After Regina and Rumple episodes, I was excited to get back to other characters of the show.
I have to say that this one if probably one of personnel favorite, along with Lost Girl and The Heart of the Truest Believer.
I think Colin o’donoghue shined in this episode–I loved how young and carefree and happy he was in the flashbacks. I wish we had more development for the relationship with his brother, but it still was done decently well.
Scenes I loved–
1). All the flashbacks–like I said above, it was great to see a young Hook with his brother.
2). Pan trying to make a deal with Hook–the way the actors played out that scene was spectacular. I loved how Pan talked to Hook–in a superior, older manner. Hook could barely even look Pan in the eye.
3). Hook and Charming–I love their relationship. They have so much in common, and it was great seeing them. I totally got why Charming was angry and suspicious of Hook, and it was great to see them slowly trust one another.
4). Captain Swan–I really like this ship a lot. I like the chemistry and I like the understanding they have, as well as how Hook cares for Emma. I really hope we get more of them.
5). No Rumple and no Belle–the former has been particularly lagging in these few episodes. Which is ironic, since he told Emma in the beginning of the season that she did not have what it took to find and rescue Henry, and yet she got more done than he did.
I found it to overall be one of the strongest episodes.

I enjoyed the performances, particularly from MRJ, Robert Carlyle, and Robbie Kay, butt he episode itself just felt old.
It one again was revisiting Rumple’s old fears of being a coward and everyone leaving him, and while those are reasonable fears, I just cannot help but not take it all that seriously due to the fact that we have seen Rumple revert so much before–that and him trying to kill Henry in 2×22 made me lose a lot of respect for him on the whole.
The main part I did not care for was the flashback scenes with Rumple and Bae–it self like the show was going a bit heavy on the sympathy for Rumple (not as much as they did in season 2 for Regina thankfully). I wasn’t crazy about seeing illusion Belle again–I know she is not real and I knew all along where the illusion was coming from.
The present scenes were more enjoyable–I liked seeing Neal and Bae working together. The scenes where Neal killed the squid was kinda funny in a macabre sense.
A nice episode, but other than the present scenes, it felt like leftovers of other Rumple episodes.
December 27, 2013 at 6:10 pm in reply to: 3×03 “Quite a Common Fairy” FAVORITE AND LEAST FAVORITE MOMENTS #233942elleParticipantNot my favorite episode–I’m mixed on the idea of Robin and Regina. And I’m a little tired of Regina and Rumple centric episodes.
That said, I enjoyed Tinkerbelle. I liked that they didn’t make her a jealous pixie–I was afraid of that. Instead, they made her a helpful fairy that just wanted to help Regina out.
I enjoyed seeing everyone convince Tinkerbelle to join the group, and I especially loved the part where Snow White said that she believed in her.
The main things that I loved–
1). Regina was not unbearable at all like in season 2.
2). Less Rumple. I’m liking the focus on some of the other characters.
3). Seeing more Henry and Pan bonding.
4). I enjoyed some of the snowing moments.
5). JMO and Lana Parrilla and Rose Mclver and Ginnifer Goodwin particularly shined in this episode.
December 27, 2013 at 5:44 pm in reply to: 3×02 “Lost Girl” — FAVORITE AND LEAST FAVORITE MOMENTS #233939elleParticipantThis was another strong episode for season 2, I think.
Things I loved–
1). Emma and Snow White scenes–it put me back a bit to season 1 and with their relationship. It was sorely missed, and I’m glad we finally had it.
2). Captain Swan moments–I ship them now so much. I’m really liking the development for them.
3). JMO’s acting. I think she has finally been given more material to work with and she is killing it.
4). Peter Pan–he was a lot of fun in this episode. Robbie Kay killed it as him.
Things I didn’t care for–
1). Rumbelle–sorry, but I knew Belle was not real even before future episodes, and I had a feeling that it was due to Pan. And nothing new came from this scene–it was just Belle repeating herself again and again about how he is a good person and how she believes in him.
December 27, 2013 at 5:35 pm in reply to: 3×01 “The Heart of the Truest Believer” — FAVORITE AND LEAST FAVORITE MOMENTS #233938elleParticipantI felt that this was a strong opening episode for season 3.
Scenes that I loved–
1). I loved the way Emma talked to her parents–I know it hurt them, but it was necessary. She was right–she is an adult with her own experiences an own knowledge that they have not taken into consideration at times, though I get that it is also hard for them, since they are the parents in this and they cannot help but think they need to still keep teaching her and leading her as though she were inexperienced.
2). Regina was finally tolerable. Season 2 she was wishy washy (as well as her actions being white-washed) we finally don’t get a whiney Regina, though her disbelief over how she did not ruin Snow White’s life annoyed me.
3). I loved the Hook and Emma scenes–I’ve been liking them more and more lately as a ship, and (judging from the later episodes) it seems like the show intends for them to be together.
4). Emma taking charge–finally, finally do we get more Emma time in this show, and she was awesome at it.
5). Henry and Peter Pan–loved their moments, together. I feel like the actors played well off each other.
6). Emma giving birth scene–just loved it. So heartbreaking and just so well-done. I feel like JMO doesn’t get enough credit for her work on the show. I hope we get more past Emma scenes.
Scenes that I didn’t care for–
1). I honestly didn’t care much for Neal as much as a I used to. He’s sort of “meh” for me now.
2). The way Greg died was horrible. I mean he went through so much suffering–he lost his mom, and he saw his father dragged away thanks to Regina. He tries to find his father, only to find out he had died, and then later on find out that everything he had worked for had been a lie. I didn’t;t like him much (and his character did suck out the life out of the show) but I felt that he did not deserve that kind of end.
3). Tamara’s character was wasted–seriously, I was hoping we would get more of her in this series, but instead the writers just quickly get rid of her. And the way Rumple killed her was just disturbing.
elleParticipantSadly Belle herself has been treated like a plot-device since day one. Even in Skin deep, as awesome as that episode is, was more focused on Rumpelstiltskin and his pain. It was meant to be his episode. Not really hers. Then Dreamy, she gets a scene and we finally get to see a bit of her side of the story, but she it is only for a moment.
Season 2 starts, and we get some good moments with Belle and we finally see her a bit more and see her get angry at Rumpelstiltskin, and yet still be determined to save him. Same thing for The Crocodile, where she gets to put her foot down and demand that Rumpelstiltkin be honest with her or else she is walking. And it was great to see her tell her father off also.
And then we FINALLY get a Belle centric episode and it is great but that is it. Her personality is erased. And she is cooped up in the hospital until Regina pops up and tries to bring in a new personality (Lacey) because she is spiteful and has no life and Belle is an easy target.
Most of this season has been either Belle as the convenient plot-device, or Belle the victim. That is why I’m great with her staying behind–she can actually get a chance to be on her own (similar to The Outsider episode) and talk with the other townspeople and stand on her own.
May 15, 2013 at 5:01 am in reply to: STRAIGHT ON TIL MORNING / FAVORITE & LEAST FAVORITE MOMENTS #194512elleParticipantThey were going to leave Rumple and Belle to die, they were going to leave Gepetto and Pinocchio to die, they were going to leave Jefferson and Grace to die, they were going to leave Cinderella, Thomas and baby Alexandra to die, they were going to leave Abigail and Frederick to die, they were going to leave Dr Whale to die, they were going to leave Anton to die as well as the rest of the town. Red wasn’t in the diner so they were going to leave Red to die. All the people they had interacted with, either in Storybrooke or in FTL, they were going to leave to die.
Seriously, Regina “the evil queen” Mills comes out looking better in this episode than all the “heroes”.
I think it can be assumed that they weren’t going to be left behind. Most of those characters haven’t been seen in a long time because the actors are busy–a lot of them have signed on for new TV shows. I highly doubt they were actually going to be left behind.
And as for Belle and Rumpelstiltskin, the guy himself was already ready to pay the price, despite the fact that others were going to be forced to pay it as well, and Lacey was content to stay with him. And so was Belle when she got her memories back. It is not Snow White or Prince Charming’s fault if either one of them didn’t want to leave.
I don’t really mind Belle being left behind. She is not exactly a core character, and it will be good to see her get a few scenes on her own without being a bit of a plot-device for Rumpelstiltskin, which she has been for both season 1 and 2 so far. Obviously the show won’t focus on her 100%, and it shouldn’t. But it will be great to see her on her own or interacting more with the other characters.
I was a bit proud of Regina–we FINALLY get to see and hear her acknowledge that she has messed up. A lot. And she FINALLY decides to take some responsibility for her actions. And I really hope the writers don’t make either her or Rumpelstiltskin go back and forth between doing the right thing and doing something wrong. It has already lost its appeal.
The development for Captain Hook was great–his character has grown on me a bit, and it was great to see his relationship with Bae and how much he had cared for the boy, though the way he turned him over was horrible. Still, I did feel for him a bit.
But poor Bae. People just seem to keep leaving him behind and traumatizing him–his mother, his father, the shadow, and now Captain Hook.
And Emma!! She was awesome. I loved seeing her wrestle with helping Regina out and saving the town and saving Henry and making sure he does not grow up alone. I loved seeing that conflict in her–she wanted to take the easy way out not just for her, but for Henry. She doesn’t want him to grow up alone and without anyone. And when she thought she was going to die, she had to calm for her parents, to feel them hug her one last time. That scene was one of my favorites.
May 15, 2013 at 4:35 am in reply to: Second Star to the Right / FAVORITE & LEAST FAVORITE MOMENTS #194503elleParticipantI liked this episode, but for different reasons.
1). The Regina torture scene–to be honest, I didn’t really care all that much. I’m not saying she deserved that or anything, but I didn’t feel all that sorry for her, either. And I may not like Greg anymore than Regina, but I still kinda felt for him–he had befriended and trusted Regina when he was younger, and it was repaid with her not only trying to kidnap him, but then lying and saying that Kurt never went back for him, and then later on admitted that she killed him and buried him. I hate that him for being willing to kill innocent people–that does not make him any better for Regina–but at the same time, I felt for him a bit when he learned what Regina did to his father.
2). Rumpelstiltskin and Lacey–I don’t like either of these two in this episode. I’ve been mixed on the whole with Lacey. I’ve thought from the beginning that she was a plot-device (and from what happened in the finale, it was proven) and haven’t really been all that interested in her. But Rumpelstiltskin was even worse–I hated how he was just going along with Lacey because he wanted to be with her, and then he later on treats Bae horribly. Anyway, they weren’t really interesting in this episode, or sympathetic.
3). Emma and Neal scenes–I’m a bit mixed with it to be honest. I had been pretty big on Neal and Emma for a while before, but now…I don’t know, I fell out of it. Mostly because I think Neal treats her badly. He didn’t bother to tell Henry off from giving Emma the cold-shoulder and then treating her in a nasty manner, he seemed to laugh it off on how Emma was handling her pain in Manhattan (I can understand this sort of defense mechanism, but still), and he seemed to enjoy seeing Emma uncomfortable about him being engaged. So with their scenes together, I wasn’t as convinced that it was touching as some people might be. The scenes where they confess their love was touching, but I just didn’t get any romantic vibes from them.
4). I loved seeing the Bae’s story, though. The CGI wasn’t as bad as it normally is. It was acceptable enough that I could watch it and not mind it so much. And it was touching to see how close Bae got with the Darling Family and how he came to care for them, going so far as to sacrifice his life for them.
5). And then the shadow!! 😯 That was an awesome surprise. I had been expecting some sort of Disney-like version of Peter Pan and the shadow, not some creepy shadow that kidnaps boys and keeps them prisoner. That was one of the best surprises this show had given.
Overall, it was a good episode. Not a favorite, but one that I enjoyed, and one that I will be watching a lot of.
elleParticipantI ended up liking this episode a bit more than I had thought I would. That said, I still cannont get into it since it was mostly meant to give Regina sympathy, and I am personally tired of the show doing that.
Some of the good stuff was the Fairytale Land side, but at the same time it got hindered by Regina slaughtering a whole village of innocent people (men, woman, and children) and then questioning why they don’t live her, while claiming that they would eventually learn in time and ugh…seriously, she was just annoying.
The scenes with her and Snow White were touching–both Giniifer Goodwin and Lana Parrilla are wonderful on their own, but together they shine. It was great to see Snow White as a bandit, yet caring for Regina and still thinking of her fondly, even after all she had done to her.
The scene where Snow White takes it all back after she sees the murdered villagers was understandable–I totally get it, and am not surprised that she did that, and I don’t think she gets quite enough credit for not killing Regina in that scene when she could have.
It is sad since both woman (in the scene) still had some love and caring towards each other, and a lot good moments could have come…but alas.
The final scene where Regina become all evil in Fairytale Land was just dumb. I understand how she comes to that conclusion, and why, but still. She seems to think only of herself and how she is the victim and all.
The slight rumbelle moments in this episode were sweet, and it was great to see them again.
The Storybrooke side was also good, but still not as good with Regina being whiney and going on about how she can be the hero if she kills everyone in the town. I like Lana Parrilla, but the character has just gone really downhill. She no longer is a threat or very sympathetic. She just is annoying.
Still, Captain Hook coming back did give the episode some humor that it needed, and we got to see a bit more of his character when he talks about how empty he will be after his revenge. Also, his scene with Maleficent was really cool. Normally the CGI is either okay or bad, with the occasional good. I felt that this was one of the few episodes where it was good. Something about the design of Maleficent was pretty cool.
I really loved the Emma and Henry scenes–it gave the episode a nostalgic feeling back with season 1 that was really needed.
Overall, it was good. Not a favorite. But good.
elleParticipantOkay, this episode is a bit mixed for me.
I really loved the Fairytale side–I am a bit sick of the love stories in this series. I wish that Robin Hood was doing something a bit different–like giving money to the poor and stealing from the rich. I know that sounds cliche and all, but there was more to the story of Robin Hood than romance, and I think OUaT has enough couples already.
But other than that, I really loved the scenes with Belle and Rumpelstiltskin and I thought it very in-character for them to have gone through this. It made a lot of sense that at first Rumpelstitlskin would be all unfriendly with her and that Belle would be wary. It was great to see them slowly fall in love, though I wish the episode had focused more on the relationship and had gotten rid of Robin Hood entirely–he didn’t really make a big impression.
Regina got on my nerves again–acting all woe is me once again and snapping at Emma for not talking to her about Neal and all. Glad that Emma called her out on the fact that Regina tried to kill them–not many of the characters seem to do that anymore.
I kinda wish we got more Prince Charming and Rumpelstitlskin bonding–I know they don’t quite get along, but it would have been great to see more of them like we did in The Crocodile.
Other than that, it was okay. The Fairytale side was great. The Storybrooke not so much–I’m also a bit mixed on Lacey. I get that she is the complete opposite, and they that was written was great, but also…I don’t know. It just kinda shows Rumpelstiltskin reverting back, and I didn’t really feel much on that scene.
