OUAT is a show that explores the darkest part of each character, the part that committed heinous crimes. Can such a person love again and be loved in return?
Each character, like Rumple, Regina, Cora, Snow, have intentionally harmed another or a village. Yes, we all know that.
What the writers are conveying to its audience, is that love is the only power that can transform the darkness inside their hearts. LOVE.
Love is positive and available to everyone. NO ONE IS EXCLUDED.
IT IS NOT ‘GOOD PEOPLE’ ONLY RG.
I enjoy reading your insights and thoughts regarding OUAT. But not this time.
I was voicing my thoughts and my take on this show that resonates with me.
Pain, childhood horror, abuse, could have led me on another destructive path. I chose LOVE, UNDERSTANDING, FORGIVENESS and most important, exploring my own fears and my darkest places so that I could understand emotional turmoil and feel empowered to forgive.
RG, I wish you peace and joy in your life.

enchantedfanParticipantI believe the message in OUAT is a positive one because at the core of love in OUAT is overcoming fears that is specific for each of the characters.
There are lines in a song from an American Chrisitian hardcore band ‘As Cities Burn‘ (I looked up the origin of these inspirational quotes)
“….I loved you at your darkest…”
How relatable are these insightful words for: ” Belle to Rumple, Neal to Emma (that hug) Regina to Cora, Henry to Regina …..
and from the same song…….
“Love, what is love without trust?”
Each of the characters in OUAT are dealing with their innermost fears and trust issues. The writers set up the dramas that explores those fears. Seeing the flaws and not fearing those flaws opens their heart to love that person despite those flaws….to love them even at their darkest.
As their fears faded, their love strengthened, opening their heart to forgiveness, to redemption for their beloved and for themselves.
THAT IS TRUE LOVE.
I would like to share another quote that exemplifies the positive themes of love in OUAT:
“Not until we are lost …….do we begin to find ourselves.” Henry David Thoreau
Emma, Nealfire, Rumple, Regina, Robin, lost souls, yet, the writers have us share their journey of finding themselves……..through unconditional love.
So yes, ‘good always wins’ for love is good, love is forgiving, love is NOT BLIND because love is courage, love overcomes fears.

enchantedfanParticipantHello SWANFIRE fans 🙂
It has been a very intense summer for my family and myself but an intensity that brought me a deeper understanding, respect and appreciation of the importance of relationships, in particular my relationship with my Mom 🙂
OUAT writers interweave outrageous dialogue with profound truths about the layers of love, being clear regarding loyalty, family unity, trust, and the courage to seek within, to heal wounds of the heart Quite an accomplishment from the writers and a conduit that enables me to relate OUAT (or any art form) in my life and especially this past summer.
And then, in the corner of my heart, that still beats, quietly and steadfast, for the enigmatic Nealfire. (Thanks to MJR brilliant interpretation of adult Baelfire)
Baelfire…..this name evokes mystery, intrigue and presence. A character so rich in potential and inspiring story telling.
There is this lovely Chinese proverb I came across about destined lovers and this describes SWANFIRE so beautifully:
‘An invisible red thread connects those who are destined to meet, regardless of time, place, and circumstance. The thread may stretch or tangle. But it will never break.’
When I came across this proverb, I remembered Emma was wearing a red scarf when she tackled Nealfire in the episode Tallahassee. There are many enchanted ‘threads’ that connect Swanfire and we’ve covered them all in these posts.
It seemed AE had an AHA moment in Season 3. Trying to read between the lines in their transcript interviews, it seemed AE felt ‘Neal Cassidy’ was done.
Such gifted storytellers could not figure out how to explore the enigmatic Neal Cassidy!? Or maybe they have!
I am still skeptical and suspicious of how AE escalated CS romance. It seemed too forced, too easy and too expected! Hmmmmmmm!
Why do I get the feeling we are being thrown off track, off the scent!
AE are storytellers, cleverly looping and interleaving folklore and symbols in OUAT that kept me enthralled, exasperated and returning week after week.
And so, I am looking forward how Season 4 will unfold and the introduction of Will Scarlet and Elsa.
I am also hypothesizing (and hoping, ) that Baelfire/Neal is alive and the writers will allude to this throughout season 4. Perhaps set in motion, a segue into season 5 and the reunion of SWANFIRE

enchantedfanParticipantComing out from my tent of H.O.P.E to read the zany predictions for the outcome of season 3 finale. All I can say is most of you are more creative than the OUAT writers. They should be very afraid of you. A & E might just replace their writers 🙂
I also found myself, from reading some of the comments in regards to CS kiss, it is supposed to mean it was TL. Now, who in their right mind would call giving CPR a TL kiss, unless you are 20 or 30 maybe 40 something and thinking like a teenager!
“Love is true when it comes from the heart and not from the mouth.” Anon.
The CS shippers, IMO, are seeing a romance where there is none. Hook is what they called in the golden days of movies, a sidekick, a comic foil, hardly someone a heroine would see in a romantic light. That is so evident since that ‘Neverland’ kiss, a ploy by the writers to whet the fantasies of the adult female viewers with a teenagers mind. Do I sound harsh? Perhaps. OUAT is an adult fairy tale for sure. There is a need for comic relief now and then. I like how Hook is evolving, he is struggling with his destiny too. Only it’s not with Emma in a romantic way, but good friends, yes.

enchantedfanParticipantIf this has already been discussed, my apologies, but could SB second half of S3 be the alternate universe? And Emma will set it right?

enchantedfanParticipantI am quite cozy in my tent of H.O.P.E. I wavered for a second, was beginning to doubt my instinct about A & E’s tendency to mislead the fans, (actually ‘hoodwink’ is a more fitting word). They’ve got to keep the interest in OUAT alive…..just look at how the forums are flourishing, how the fans generate heated debates about the beloved characters, their angst, relationships, secrets dealings, plot developments….it’s crazy wonderful 🙂 I’ve said it before, and I don’t mind if I appear naive…..perhaps ‘enchanted’ by the magical world created by A & E. They created SWANFIRE, I fell under the SF love spell. A & E would not destroy the heartbeat of their creation. That heartbeat is SWANFIRE.

enchantedfanParticipantRewatched the latest sneak, then played it again with my eyes closed just listening…..I thought I was listening to Snow White! Those words that Regina spoke, especially when Regina stopped Rumple from obliterating Zelena, are the sentiments and idealism of Snow. :-/

enchantedfanParticipantJust wanted to say hello to everyone, and as always, I really enjoy all the posts on this ‘sanctuary’ thread. My faith that Bae/Neal will return is still unshaken. Swanfire prevails 🙂

enchantedfanParticipantWOW…….first thing I thought was; is this a dream? Then I thought maybe Emma put her heart in Regina to fool Zelena. Will have to wait for Sunday’s episode.

enchantedfanParticipantThe exchange between Gold and Emma from 215 gave rise to the hope, for me, that Emma and Neal would get their second chance:
“Mr. Gold: You want a second chance with that man.
Emma: What makes you think that?
Mr. Gold: The look on your face.”
The Ouat writers have written second chances for their FT characters in most of their stories….most recent is Regina with Henry and second chance at love with Robin Hood. If Regina is given a second chance, well then, my bet is on Emma getting her second chance with Baelfire Cassidy. Episode 319 provided pointers in that direction. The path to true love is never easy for Emma, she has to get out of her own way. The writers are really challenging the Swanfire fans faith in giving them their second chance ……it’s taking too long!
