So does Emma really have the power to know when people are telling the truth? I am beginning to wonder? Maybe she just had really good instincts until she came to SB, but she seemed so sure about David… and of course, I believe our evil mayor has tampered with the evidence. At the end when she would not divulge what was highlighted on the paper, ( can anybody find a screencap of that?) I think it was the said phone call David was supposed to have made to Kathryn, she looked confused, like ” I know he’s telling me the truth, but the paper says otherwise.” I know in this real world we live in, you can call someone and make it look like it is from a particular cell phone. Who would know how to do that in behind the times SB? I have to say, I don’t like Sydney, and I don’t like it that Emma is set up to trust him, when we all know he’s Regina’s pawn (at least for the moment). We will see if he has some self-interest in the curse being broken for himself. Do you think he know’s about the curse?

I think he is still the lovesick puppy he was in FTL and is doing Regina’s dirty work in order to get back into her good graces. But it is a good point that if Emma can really tell if someone is lying, she should have seen through Sydney. More likely, she just believes herself to be an impeccable judge of character. Unfortunately she is missing a whopper right now. To me, Sydney seems like such a putz, it is odd that he would be able to successfully fool the human polygraph.

How could you ever believe him or take him into your confidence? I just don’t get why she would risk it. And he has nothing that really helps her all that much. I just don’t see her reason for working with him.

and maybe she can’t see through Sydney because he is a mirror;)
What they are trying to do is create irrefutable evidence that goes against Emma’s instincts and conscience. It will be interesting to see if she figures it out. Maybe that is part of the finale:)
March 5, 2012 at 4:59 pm #138166cooldudetteParticipantI would love it if Emma secretly didn’t trust Sydney and was just playing along to let Regina slip and fall in her own ditch…
Can I dare to hope for that???March 5, 2012 at 5:12 pm #138168miaParticipantThat would be really cool, but somehow I doubt that. I don’t think she would’ve done that to David, if she knew the whole thing was a set-up.
March 5, 2012 at 5:41 pm #138170nightreaderParticipantI doubt it too, Emma would definitely not drag David to the station on something she knew to be a lie. She seems to trust Sidney completely for some reason. I just really hope she finds out the truth about him before he does too much damage.

She knew Ragina didn’t really love Henry in the pilot which is why she stayed in StoryBrooke, Mary Margret is not discreet enough, David is a mess and one that I would want to question more than once just because his answer is almost always “I don’t know.”
As for Emma and Sidney I think back to the bar scene where Sidney says “We wont be fooled again.” (or next time.)
Sjm, if there was anyone who could see how the modern world worked outside of StoryBrooke knowing how to tamper with phones I would say 2 people; Ragina and Rumplestiltskin. Especially if Rumple still had the ability to see the past present and future.March 5, 2012 at 8:42 pm #138188crabtremParticipantSo Grumpy was in jail when he first met Snow, both outcasts there too. So Grumpy got his name already, he came back to the mines because of the Blue Faerie. What did he do and why to go to prison? That must come later, and therefore Snow and the Prince come later. But Regina is already in Black with Belle, so it’s after the King’s death and Sydney is in the mirror.
I agree, Sydney is in the mirror and probably cannot be read by Emma. Regina is the Evil Queen, everything she says is smothered with cruelty and deceit. I mean everything Regina says is a lie, because she knows the past.
The Blue Faerie bothers me. She is in everything, she is like the most powerful magical being for good. She should be more of a threat to Rumplestiltskin than Regina. He toys with and plays with Regina, setting her up with the curse; leading countless others in this web of events because of his deals. He killed one Faerie and got her wand, but the Blue Faerie seems to be beyond his grasp. You would think he would want that power. I may be imagining things, but it seems like the Blue Faerie is a bigger player in all of this.March 5, 2012 at 11:31 pm #138208SlurpeezParticipant@ sjm

I LOVE THIS IDEA!
