Wow..this clip made me rather sad…I was hoping to see a change in Gold after everything that happened in the last episode, but he still seems so cold here. One minute he is saying he is full of love and the next, he is acting nonchalant about the need for more bloodshed.

Lana Parilla joked about that at Paleyfest, but I’m not sure she was serious.

Hee! I thought she might be! That’s awesome! It makes it even more likely that we may have been in the same place once.

Aaah!! I just noticed that wiki article says she was active in BBYO at the MJCC! I was a member too throughout high school, and she probably graduated my freshman year. My first year, all the freshman went around to parties thrown by each of the groups so we could decide which one we wanted to join. I know she wasn’t in my group, but if she was a member, she might have been at one of those parties! Of course, there would be no way to know for sure unless I had the chance to ask her.

“The Queen is Dead” had songs from Wicked running through in my mind- in particular “No Good Deed goes Unpunished!”

And of course, I always make the connection to Into the Woods…

    Witches can be right
    Giants can be good
    You decide what’s right
    You decide what’s good

I feel sorry for what could have been if only Cora had chosen love instead of power. It’s hard to say what she might have been like if she hadn’t ripped out her own heart- she did make that decision while she still had one, and Regina has done terrible things and yet always still had a heart. But mostly, I feel sorry for Rumple who has his heart (figuratively) crushed again and again. Is it any wonder he thought Belle was tricking him?

Yes, a lot more time went by in the first season. By the time the curse broke, Emma had been in the town for nearly a year. Henry was 10 when we first met him. Now he is 11.

I thought the same thing about the flashbacks- they complimented the present day stories much better last season. When we were introduced to new characters, we saw them in both the past and the present, usually in relation to one of the main characters. It was like here is this new person, and now we will show you who they used to be and what their role was before. Now they often leave us wondering why they are telling this other story- and the flashbacks are often shorter and less complete stories.

One thing I loved about “The Miller’s Daughter” is that the past and present felt connected again. I loved the juxtaposition of Rumple teaching magic first to Cora then later to Emma.

Yes, there have been many great episodes this season- don’t get me wrong! I love that we got more backstory on Emma and that we finally met Henry’s father/ Rumple’s son. I do want the story to keep moving forward and the characters to continue to evolve. I’m so curious as to where the next season will take us!

Hm…I would love to see Henry finally get to see a magical world and go on an adventure. On the other hand, I wasn’t thrilled having the cast separated for the first half of the 2nd season. I think Gold will push Henry away both out of fear and for Henry’s own safety. Gold will be uncertain he can trust himself around his grandson.

I do think that the arc next season will involve outsiders finding out about Storybrooke. At this point, I am not convinced that HER is anyone important- just Greg’s significant other, someone he can talk to about the strange things he’s seen. But I’ve been wrong before.

I am really looking forward to seeing the early cursed versions of the characters- and learning more about how the curse worked! I hope they had fun with introducing Regina to our world- we don’t get enough of that sort of humor.

I am pretty sure she is still Lacey here- I just can’t imagine Belle choosing to dress that way. I have a hunch that her getting her memories back will play into the big season finale. I can NOT wait to meet Lacey! She is probably going to make things very interesting. I am under the impression that Gold ends up dating Belle while she is still Lacey, and it is a very different experience for him.
