For some strange reason, I like the idea of Rumpel and Belle being linked through magic. I know it’s probably just my fangirl heart talking right now, but I think it’s kind of romantic.
Or at least it will be in the beginning.

Cool. I sometimes feel like we are writing the same thing but it seems like we are disagreeing. I have to go. Good discussion. No hard feelings.
Aww, of course not. I love you guys! 😀 I love chatting with people who disagree with me. I don’t like preaching to the choir. I like debates. You tend to get a better persepctive on a character when you talk with people who you disagree with. So, I love hearing all sides.

I am not saying that he isn’t. He is clearly one of the main characters. Emma is the main character because the story is hers and she is in every episode. Then there is Rumpel, Snow, Charming, and Regina. Though i do think it is more as if the show is an ensemble though i do think that the writers have many times stated that the story is Emma’s story as the new fairytale character.
Ah! I understand ya. 😉
a_desperate_soulParticipantI’m pretty sure Rumpel is a main character. Emma, Mary Margaret, David, Mr. Gold and Regina are the heart of the show. Like The Looking Glass just said, the producers have stated it several times in interviews.

The first episode being Rumple-centric is as likely as it being The Charmings-centric, I think. Just because we don’t like something doesn’t mean that it doesn’t make sense from the point of view of the writers. I just hope that the first episode won’t revolve around Charming family reunions only. That would be extremely boring to me. Besides their reunion can probably be done in one scene. I don’t see the need to drag it out. And getting back the kingdom, well I know it will take place in S2, but we all know the outcome of it. So it’s not interesting enough for the first episode in my opinion. The opening episode has to be exciting enough to get viewers hooked to watch the rest of the series. I’m just not sure that family reunions or getting back the kingdom are like that.
I guess for some people the final scene will always be about Rumple’s power hunger and period. It probably stems from the fact that they don’t like the character. But from the point of view of the plot that explanation doesn’t make sense. The guy worked on the curse for centuries, then willingly got himself transported to the land without magic where he was stuck for 28 years so that after these 28 years he could get back his magic. That’s ridiculous. I thought it was obvious that he’s got some agenda ( most probabably finding his son) and he released that magic because he needs to do something with it.I agree. Mr. Gold didn’t just forget his son. He spent hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of years working on this curse. I doubt he’s just going to forget after one episode. Besides, he had one hell of a reminder in “The Return” when August tricked Mr. Gold into thinking that he was Baelfire. That probably fueled his desire to find Bae even more. So, there’s obviously a lot more to this story than meets the eye.

I don’t think there can be a war at this point either. I think that they need to find a way to try and make some sort of peace feel real otherwise the show won’t work. At least right now. I mean they are enemies and in that way at war, but i think they need to find some way for the characters to be able to walk around and do normal things.
I agree. If the show desolves into all out war, it would be jumping the shark. They should have the final battle begin towards the end of season 3.
I’m also not clear on whether or not the Dark Curse was truly broken. I kind of assumed that it was, but now looking back, I’m not so sure. There are two main components to the curse. The memory loss and the realm jumping. All that has been broken is the part of the curse that took away everyone’s memory. But the second part (and the most important part) is the realm jumping. They’re still in our world. They haven’t jumped realms yet. But that’s probably how Rumpel wanted it. I don’t think they’re going anywhere until Rumpel finds Bae. So, this may take a few seasons. 😯
a_desperate_soulParticipantI think he hid the egg in the dragon so that it would remain safe and hidden until the time came where he could use the true love potion.
It’s either that or the writers just wanted to have a dragon in the finale. 😆

I’ve been thinking. Since the magic Mr. Gold brought into our world was created from true love, most of the characters on the show will be able to use it. Emma (because of her love for Henry), Snow and Charming, and even Rumpel (because of his love for Belle and Baelfire). Regina however, may be the only one left out. Regina’s true love, Daniel, is dead and she killed the only other person who she really loved: Her father, Henry. Yes, she has little Henry, but since the writers chose to have Emma’s kiss revive Henry, I think that was confirmation that Regina’s kiss probably wouldn’t have worked.
I actually think it’s pretty interesting that Regina has gone from being one of the most powerful people in the world, to one of the weakest. All because of the lack of love in her life.
I completely agree. I think season 2 will be about true love and the magic it creates. 😉

I think the main factor in making the new magic work is that you have to have true love in your life. Emma has that with Henry, Snow has Charming, and Rumpel has Belle and Bae. Regina is the only one who will probably not be able to use it. All the people she loved are dead. I think this new magic won’t require much skill or effort because the main ingredient is love.
I think you might be onto something. It was magic created from true that Rumpel released into the world. And in order to have true love, you need to have someone who you love dearly. We saw that in Heart of Darkness when Rumpel made the true love potion from Snow and Charming. You can’t make the magic of true love work without the main ingredient: LOVE!!! 😆 So, I think that will be the big twist in season 2.
a_desperate_soulParticipantGAH!!! I’d love for the first episode to be Rumpel-centric. We rarely get any answers out of him and even though he’s had a few character centric episodes, he still a big mystery. But don’t mind me, I tend to get a little too excited at the prospect of more Rumpel. 😀 😀 😀
