ONCE - Once Upon a Time podcast
Reviews, theories, and talk about ABC's Once Upon a Time TV show
Probably one of my most favorite episodes, maybe because so many were in it and they kept things moving forward.
I liked the parallel of Regina claiming to be the Savior in Camelot and her needing to be the Savior in present day Storybrooke. Because of that I thought the writing of this episode quite good. Also the reminder that all magic comes with a price and that this is the rule for a Dark One, but not made by him? Who made the magic rules? And as so poignantly pointed out does the rule apply to others who use magic?
Anyway, I liked the scene at the town line. That Dopey became a tree, ha. I was sorry there weren’t apples. 🙂 I thought this was whimsical, and I like when there is a little bit of whimsical.
I liked that Regina got called out by Sir Percival even though no one else heard.
I liked the twist that Regina couldn’t save Robin, that Emma had to, and I think this is going to be a plot point marching into the season.
I like that Emma is changing each time she uses magic. In fact, I think she will keep saving people with Dark Magic and continue to change and that her guise in Storybrooke isn’t really what she looks like. I think she looks more like Rumplestiltskin.
And frankly, I thought the end explaining Emma’s plan with Rumple whispering in her head was well played and one of the best plot points ever. Still stunned that the sword in the stone is in her basement even after watching it again. An awesome twist, and that she would want to snuff out the light in her family and friends.
I thought the CGI Fury was pretty good.
I agree with onceaholic that I am getting tired of Robin always looking weak.
“Robin looked weak. Again. I am all for girl-power and both partners saving each other, but given the the fact that he is supposed to be ROBIN HOOD I am getting a bit sick of Regina saving him and then mothering him afterwards. This time it is was understandable…he saved Regina then got swept up by the Fury but I always wonder when he will next be attacked and unable to defend himself again by some other person or creature.”
My least favorite part was probably the ball itself. Seemed bland overall. I think I expected something grander. Not sure what I expected. The other ball (end of season 3) seemed more colorful and fun to me.
