Regina would never have left anything open–she is smart to know to cover her tracks well. She probably got to Belle after the events of Dreamy. Either she took Belle after that episode, or she convinced her father to give her custody–I don’t think her father is a cruel man, but he could easily be tricked. Regina could have told him that Rumpelstiltskin tainted Belle’s mind and that she needed to be treated. Then maybe tell her father and the whole kingdom that the treatment went bad and Belle killed herself out of grief.
[adrotate group="5"]elleParticipantIt could be possibly that Prince Charming went to his mother to hide her sometime after he left the castle. It wouldn’t surprise me–he obviously loved her enough for the threat to have been taken seriously, and from what we have seen of his character (brave, loyal, and loving to those around him) I can’t picture him leaving her to die.
elleParticipantI don’t think the conversation Prince Charming had with Rumpelstiltskin warmed the former up to the latter as much as many would like–Rumpelstiltskin had still stolen his ring and forced him to fight a dragon in return for what was rightfully his in the beginning. And before that, he caused problems for both Snow White and Prince Charming.
But I think the conversation in A Land Without Magic did still help Prince Charming (for a moment) to feel a bit of understanding–they both had something in common: True Love. Both lost it at one point in their lives. For a moment, Prince Charming served as a confident to Rumpelstiltskin, who seemed almost a bit relieved to talk (to an extent) about Belle.
Nevertheless, I think his deal with Cinderella was one of the last straws for Prince Charming. The latter could not condone that, and who can really blame him?
elleParticipantAs much as I loved (and still love) Graham as a character and seeing his back story, it is best to let him stay dead. Twice it is has been told that the dead cannot come back to life–once Rumpelstitlskin, and then Maleficent. Both stated that no spell can bring the dead back, so it seems unlikely that magic coming to Storybrooke would change anything, no matter how poweful. Plus, his death did have an effect on Emma–it did help her to rise up for the position that he once had. And it may continue to do so if or when she finds out that Regina was the one to kill him.
His role as the Huntsman is still important–I’m curious to see what role he continued to play in his service to the Queen. Season 2 will show Snow and Charming trying to take back the kingdom–will he be able to help, or hurt the two of them under orders?
elleParticipantI also don’t think Maurice would hurt her–at least intentionally. He seemed quite unwilling to let Rumpelstiltskin take Belle–he ordered Rumpelstiltskin out of his castle, and then later begged Belle not to go with him. He seemed very saddened by the deal. From the way they talked to each other, they seemed very loving and close. It would seem out of character for him to suddenly shun her and treat her with cruel behavior.
1). Belle never made it back to the castle. No doubt she may have slowed down to travel, but I think she would have eventually returned to her father to ease his worry after she was done with her journey. But on her way back to her father’s, or during her time seeing the world, she was captured by the Queen and imprisoned.
2). Belle never got captured, and was simply locked away as part of her unhappy ending. This could also be a possibility, though doubtful. The Queen would probably want to capture Belle quickly, just in case Rumpelstiltskin decided to investigate the story. But she may have by then known that Rumpelstiltskin was working on the curse, so she may not have been in any hurry.
3). The Queen may have convinced Maurice to give her Belle. It is not hard to picture the Queen coming to Maurice and spinning a wild tale about Belle being corrupted, and the the Queen was the only one who could help her. And I could see Maurice believing the Queen–she is very good at tricking people, and manipulation.
elleParticipantI don’t see Rumpelstiltskin giving people power–he wants to be the one on top, unless he was able to predict how Cora would have Regina, who would become a very useful tool. But then how would he have given her power? With gaining power in this show, it seems that killing someone is the only route to take. He may have told Cora about a powerful wizard or wielder of magic, and told her how to kill them.
elleParticipantEven that deal she made with Gepetto never truly bothered me. I think she felt a bit of sympathy for him–he lost his parents, and he only had his son and Jiminy left in the world. He wanted to do all he could to keep them all safe, and she knew him well enough it seemed. I doubt she would have done the deal with anyone else. And maybe Gepetto was one of the only people–he used the same wood to make Pinocchio. Perhaps it must be handled in a special way–it is never fully stated, so this is just a guess.
The writers haven’t done a horrible job–but there is a lot that is needed to explain. Why (for example) didn’t she go with Bae to explain to Rumpelstiltskin about the bean and make sure he went in through the portal? Or why didn’t she ever help Regina during her years of misery?
elleParticipantI never really saw the Blue Fairy as something evil. I see her more as someone with limits. She is powerful, but her power is limited. She only uses magic for situations that are needed. and in then only when the price is not too high. Her situation with Rumpelstiltskin was not entirely her fault–he is more to blame than her for what happend to Bae. With Dreamy and Nova, she only told what was known to both Fairies and Dwarfs. I don’t agree with her, but it is noted that her intentions were good and were for Nova. As for her and Gepetto, she did not truly know what would happen to Pinocchio–she could only help so far.
elleParticipantRegina should never be underestimated. It is highly doubtful that she will still work with Rumpelstiltskin in the next season. He planted evidence on Regina for Kathryn’s kidnapping and he was going to leave town and let Regina suffer the wrath of the town when the curse was beginning to break. The last episode showed how much her distrust of him had grown since the earlier episodes.
And keep in mind, Regina has her own trump card: Rumpelstiltskin made the curse, not her. If she tells everyone who the maker is, they will be out for him as well. Granted, Rumpelstitlskin is very powerful, but he was held in the cell before–it could be done again if done right.
Even if the magic was made from True Love, Regina will still gain her powers back. She had obtained them before, she will do so again.
elleParticipantGiving Regina power would still prove unwise of Mr. Gold. First off, she still is competition. Granted, she has never been as powerful as Rumpelstiltskin, but after all that has happened this season (after all that Rumpelstiltskin has done to ruin Regina) she is not going to be happy, especially with how Henry got involved. And I highly doubt that she is entirely alone–she did have a small group of people with her when she first wanted to enact the curse. I would not be surprise if she gathered them again. There is also the fact that, since now Rumpelstiltskin knows what truly happened to Belle (minus how she got captured, how long she has been in the custody of the Evil Queen, and what was done to her) he is seriously going to relish her in misery, and leaving her powerless and in the mercy of the whole town would be to his standard.
It could be that automatically everyone gets magic back–that seems to be the most sure thing. A popular theory is that Regina won’t because she does not have love, but given all that she did for Henry, that does not seem to be the case. Also, Regina had her powers before she had Henry, and she used them to the fullest.
