Bar FarerParticipant
Emma has one of the most terrible and unsatisfying arcs I’ve ever seen. They had someone like Buffy or Katniss and they turned her into a Bella Swan.

Bar FarerParticipantWho did she murder?
hmmmm….maybe she didn’t murder anyone…. Gideon was nowhere to be seen…. Maybe Rump casted it….
I was sorta under the impression that the show was trying to say that she didn’t need to murder anyone because of the amount of dark fairy dust? Which, yeah, doesn’t make any sense at all.
Magic always comes with a price…unless it doesn’t fit with whatever A&E want to do.

Bar FarerParticipantWhile the music was great, I thought the lyrics were mediocre to awful.
I liked Powerful Magic the most, probably because of Ginny and Josh and their chemistry.
Revenge is Gonna Be Mine sounded like a combination of “Somebody to Love” by Queen and Mine Mine Mine from Pocahontas.
I was never a fan of “Wicked Always Wins” phrase, mainly because Zelena always loses and because it is stupid.
Emma’s theme is not really Emma’s theme. This is Emma’s theme: https://youtu.be/bnIV9v_ml8k
What we heard was the end theme: https://youtu.be/k16jb6JZswsIf anyone has seen the bts of a Disney movie, they would know that usually when they write a song, the composition and the lyrics are written together. Emma’s Theme had the composition first and the lyrics were written for the composition, which in my opinion made the song sound clumsy, like the words didn’t really much the pacing of the music.

Bar FarerParticipantOUAT is getting renewed. They promoted it as “season finale”.

Bar FarerParticipantAs a huge fan of the original, I did not like this movie at all. I feel like what it did to the original film is exactly what GoT did to ASOIAF.
They changed the characters completely, used the same plot points out of context and added their own crap.
Belle was not empathic towards others, she was pretty much condescending, she wasn’t nice at all and thought she was better than everyone, “small minded people”. I was actually surprised that she helped the Beast go back to his castle after he saved her life, that was OOC, but at least she didn’t thank him afterwards so consistency there. In addition, they had to “empower” her, meaning she cannot show any signs of vulnerability, she cannot cry after her freedom and father are gone, no she’ll hit poor lumiere and immediately try to escape. I wasn’t impressed with her acting and singing as well.
Gaston was less sinister and while I don’t think that the original Gaston was intelligent, he wasn’t a complete idiot. I don’t get why they dropped his plan to put Belle’s father in an asylum in order to extort Belle, instead everything horrible he does, he does it out of a whim or because he’s hot tempered, not because he is malicious.
The Beast – there is a reason why the animated did the prologue the way they did because you can’t show the beast being a terrible douche if you want your audience to feel any sympathy towards him, that’s why the original only gave us “there was no love in his heart”, simple, you don’t actually know what kind of a person he really was and it is best to let the audience figure it themselves.. you could have seen that he had good in him with the way his servants respected him and actually cared about him.
More things that bothered me:
– Telling Belle about the curse was ridiculous, you would think that a good person would try to figure out a way to help them even if they didn’t want any help, but not this Belle.– Irrelevant backstory for the main characters, it didn’t serve anything, it didn’t add anything, there wasn’t some twist to it so I can’t understand why Maurice couldn’t tell Belle her mother died from illness, just something that ruined the pace of the film.
– Adding a mcguffin for one scene, which was never mentioned before and never mentioned again, I’m talking about that stupid book, this like something straight out of OUAT. why didn’t Belle use this book to get to her father sooner?
– Belle didn’t break the curse. She said “I love you” after the last petal fell, what did break the curse was the Enchantress, so what was the point?
– Speaking of the Enchantress, why didn’t she curse Gaston after she saw what he did and how he behaved?
– Nitpick: why isn’t Belle the only one that wears blue during the song “Belle”?
"All your questions are pointless"
Bar FarerParticipantWas it better than “Once More, With Feeling”?
"All your questions are pointless"
Bar FarerParticipantI thought that Emma and Hook were spelled to look like other people in Snow Drifts? I don’t think they looked like themselves.
Yeah, but I think Bar meant when Snow went to Hook to ask him for passage away from the Evil Queen. However, they intentionally had Hook’s face hidden in shadow from her, so she still wouldn’t recognize him later.
Yes, I rewatched that scene and his face is hidden so I guess it’s fine.
"All your questions are pointless"
Bar FarerParticipantIt seems going from everyone there including hardcore Buffy fans this musical is better than Once More with Feeling.
Doubt it. First off, you’ve only got a relatively small audience, who are probably predominately CS. Secondly, probably an even smaller number consider themselves Buffy fans. Therefore you can only base your assumption that this musical “is better than Once more with feeling” on the words of people who are BOTH Buffy and OUAT fans otherwise you have an unfair bias eg non-Buffy fans would say it’s better than OMWF whilst non-OUAT fans would say its worse.
Now the people who are both OUAT fans AND Buffy fans may have enjoyed it more than OMWF and that’s fine, that’s their opinion, but to make a sweeping statement that ” this musical is better than OMWF” is a bit of a stretch.
Another point that should be considered is HYPE. It’s new, it’s exciting, let’s see 15 years (more like even 2 months) how does it stand against OMWF. From the little I’ve seen so far (2 songs and the “love is the more powerful magic of all”), I really don’t think it’s going to be better, it seems really cheesy and corny, whic OMWF isn’t because Joss made sureto put dark themes into the songs (estrangement, depression and abuse) while OUAT uses the same themes they used for their characters (Hook -revenge, Regina – hate for the charmings, Snowing – love, Emma – lonliness) because this is what their characters are about and nothing more. In adfition, while Colin, who is probably their best singer, has a great talented voice, he is nowhere near the level of James Masters, Tony Head and Amber Benson.
OMWF was born from Joss Whedon’s passion while OUAT’s musical seems more like a gimmick.

Bar FarerParticipantWouldn’t it be more powerful if the reason she couldn’t cast the curse was because that would have meant sacrificing the heart of her beloved recently born son?
"All your questions are pointless"
Bar FarerParticipantThe greatest thing about this promo is showing it to people who have given up on this show a long time ago and see their reaction.
