ParticipantI know people don’t want to admit anything but Regina is very much a divisive character in the fandom especially after all the focus she’s had this season. Which has not been well written whatsoever. She’s as much loved as she is hated, especially going by Adam’s mentions and things on Twitter. Her and Hook are this way and have been for a while now.
I actually completely disagree. I think Regina is one of the most non divisive characters. I am a huge Rumple fan and yet I also like Regina. I am not a ER fan and I just think Regina’s story has not been told and she most certainly is no where close to getting her happy ending. I think her story has more to do with family (Henry, Snow, and even co parenting with Emma) instead of a love interest which makes her much more relatable and likable.

ParticipantI would probably give it a go especially if they brought in a new cast and rebooted. I would not watch it if it had Emma or Hook in it, but yeah I like Regina well enough and feel she has more story to tell. Looking back, the reason I loved season 1 and I really liked part of season 6A was because of the storytelling. I thought season 6 had a lot of potential with the land of untold stories and how those stories interacted (this is the key) with our characters. I think they bailed on the idea within a few episodes and went back to plot plot plot. If they could recapture this with new characters, I might give it a go at least for a few episodes.

ParticipantIt goes with the idea that Regina was the one who made Snow believe in HOPE™ because she made her life miserable.
Or that Emma should be dating Hook even though he slept with her son’s grandmother. Plot should not be forgotten and this shows seems to do that alot

Participantthink it’s going to be revealed that the Black Fairy and Blue Fairy are sisters, born of the same laugh or however OUAT fairies are created.
I like that theory! I still think they may go with Black and Blue being the same person which would tie in with the theme of this year which is the light vs. the dark parts of our personalities. I mean this would tie in the Evil Queen and Regina, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, and was also mentioned by the “Dragon” who stated that we are both the light and the dark and should not try and separate ourselves.

ParticipantAlso I agree Rg all this happiness and hope stuff is so perceptive because let’s say characters story got switch henry died in the end will this show be about hope to all. For some it might for others it would be tragic. Let’s say Emma died but you see her at peace in the afterlife realm watching her family grow and expand as some celestial being. For some that be hopeful for others not so much. And some it’s bittersweet. Another example what if Hook really remained dead. The other characters mourn his loss but eventually find happiness with those who are with them. Some will find it about hope others will scream hope is loss. At the end as Rg remarked hope is subjective to perception and personal wants/desires. I hope for what I think and want to occur therefore if it happens it’s hope and good and happy ending True to story etc. Etc. but if it’s not then it’s tragic and broke all sense of hope every that this show try to convey.
I agree completely. What I would have hope for is not the same as anyone else or at the very least is vastly different as many others.
On a final note Emma is way more relevant and important than any other character on the show. Don’t compare her to the other characters that have died on the show. She is the most important character on the show, she’s the focal point of the show. She’s the reality of the show. Without Emma Swan, there’s no OUAT. She’s also connected to several people and without her all of our characters would not get happy endings. Hook, Snowing, Henry, etc will not get a happy ending. Sorry Neal fans but you cannot ever compare Emma to Neal. Also just saying but Henry was never close to Neal. Yeah he was his father but he barely spent any time with him. Sorry. Sure he misses him but it’s nowhere near the level he would feel if he lost Emma.
Of course you are entitled to your opinion, but you need to understand and respect that others will have a different one. I for one am not a huge Emma fan and definitely not a Hook fan and could care less if they both left the show for their happy endings. I would say without Rumple there is no OUAT, others will say without Regina there is no OUAT, others would say without Henry there is no OUAT (I can see that argument) It is all opinion. As for the comment about Neal not being in Henry’s life and therefore not as important, I would say that yes that is true and that is what is incredibly sad and not hopeful. Neal whether you liked him or not was important to the show and was connected to many of the main characters. His death caused a lot of people not to get their happy endings. Rumple stated in Season 3 straight out that Bae was his happy ending, my point is, that anytime a character dies someone looses their happy ending. Robin’s death left Rolan without any parents (not very happy) Hades left Zelena without her budding relationship (not very happy) and Bae left Rumple in a complete and utter downward spiral which he is still struggling with, Henry without a father, and Emma without her love (none of that was happy)

ParticipantThis kind of conversation is good. It was needed. It links Zelena to others outside of her immediate family (really just Regina) which is absolutely needed since the show is largely pushing the idea of family being more than just your blood relations, they are the community that forms around you.
Yes that would have been good, except you have Belle talking to the woman who KILLED her husband’s son. That is what is wrong with the show, all these characters are supposed to co exist and have meaningful conversations and we are supposed to forget about the plot. I love meaningful conversations and love when we have character moments. Regina and Snow had some great moments in 5B, Hook and Emma had a great moment in 6A, and as everyone can guess I love Rumple and Belle moments from season 2 with that being said those moments need to make sense with the plot. We have too few of those moments and then we have these moments that should never happen. Belle and Zelena should not be friends sitting around talking about what they have in common. What they have in common is plot, Zelena enslaved her husband and killed her step son.

ParticipantBobby was the only one that I was 100% sure would be leaving. But after reading that part, I feel like it really could go either way.
yeah, I was for sure he was going to be the one to leave, I am actually surprised by this but completely understand he has always said that his family comes first.

ParticipantThis week was much better than last. The pace was slower, the characters were more developed, and the visuals are really outstanding. I was skeptical with this show but I am definitely going to watch the season. Last week for me at least, was a slow moving confusing mess and I only marginally cared about any of the characters. This week it was almost a 180 degree turnaround.
Liked:
The parallel between Dorothy and Tip. They both found out this episode that who they thought they were was completely wrong. Tip’s pain and anguish of dealing with this was well played out and I actually felt her pain completely. Dorothy finding out her mother was at some point and time in OZ and that maybe she has a purpose for being here was also well played out.
I liked Lucas much better in this episode. He was easier to understand and I felt his struggle of knowing who he is on the inside even if he does not have his memories.
I loved the speech the Wizard of Oz gave about how our past and our parent’s pasts do not define who we are. We are in control of our destiny as long as we are willing to fight for it and I like that parallel to Lucas’s current struggles of identity.
The visuals are stunning and well done. Dorothy’s red dress was WOW! I also loved the visuals of the palace
Dislike:
Only dislike is the Witch of the West. Maybe it is my hang up on any kind of drug usage, but I find her drug induced character boring and kind of flat.

Participanthow do you justify not using that method on every villain from then on out?
<p style=”text-align: left;”> So yeah, most likely gideon will be de aged and they will call themselves smart, by saying they mentioned that on 214, when Rumple said he would do it to Bae/Neal, but he said no, in this case i bet they will say Gideon will want a new chance to grow up with his parents, or even before Aladdin goes away, that is belle wish, to raise her kid. By the way Happy New Year to everyone.</p>
They also mentioned it in 204 The Crocodile, Rumple told uSmeed he could turn back the hands of time and make him a child again.AKA
ParticipantNothing plot wise nor character wise matters because the writers can change on a dime whenever they see fit, either for a better idea or because they simply don’t care to keep things consistent. This fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pants world building doesn’t work because not only does magic not make sense (or just any random plot device) but it also means big concepts like what good or evil actually *is* are so ill defined that it’s hard (if not impossible) to tell a story.
Agree completely. I mean what happened to “dead means dead” or “all magic comes with a price” or “evil is not born it is made” they have completely disregarded all of these in the last three seasons, and that does not even include all the magical portals that have suddenly appeared. Another problem that I feel is central is a lack of creative writing when we have new worlds. I was so incredibly excited to see the inside of Jefferson’s hat, Camelot, OZ, and even the land of untold stories. They start these worlds, get us excited, and then loose focus completely. They never completely develop them and therefore we are left unsatisfied. I know we need to focus on our key players but we have seen them be able to connect characters and stories to our main characters in an effective way. I mean look at this season with the land of untold stories Hyde was connected to Rumple, Nemo was connected to Hook, and Cinderella’s sister of course was connected to her. I liked these episodes because they took the world that they were developing and connected them to our current main characters. Unfortunately that was it, the land of untold stories consisted of only three stories, that is sad. They could have done so much more with this as well as the other worlds that I am left with a “well that was okay” feeling. Instead we get rewritten story lines over and over again and characters that are completely out of character so that they can “move the plot along”
