Short interview with Eddy – he says the game-changer for Rumple and Nealfire will happen in Second Star to the Right!

Makes sense. The reports we had of ‘…And Straight On Till Morning’ were that MRJ filmed his scenes in only one or two days and solely with Sarah, Jamie and Julian. He’s clearly been separated from the main cast in the finale, so there was no way this game changer could’ve happened there.

Interesting, but then you have August remembering from when he was 7 what Bae was like at 14, yet Bae is unable to recognize August at the same time. That’s not impossible, but a bit of a stretch. I suppose August would have changed more (there’s almost a pun there…). Anyway, I think both child actors do a good job, so wouldn’t mind seeing them again if it did play out that way.

Well, not only Pinocchio would’ve been wooden in this scenario, but we’ve also been shown in “The Stranger” that wooden puppet Pinocchio is vastly different from human boy Pinocchio. It’s not a big leap then to believe that August would’ve recognized Neal as Bae, but not the other way around.

Yes, but Pinnochio knew Bae’s name, which is more than the rest of the FTL people would have known. So what I was wondering was whether he knew more than just a name and that Neal came from FTL, or did he have more context and background? If Pino had the context, then he wouldn’t have said “crossfire” would he? So then, it seems likely that whoever told Pino about Neal only told him the name and that Neal was from FTL. Why hold the rest back? Who was this mysterious source of information? As others have theorized, it could have been Jefferson who had knowledge but was trapped in his house. Then we start to wonder how August could have ever found out about him.

About that. My pet theory is that August’s source of information is himself. I believe he met Baelfire as a young puppet boy in Neverland.

How, you might ask? I think we’ll eventually find out that Peter Pan, be him Bae or his own character (the latter my personal preference), will fulfill the role of Pinocchio’s friend Lampwick, with Neverland being his Pleasure Island and Hook the Coachman. Both Lampwick and the Coachman will never be featured in the show the way they were portrayed in Disney’s Pinocchio – Lampwick smoking cigars, drinking beer and being a vandal altogether, the Coachman having serious devil undertones -, so Peter and Hook fit well as lighter versions of those characters. This explains rather well why the showrunners are holding back how August knew Neal was Bae – the explanation requires the introduction of Peter Pan, a character they’ll only show in season 3.

August: There’s a curse… And it needs to be broken. Emma, is the key. I was tasked with keeping her on track and you, my friend, just got caught in the crossfire. Now, I’m going to tell you a story. And, at the end of it, you’re going to have to make a decision. Will you do the right thing, or not? So… Are you ready?

It’s kind of unclear from that whether August knew the whole story about Neal. Why say Neal was caught in the crossfire, if Neal was the reason for the curse to be enacted in the first place?

I think it’s a simple case of only Rumple and the audience knowing the true story behind the curse. For everyone else, Regina created it and used it to damned their world; in that sense, Neal/Bae was indeed caught in the crossfire, for he would have nothing to do with it. We, of course, know otherwise. 🙂

The look of guilt though is probably because thinks she should be able to save everyone and this one time she failed and thus feels very guilty. I seriously doubt it’s Neal because we still know very little about him and his backstory and his relationship with Hook.

Not necessarily. This could be a case of Neal being gone for good as far as they know (the wraith, Emma witnessing him get badly shot and falling into a river, …), but he’ll be back somehow.

In fact, the certainty of the impossibility of a future with Neal may be what pushes Emma towards a relationship with Captain Hook, and when Neal returns the stage will be set for a triangle between the three of them.

ETA: Did anyone else notice Emma dressed for what looks like a funeral? Whose could it be? Maybe it’s Granny’s. 😥

I think it’s meant to be Neal’s, the season finale does feature Henry on a swing, possibly feeling depressed, and then he cries over Emma's shoulder. We know he doesn't actually die, but that may be how it seems for them.

Edit: I keep forgetting I’m on an episode spoiler forum and I should put spoiler tags over those that are known to be for future episodes. 😳

I don’t think Belle’s personality would shift *that* dramatically after she remembers. She is definitely still dressed as Lacey in this scene. I just don’t see Belle choosing to dress that way after she remembers. Also, the scene describes Gold beating on Whale while Belle just stands there and watches- no way a Belle who remembers would not step in. The finale is really a two parter. I can see them making Belle’s memories part of it. I will be very surprised if she is only Lacey for one episode.

About Belle’s dressing as Lacey. I remember way back when we started getting spoilers for “The Cricket Game” that people felt Emma and Snow’s different clothing style was a sign that Hook and Cora were impersonating them; in the end, it was merely the show’s way to showcase us the change in both women’s lives.

Agreed. I think they will wrap up the Belle memory story in 19 (all the promotions for it thus far seem to indicate that Rumbelle will be back together soon).

I think the fact that Sneezy will also be featured in the episode is a good sign that the memory loss will indeed be wrapped in “Lacey”. IIRC, Adam suggested he’d also get back his.

A few weeks ago Ethan Embry responded to a question I asked him on Twitter, if he would be on OUaT for S3 and he said (paraphrasing) ‘maybe.” So I wonder if Greg’s story will also wrap up by season’s end and we’ll be left fighting with Tamara.

Greg’s casting call specifically mentioned an option for season 3, unlike Tamara’s (though Matt Mitovich mentioned she could spill over to it when Sonequa’s casting was announced, who knows what’ll actually happen), so I’m leaning towards his story not ending in the finale. I think Ethan’s “maybe” is just because a definite positive statement would mean his character doesn’t die, which is kind of a spoiler when you think about it.
