years… He is sort of responsible because of his pudding bagginess (I’m sorry. I just make up weird terms when I’m bored). He could have ended it at any point just saying those three magic little words. But no.
