I don’t know, as people have mentioned it might be because getting rid of “dark” magic is the “right” thing to do, but at the end of the day it’s going back to the original question of “do the ends justify the means?”

I’m beginning to have doubts about whether she wanted to get rid of dark magic! She could have done so with no muss, no fuss by telling Bae about the kiss, and everyone in FTL would’ve been better off. Unless it’s a yin-yang thing (Dark magic has to exist for good magic to exist) or unless there was something that the universe needed Rumple to do (like create the curse) that he could do only while he had dark magic…

If the writers really want to torment us, they’ll reveal that Gold’s first name is Henry.

Let’s not forget that this true love potion that was tossed into the well is from SW/PC’s true love..so I’m thinking one of the things that will tie into this new world is the “product of the magic”/Emma finding her true love..or accepting true love.

And to say it out loud, as she did with Henry. She’s shown her love for MM plenty of times, but she’s struggled with saying the words. She has to allow herself to become vulnerable, just as MM did with David (and as David tried to do with MM) . Gold has the same problem: he’s now gone so far as to say the words but he wouldn’t risk even a few moments of vulnerability, not even long enough for a kiss.

I don ‘t think it’ll be long before Emma tells MM she loves her, but telling David is another matter. If he starts acting like Charming instead of David, she’ll start to admire him, and someday she’ll love him.

Can’t I just buy Mr. Gold?

Sorry, Josephine, Belle already paid that price!

It does seem assumed and taken for granted that Bae is Henry’s father. I just hope if he was planned to be the father that the writers don’t say “Oh crap, they’ve figured us out, lets not make him the dad anymore.”

    🙄
You’re right, Josephine, it’s August all over again…except we have about 4 additional months (at least) to let the mystery drive us nuts before we find out who Henry’s dad is. After getting caught up in the August mystery, I can’t go through that hunt again! I ‘ll be scutinizing every male character–even the redheads, blonds and bald ones, for signs! I’ll be spelling characters’ names backwards, in case I find the letters BAE..looking up etymologies for every name…I ‘ll be analyzing license plates, studying props in the background anytime a male is on screen, just in case a there’s a sign…what do you wanna bet the writers will tease us by having a stranger walk into Granny’s and order a plate of BEANS??? Egads, my li’l ol’ heart can’t take the wait!

    Dreamy
In SB, Mother Superior chews Astrid out for a clerical error: “You know how he feels about us.” Astrid tells Leroy that Gold is the convent’s landlord and “if we miss a payment we’re out.”
In FTL, the dwarves encounter Belle in a tavern: she points out that Dreamy’s in love; she knows love when she sees it. “Love is hope; it fuels our dreams. . . love doesn’t always last forever. . . I’ve had my heart broken enough to know when somebody’s reaching out.”
Back in SB, Leroy tries to sell his boat to Gold. Gold seems to be willng to bargain until he hears the money will benefit the nuns. He argues that the rental agreement is specific and permits him to evict upon failure to make a single payment. He calls the nuns “distasteful tenants” and says, “I have a long, complicated history with them.”

Favorite moments: Charming vs. the siren. The siren’s a fascinating villain–wish we could see more of her. And that Charming is one devoted dude. I also like Abigail’s turn-around. We start off thinking she’s a spoiled brat and find out she’s a strong gal with her own problems.

Least favorite: no Rumple. Not even a Mr. Gold walk-by.

The producers just confirmed on Twitter that Mr. Gold does in fact have a first name and that it will be revealed in season 2. 😉

Wow, the filming on season 2 hasn’t even begun yet and already I’m wrong in one of my predictions. All I can say is, Rumple better do some major sword-slapping to make up for all my wrong predictions.

There’s a great tongue-in-cheek poem that offers a theory as to why the sirens have such power of men: http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/siren-song/
