Is it weird that I felt the most genuine Neal emotions in tonight’s episode (apart from Rumple, of course) came from Hook? If I didn’t feel as though those scenes were cynically setting up CS and stepdaddy Hook, I would have actually liked them unreservedly. Colin played it with a suitable amount of subdued guilt, and he actually for once seemed more concern with Bae’s legacy than anything ulterior involving Emma.

I mean, I still think he’s a long way from being consistently written, but it’s something.

I agree with you. If you take away any mistrust you may have of Hook, and just listen to the words, Hook and Henry were expressing genuine emotions about the loss of Henry’s father. Their conversation was cathartic to each of them, and I truely believe that Neal would have been happy that Hook took the time to console his son. Neal and Henry really are a lot alike, as Hook said.
I also agree with Hook when he advised Emma to tell Henry the truth about his father. But Emma’s walls are so high, higher than ever, that she doesn’t listen.

I thought tonight young Regina, wearing blue and with pigtails, looked an aweful lot like Dorothy.
I have no clue about the timeline, but I still like the thought that the slippers are Ruby’s slippers.

Zelena was born with magic. Strong magic, different from everyone else in her family. Magic things happened when her emotions changed, and there was nobody around to explain it to her when she was young. She’s different. And her father didn’t abandon her, he was cruel to her. Not just mean or bitter, he was cruel and demeaning to her.

Her words to Rumple, as she shaved him, and I’m paraphrasing, you have to look presentable on the outside so what’s rotting on the inside won’t show.

Her back story was told so quickly that we never really got to see her feelings slowly fester and rot inside her, but they did. We never saw how her father rotted her pride, her confidence, her soul.

But then, the wizard showed her what was. She saw what could have been. She changed it to what should have been, and eventually what she would spend her life working toward. To get what she thought should be hers. Her obsessive self pity, her sense of entitlement, greed, envy, rage. Those ore strong emotions. Very strong. And when you can’t learn to reign them in, and put them in perspective, you become unstable.
So, yeah, I agree. She’s emotionally unstable.

Zelena was born with magic already in her, even as a baby. Very strong magic that she didn’t know how to control (like Elsa). So, she obviously comes from strong magical parentage.

Whoever her papa is, he’s gotta be one very powerful wizard.

I loved every bit of this episode. (I didn’t watch the funeral, because I knew I wouldn’t like it).

I understand Emma’s walls of emotion built of steel this episode. She’s more closed off than ever.

Loved Regina showing vulnerability to Robin as she realized the letter was about Zelena, and not about her as she had always believed. And her realizing that her sister was stronger than she was. I also loved. Regina learning something from her sister. She really never appreciated the things that were right in front of her. I hope she explores that with her relationships, and not just with Robin, cuz she was mean snarky to Granny for no reason.

Belle, being unafraid, and going to Rumple. I love her tenacity. She will never give up.

I loved Hook and Henry together. I don’t ship, I just loved that he took the time to be with Henry. I think he did it out of respect for Bae. It was cathartic to both Hook and Henry. But I also liked the old Henry coming back. Inquisitive Henry. How can you be the same age as my Dad? It’s like he’s collecting pieces of a puzzle. But he doesn’t know what the puzzles supposed to look like. I understand why the writers haven’t given him te book yet. He needs to collect a few more pieces before the book will make sense to him.

I loved Regina and Zelena together. With each sentence they stepped closer and closer into each other’s space. I loved their battle, in that Regina, even though she had concluded she would lose, never backed down. She stood toe toe with her sister, lost the magic battle, but then won the war of words. Regina kept her cool, while Zelena totally lost it in the end.

Zelenas back story was told quickly, maybe too quickly, but we got the gyst of it, and it was a good story.

It’s actually Cora’s story that raises questions. Pretty suspicious that she put the basket down and it’s taken to Oz in a tornado. Did Cora raise the winds and create the tornado? She didn’t have magic back then, soo, who helped her? And, also, if Cora had no magic back then, how was Zelena born magical? Baby Zelena threw that tree using a magical wave of her fingers.

I think we learned from a noble man. Sometimes there are no second chances.

She will look like who she really is. A lonely, lost, evil, vindictive little girl who’s looking for someone to love her.

AS I said before…. the villain of the month always rule the entire season / segment … blasting away at the EF/FT characters… they get stomped on and blasted and they do not get any justice until the finale …. such a tired formula.

    .

Yet each season they throw someone into the mix to rescue or defeat to remind us who the heroes are. Medusa….Rapunzel

Take care my friends. Tonight will be a bittersweet episode. I hope they treat you kindly, and respect the memories of our sweet Neal. I plan on having his memorial service on mute and listen instead to Dolly singing I Will Always Love You. I really don’t want to listen to the writers words in this scene. No matter how it’s portrayed, it won’t be good enough.

Get those tissues ready, it’s gonna be a tearjerker, and a bitter pill to swallow when it’s too short a scene.

I love this theory! Zelena ripping out Robin’s heart would be oh so wicked. Timing would be crucial though. Can’t rip that heart out until Regina makes the choice to let her guard down and chooses to take a chance on love.
The parallel stories and reversed roles are so intriguing to watch.

Also, the larger face, with the hole being the mouth. Looks like a creepy face portal tree.

Ah yes, I see that too now. And the little branch off the side looks like a raised arm with a raised finger, which makes the whole thing looks like it’s screaming an anguished battle cry or something.

Obviously an enchanted tree of some sort.

The shape of the hole looks like a doorway to me.

Is there a tiny firefly? Fairy light? Near the base of the tree, on the left? A Gold fairy?

Hopefully this is a portal pointing towards our next season’s adventures. I would love a lighter, happier adventure for season 4A.
