Hmm interesting thoughts everyone. I really hope we do get to see the first few hours in SB – how cool to think about! I’m not convinced everyone just landed in the correct spot.. but I think maybe Regina had a chance to organize the curse as she liked. As she wasn’t the one to create the curse, i cant see how it would know where she wanted everyone. Belle i can kind of understand – all she wanted was adventure and freedom, so for her to be locked up is taking away her happiness. It could also be she was locked up in FTL so that transferred over like David’s unconsciousness.
[adrotate group="5"]BelleOfTheBallParticipantI can’t even hear the title “Fox and the Hound” without getting choked up. I watched it as a kid and i haven’t seen it since… but I remember how much I cried, and I know I will still cry just as much now. I am all for the ‘Henry dies temporarily’ theory, he would absolutely do something that drastic to make his point. We have seen him do a lot of drastic things in the past to prove a point – running into collapsing mines, leaving Storybrook to get Emma, things like that. If Emma can bring Henry back to life with a mothers love, I think she will be more inclined to listen to him.
BelleOfTheBallParticipantHmm, I hadn’t thought about this. We know that Pinnoc was at least mentioned in the book because we saw him in the pilot with Gepetto. So whoever wrote the book knew that he at least existed in FTL. As to why his story wasn’t included, it could be no one knew it. Other than the Blue Fairy and Jiminy, how many people knew that Gepetto had a puppet that was turned into a real boy? Or, perhaps the story wasn’t included because at the time of writing the book, someone thought the story wouldn’t be important to Emma knowing about the curse (assuming they knew nothing about Pinnoc going through the wardrobe as well).
BelleOfTheBallParticipantAlthough what Gepetto did was selfish for himself and Pinnoc, I can’t say that I blame him, all circumstances considered. All he ever wanted in his life was to have a boy, a real boy. And that was finally granted to him and almost instantly it was about to be taken back. If you could save someone you loved from dying, wouldn’t you? I know I would. It wasn’t the admirable thing to do, but his love for his son blinded him and he couldn’t bare to think he would be responsible for his son’s death. It makes us angry because we know if Snow had gone through, everything would have been different – but then in that case, we wouldn’t have a show 😆
As for Emma, I agree that there are very few things for her to see as hard evidence that she is living with a bunch of Fairy Tale Characters. Like many of you pointed out, we (as the audience) know many more ‘behind the scenes’ details that convinced us. It is easy for us to believe because of all we have seen, hence why we think Emma should believe. But she hasn’t seen it all, and it’s quite true how little hard evidence she has seen. As pointed out, the keys are the only bit of real evidence that links the book and SB together. I think they did throw her off a bit, but she was too busy worrying about MM being set up to think about the keys.
Did she actually ever see the keys in the book? I can’t remember, so many episodes now and I didn’t record them so I can’t look back. Thats a mistake I wont make season 2! 🙂
And yes, most of the people she has heard about FTL from have not been the best – crazy man locked in a house for 28 years spying on a little girl, a 10 year old boy who reads the stories out of a book, and some stranger who just showed up recently in town and is apparently dying. However, out of these I thought that August would be the best chance for her to believe, but the fact that she couldn’t even see his leg shot that down pretty fast. Which leads me to wonder… do you think August is the only one who can see what is happening to him? Or maybe only the believers can?
BelleOfTheBallParticipantThat paperweight almost looks like a donkey to me – which makes me think Pinocchio. When Pinocchio goes to Pleasure Island in the Disney version of the movie, he is transformed into a donkey. I am totally lost as to who August is… but this is my interpretation on the paper weight on his desk!
BelleOfTheBallParticipantI agree, Hjbau, I think Emma put the hat in her car. I think the hatter did get transported through the hat only because of the careful placing of the hat on the ground. It was facing directly upward – the same way it was when the EQ and the hatter jumped into it in FTL. I also believed him to be back in FTL or Wonderland because of the quick clip they showed of him making hats when Emma looked through Henry’s book. It seemed to me he was frantically trying to make a hat to transport him. This could be the hat that the Queen of Hearts asked him to make, or it could be a new hat he was trying to make to get back to SB?
BelleOfTheBallParticipantRumple/Gold is like the Severus Snape of OUAT – I don’t think we are going to know if he is good or bad until the end when he proves himself. For now, I have to agree that he is playing both sides to get what he wants. I can’t believe he is working with Regina, at least not completely. I think perhaps, like the fire that caused Emma to be Sheriff, Gold does things knowing how they will turn out in the end. Perhaps this is just a way to convince Regina that he is more with her than Emma – or perhaps we are going to see Gold fail at MM trial and work with the EQ for a short time. Regina knows he is cunning – I believe she realizes he is about as trustworthy as her. And we have no idea it wasn’t Rumples idea for the hatter to find the escaped MM. He could have tipped him off and we don’t know it yet.
So many questions, so little answers! But thats what i love about the show – being caught on the edge of your seat at the end of each episode! 😀
BelleOfTheBallParticipantI would love it if they could carry it out and have it all tie up into a neat little bow at the end with 85-90 percent of the questions answered in the end. Although I accepted the writers ending for LOST I never felt completely satisfied because there were too many questions they left unanswered. I hope they don’t do that here.
This has been my BIGGEST concern for OUAT. I absolutely loved LOST and followed it closely. But at the finale, I felt disappointed and honestly like I had wasted my time watching a show that never answered so many questions. So when I fell in love with this show, it was obviously a concern that large questions wouldn’t be answered and I would again feel cheated from the show. I hope this is not the case, and they perhaps learned from LOST.
As for where the finale is going for the season, I agree with many others in saying the full arc will be James kissing Snow in the glass coffin and awakening her. It makes perfect sense. The second season can focus on the time between the marriage and the curse (we know at least 9 months, but why not more?) Or it could focus on James getting his kingdom back. I feel something must happen to the king – as we know neither Regina or James’ father will allow either of our storybook favorites to rule a kingdom without a fight.
BelleOfTheBallParticipantIs anyone else hoping that David just crashes through the door and ACTUALLY does something heroic? I realize this is highly improbable judging by the promos we’ve seen – but he really needs to redeem himself.
As for the next episode, it looks VERY dark. I am excited to see how they continue to escalate the show. And with the hatter causing this many problems, can we expect to ever see him again in the future? Pointing a gun at the sheriff and kidnapping two people is not something I can see anyone let pass with no repercussion.
Also, the “off with her head” line is PERFECT. Loved it!
BelleOfTheBallParticipantI do not think it is a coincidence that one episode is titled “the Return” and the one directly after is titled “the stranger”. I assume both titles tie together – mainly in the case of August. It wouldn’t surprise me if in “the return” we discover this wasn’t August’s first time in SB and when/why he was there before. I believe the episode will leave us on a cliff hanger which will be picked up in “the Stranger” where we will finally discover who August is.
I do find it interesting that the Pinocchio episode is called “the stranger”. This makes me think a little closer about the theory of august being pinocchio – a theory I was not convinced of until I saw the theme of the episode and the title.
