I know! It’s so weird! 😆 In the beginning, I loved Rumpel because…well…he’s freaking awesome. End of story.
But “Skin Deep” was surprisingly sweet and heartbreaking. It made me view Rumpel in whole new light. I almost feel wierd for liking this ship, but it’s true. I love it to pieces. 😀[adrotate group="5"]There’s only so much the writers can cram into one episode. Reunions, dragons, magic, double-crossing…it’s a lot to fit into a single episode. So, I wasn’t at all disappointed. I was pleasantly surprised by just how much screentime Belle and Gold actually got. I thought the writers were just going to have Regina tell Mr. Gold about Belle, and then BOOM. THE END. 😯 So, for them to have 2 reunion scenes and mutal exchanges of “I love you” was more than I could have asked for. 😀
The first scene in the shop was my favorite scene of the entire episode. Mr. Gold was so genuinely shocked and releaved to see Belle again. Tears in his eyes, having to touch her to see if she was real…it was too perfect. 😥
I’m also not too concerned about their love story as a whole. Like others have noted, the writers are in love with love. They mention true love in almost every episode. We’ve already seen that Belle is the key to breaking Rumpel’s curse. And in the end, I think she’s going to be the one to save him.

I have a soft spot for Rumpelstiltskin and Belle’s romance. They’re my ultimate couple. I love dark romances and this is the classic example of one. I can’t wait to see where their journey goes in season 2. 😀

I was worried about Belle dying in the finale, but my fears have been wiped away. I’m glad to hear that her story will be prominent in season 2 as well. And I can’t tell you how happy I am that Belle and Gold will be reuniting in the finale. I was seriously beginning to doubt it.@Josephine wrote:

Hmm, possibly. I just wish we got a flashback of what happened to Belle after she left Rumpel’s castle. That whole story is just a muddle mess for me. 😕
Great theory! It would explain why Rumpel was left out of the book. And I aslo think it would be quite sweet if Belle left his story out to protect him. 😀
I’m hoping that the writers’ statements about Belle playing a very important role in the finale is a clue to her possibly being the author of the book. Or maybe they’re just hinting at her finally be rescued. Who knows? But I like the theory nonetheless. The way the show left off on Belle’s story was very “to be continued…” They made it seem as if her story would be coming back in full force later on in the season.
It would also help explian why Belle was still running around free after she left Rumpel. I’m almost beginning to think that Regina captured her after the curse took effect.
I read in another thread that maybe Atlantis and Camelot are behind one of the doors. I would love for that happen. Atlantis would be a very interesting world to explore.
I’m calling that the curse will be broken in the season finale, but due to their lack of knowledge about magic, the curse-breakers will be punished somehow. All magic comes with a price.
