ParticipantWhat is ‘dark magic’ anyway? Did it originate with Nimue? If it did then since her initial magic (immortality at least) came from The Holy Grail, which in Once is either A source or possibly THE source of ‘light magic’ in all the realms (debatable I’m sure… did fairies get magic from the grail. Is fairy magic light magic at all or just shady?). Nimue became ‘dark’ after she killed someone… wouldn’t that mean that dark magic is just light magic that has been corrupted by bad choices/sin?
Yeah, I don’t think it could have originated with Nimue since there was the evil guy – Vortigan? – she killed when she became the first Dark One.
Did Vortigan have magic though? All I remember is that he had a mask and killed people. Evil would’ve existed before Nimue because… humans. But did dark magic exist before then? I think it’s an interesting question that I in no way want the writers to try and answer because they’ve loused up The Dark One mythology enough already. (I wanted The Dark Ones to be an ancient evil from the dawn of time or something. ‘Nimue’ imo really weakened the story)

ParticipantThe gnarled twisted up Once family tree is one of my favorite things about the show. I love that nearly everyone is related to everyone else in some way. The only problem is the show forgets about that so much of the time.

Participant‘A New Hope’ is perfect! I wouldn’t be surprised if they use that one.
A few other suggestions:
– The Dark One, The Witch, and the Wardrobe
– Operation Cobra part 12
– Where Have All The Heroes Gone?
– 3 Villains and a Little Lady!

ParticipantOk I just voted. It was extremely painful, but I did it. I recounted three times so I’m pretty sure I only sent in twenty.
I may complain about the shows quality from time to time, but looking at that list certainly reminds you how many great episodes there have been. It was painful to only vote for twenty. Granted I picked 8 from season 1 and 0 from season 6, so I guess maybe quality is an issue after all.
I agree that the people who voted 21 are probably accidents and I’m fine with keeping those. 23-25… come on. I know it’s painful to only get to pick twenty, but a limit had to be set somewhere. I would’ve loved to save at least ten more episodes, but I’m ok with the twenty I picked and I’m very interested to see which episodes top the list and which fall off without a vote.

ParticipantSo we would only be voting to SAVE our favorite episodes yes? no down voting? I’d love to participate in a save vote, but I would hate to get mired into a down voting war. That kind of nonsense sucks all the fun out of stuff like this.

ParticipantWhy all this fuss? Milah is a weakly drawn character with no redeeming qualities that I can recall. We’re meant to side with Rumple in regards to Milah and most do. That’s exactly what the writers were going for.

ParticipantAs far as I can figure the Snow/Charming and Emma/Henry TLKs were purely for the parallels from season one. Nothing else about them makes sense. Once loves character parallels and they will jump through any hoop they have to to get a Charming a chance to say some variation of ‘I will always find you’ or a Stiltskin to be abandoned as a child or to abandon one of their own kids or I don’t know make a rum joke at about Hook.
Don’t get me wrong I love a well written parallel as much as the next person, but it has to fit the story and make sense. I don’t know why the Once writers keep missing that point.

ParticipantI can’t speak to what this will do for the ratings (or the podcast!) but for me personally moving Once to Friday’s will be a welcome change.

ParticipantOne thing that really confused me was I mixed up Rumble killing Fiona breaking the curse with TL breaking the curse. That did not make me happy, I was going, so what, killing someone for TL (of his wife/kid supposedly) now counts as worthy of a TL curse-breaking powers?! *laughs* They really should have made that distinct… They have ended so many curses with TLK I can’t recall what it has looked like when they did not use it. Those should really be more distinguishable….
I don’t know for sure and haven’t re-watched yet, but I thought the curse broke because someone (Rumple) killed the person who cast it (Black Fairy). Presumably if Snow and Charming had offed Regina back during season one’s curse then that curse would’ve broken at that moment too? Are we 100% sure that only true love’s kiss (as inconsistent as it is) can break the dark curse? Killing the curser seems like a reasonable plan B to me.
