To be honest, I don’t think Baelfire is going to be too concerned with what Cora, Regina or Hook are doing. If he is in fact Neal, then he probably won’t be allying himself with either of them. I know we don’t know much about him, but I don’t see him as someone who would willingly team up with someone like Cora or Hook. And like Midnight Dreary has already stated, Rumpel and Regina seem to be back on “friendly” terms again.
But if he isn’t Neal, then I still don’t see him working with Cora, Hook or Regina. I always kind of viewed Bae as this omniscient presence who’s been standing back and watching everything happen until it came time for him to intervene (kind of what Neal has been doing).

I’d like to think that Hook would have enough decency not to kill Belle, but we’ve already seen numerous examples of people taking their revenge out on innocent people. Rumpel killing Milha, Regina going after Snow’s family, ect. So, although I like Hook, I can see him secretly plotting to kill Belle. It would be the perfect act of revenge against Rumpel. Rumpel killed Hook’s true love, so Hook will kill his. Perfect tragic symmetry.
Having said that, I don’t think the writers would actually kill off Belle’s character. She’s too popular and Emilie de Ravin has already signed a season long contract. But if the writers do decide to surprise us with her death, I’m going to take a break from this show. That’s just how upset her death would make me. 😥
And I agree, EvilQueen. Hook probably found out about the dagger while looking for ways to kill Rumpel. I wouldn’t be surprised if Cora told him about it.
Alright. Place your bets. Who do you think will win? Rumpel or Hook? Technically, Hook has the moral high ground on this one. Wanting revenge for the death of your lover is understandable. However, his alliance with Cora may prove fatal. I can’t help but think that Cora is only using him as a mole to spy on Emma and Snow, but as soon as they reach Storybrooke, Cora will kill him.
Rumpel on the other hand, is the most powerful man in the world, and will probably team up with the most power woman in the world (Regina) in order to destroy Cora and Hook. So, Rumpel and Regina vs. Cora and Hook. Even though Rumpel and Regina are ridiculously powerful, I can’t help but think that Cora has something up her sleeves. 😯
It’s kind of difficult for me to evaluate these two characters based on their own degree of evilness. Mainly because they happen to be my two favorite characters. But also because trying to judge evil vs. evil is a bit of tedious task. Like another poster said, trying to judge which villain is more evil is kind of useless. Evil is evil. It’s like asking someone which one was worse, Hitler or Stalin? I have NO answer to that! 😆
And besides, I don’t think Snow and Charming are going to be looking at Rumpel and Regina and deciding which one of them they want invite over for dinner. 😆 But then again, the relationship between the Charming family and Rumpel and Regina has been surprisingly civil lately, so it’s anyone guess.
But in the end, I don’t think it will matter. I truly believe that once Mr. Gold finds Baelfire, he’ll be on the path of redemption. We already witnessed his willingness to change in the scene between him and August in “The Return.” Mr. Gold explicitly stated that he was going to give up magic and power and even gave August his dagger as a token of his sincerity. I think his exact words were “Years ago I chose power, but now I’m choosing you.” So, I think his redemption is pretty inevitable. Besides, the writers have already given him numerous ways out of his darkness. True love’s kiss, finding Baelfire, Belle, ect. So, the writers have already built in numerous different ways for him to be saved.
He’s already making small, but notable changes. He’s not charging for deals anymore. He gave Henry the necklace for free (probably out his resemblance to Baelfire), and the only thing asked from Dr. Whale was recognition that magic was more powerful than science. He was also finally truthful with Belle about the curse and his desire to use power and magic to hide his cowardice and insecurities. So that’s a start.
The same goes for Regina. Her love for Henry is motivating her to stay away from magic. And the scene in “The Doctor” where she killed zombie Daniel is also a sign of her growing ability to let go of the past as well. Hopefully, that will help her let go of her hatred for Snow. So, I think she’s well on her way too.
I think the main reason why our current villains are being redeemed (or at the very least, attempting to be redeemed) is because there are bigger badder villains of the way. With Cora, King George and Hook on the horizon, Rumpel and Regina will probably act as a necessary evil in order to protect everyone from the new villains. It’s better to work with the Devil that you know instead of the one you don’t. 😉
I’m relieved that Belle has found a friend in Ruby too. Now that she’s taking a breather from Mr. Gold, it’ll be nice for her to have another girl her age to confide in. Plus, they can bond over their mutual experiences of being chased by the Evil Queen. See? So much fun! 😆
My favorite characters are Mr. Gold/Rumpelstiltskin, Regina/Evil Queen, Jefferson/Mad Hatter, Ruby/Red and Belle. I’m also growing quite fond of Neal Cassady and Captain Hook.
