Bo-PeepsParticipant
I am allll for Hook… line and sinker (grin)…but..
Trust nothing, expect nothing! Just enjoy individual hopes…while this plays out the way A&E want to play it out. We truly have no say! It’s never going to be what any of us want, totally.(or it couldn’t stay in the family hour! wink) And that is what the wonderful fanfic sites are for…creative story telling above and beyond.
The way A&E (mostly *A*) plays around for whatever reasons online, these blocked scenes could just as easily be Emma saying she is going back to New York after someone else has the guts to make a commitment or gets married or manages to stay alive in spite of the dreaded DEATH spoiler of January ! Or not, they could be emotional affirmations 🙂 Adam, as much as he must hate leaked photos, open shoots~ he also thrives on them to keep the interest alive. I’m betting they could block much more in outside settings if they realllly wanted to. Hugs with Hook and Emma and Emma with Walsh and blah blah. HA! All he tends to say is “it is not what it seems”, or “who said that” or “perhaps” or “stay tuned” or “believe only meeeee”. All the while he says basically, nothing, but gleefully teases the (fill in the blank) out of the fans who loyally follow him. Alll about the control. All part of the marketing/ego game. It’s a two way street…this love/hate twitter world. Much of it is purposeful. It is as misleading as it is encouraging. They edit out dozens of scenes in a season, even ones the network have exploited themselves in trailers. Scenes that never materialize. Regina and the Once Upon a Time Book for instance.
Now, from my only- one-woman’s-opinion take of the forest scene, Emma was the one bringing up his swashbuckling adventures. She was the one being snarky about where he was and what he was doing. Lying? “Excuse me” is exactly right, Emma.
Methinks she was trying to, in a not so honest, *projection* way, blame Hook for not finding her sooner, for not saving her sooner, so she could have avoided the whole embarrassing Walsh episode. Blame him for her getting so comfortable in her new faked life. So when he stood his ground and passed it right back at her without getting as angry as he had a right to be(yessss) she tried to go back to the old *wound him first* routine. *You like seeing me have my heart broken?* (she didn’t seem so heart broken when she was back at her apartment after running out on the proposal.)
He wisely wasn’t buying that… force fed BALONEY. And he knew she wouldn’t take it the wrong way, even though he made that disclaimer…
This isn’t Hook’s fault. He knows it, she knows it, and she now knows HE knows it. (grin) Hook is not afraid to (patiently but quite honestly) point that out, Fair Lady. There are two real hearts involved. Recognize it, Ms. Swan. Yours is just one of them.
CUE the music, indeed!!
Go Hook!!!
One thing is sure, in the season finale they have to present some kind of dramatic catch to keep fans interest alive over the summer. In regards to CS fans, that particular relationship struggle tends to take the hiatus hits. They should…tread carefully there. Timing is everything! And it is about dayammm time for Emma to get with the program .

Bo-PeepsParticipantWell, whoever the flying, fang bearing simian is…Emma didn’t shoot him…easy shot, bang, dead; David doesn’t have to fight it and they can both run after Rumple.
So, a good guess is…the monkey is “someone”!
And what voices aren’t screaming in our beloved Imp’s head? He’s messed with everyone for 300 years!!!
Fun fun fun.

Bo-PeepsParticipantAlright. I am having a slight impatient moment. I need to just get this gently out of my system among kindred spirits.
Darlin, savior, Emma ~get off your emotional duff and see what is right in front of your too frowny face. Unresolved Sexual Tension is one (good and fun) thing. Gradually building up a beautiful denouement to a deep true love affair is another (good and fun) thing. But for the love of gawd and all things resplendently sexy, Emma, quit internalizing everything so dayammmm much, agonizing over every minute detail, wallowing in what *every testosterone (and monkey-rone) human in your life has done to you* and do what you did that made us all go fluft from crotch to brain and back…grab the guy by the leather and because you are feeling good, and because IT feels good, smooosh kisses all over his kisser. He has THE perfect face and heart for it!!!!!
Lawdy, you are wasting some realllly precious, passionate moments, lady fair. SNAP OUT of it….soon!(What you are missing, woman, is a life tragedy far worse than a flaky furniture making flying monkey going ape on you!!!!) Oh, and smile.
Hook…luscious lust muffin of my TV existence, your sensitive, caring, brooding, throbbing, soulful, determined, devoted, sensual, eye ears nose and throat emoting patience… is driving me NUTS. Yeah, yeah, I know, I KNOW, I GET it.
I am (apparently not) too old for this sh…cra…stuff(ha!)
(taking a “calm-yourself way down, Bo”, pink patience dear goddess patience pill and laughingggggg)
OK, I feel a little better now. G’nite all. Carry on.

Bo-PeepsParticipantWell, shut my mouth, THIS is going to be fun!

Bo-PeepsParticipantI’d try and follow that thread if you make it Grimmsistr 🙂 If not, here are some thoughts:
I think they do a pretty good job of “selectively” blending, or attempting to blend good and evil. Their moments of well thought out character development shine, even hidden among the painfully presented *duh*/filler stuff! The writers have made Snow, in particular, do some of the *dumb to the bone* things I mentioned. But every character has had their *excuse meeee, whaaaat?* moments. I just hope they don’t shift to the *duh* side any further.
It may not be the best of consistent writing (and I still hold with the belief that they are hampered a lot with the 41 minutes of commercial riddled air time, non-cable, Sunday Family before 9, time slot . It SUCKS.) But the potential is still irresistible. (like you, I feel that the *gut* level of the writing is often lacking. Fans often come up with some much more intensely interesting twists and turns!) It takes quite the talent to tackle the challenge of tweaking formulaic writing. A and E and writers hit, then miss, then knock some things out of the park.
The line between struggling, flawed heroes and wretched villains can get very thin…the line between principled protagonist and dimwitted goody goody can be stretched to extreme limits, too… and the speed in which they choose to unfold and intertwine the plotlines is a detriment to great writing. TV audiences are fickle and all have a certain depth of ADD. They aren’t patient. I think viewers hurt themselves in that regard because the studios/writers feed the attention spans of the audiences. Vicious cycle.
They’ve done some really good things with Rumple and Regina, Cora, Hook, Emma…and numerous secondary characters. Even the Charmings! Some leave us shaking our heads. But they are actually in there fighting the good fight of providing an intriguing tale for us. Shrugggg…
… the unavoidable nature of the television beast.

Bo-PeepsParticipantToto (and dogs) are braver and more honest than mere people, too (wink) No second thoughts, they just DO IT from the heart.
It would be no shame at all to be associated with a feisty, loyal, dog. He was the one constant for Dorothy throughout her whole Adventure.
La la laaaa
***Always in search of a good flock***
Bo-PeepsParticipantYup. I agree as well. Basically Evil is what makes the story lines move and keeps the audiences tuning in.
We can also identify with smart villainy and live vicariously through intelligently scripted wickedness while trying to live actual good lives ourselves. It is mostly harder for a good heart to maintain it’s goodness and thus, its strength, than it is for an evil heart to do things without impunity. It is often an underappreciated strength. Goodness is not always easily dramatized which can at times seem rather boring, but not really *stupid*.
On the other hand…(grin) sometimes the really good to the soul characters have made some dumb to the bone moves, and likewise, the bad/rotten seeds have moments of shining smart goodness.
They all kind of meld in the middle. Keeps us all on our *viewer* toes. What is so irresistible about OUAT is the blending of personal layers of Good and Not so Good :), dumb and smart.

Bo-PeepsParticipant(Thanks for correcting the Spoiler for me. My oversight!)
(Soft smile) I didn’t say what Hook had been doing was certain. What I said was ~it was fairly obvious that what happened (in that year…etc) would be addressed in future episodes. That still stands. It is fairly obvious because that is what A and E DO… Address things in future episodes.
I said we can all suppose what happened about …Hook …or anyone. Our “suppositions” just weren’t on the same page.
but small word differences aside… No matter . We will find out soon!
🙂
I’m out until tomorrow or Wednesday night. thanks for the conversation!
***Always in search of a good flock***
Bo-PeepsParticipant“Is it?”
Yes, it is 🙂 What you have listed are things that we already have heard and seen. The remaining episodes, as they do for every story line and every character, tell us more and fill in more blanks. This is what A and E do for every character. Hook is not the exception.
“The only thing consistent in his story is that he was out having some sort of adventure.”
An adventure that has yet to be defined, has it not? It will be in the remaining episodes. Starting, I imagine, with The Jolly Roger, but maybe sooner when he and Henry head out into the night, or he meets up with Ariel as seen in the future set pics.
Every character on this show has unknown histories, personal denials, hidden demons plaguing their last year. All are being exposed as we go.
***Always in search of a good flock***
Bo-PeepsParticipant“So…what else?”
Welll, there’s the dramatic mystery hanging out there in the air and we can all only suppose, yes?
It’s fairly obvious that the year he spent searching for Emma before he *at last* found her will be addressed in the remaining episodes.
🙂
