I just remembered something. Remember how there was a deleted scene from I think it was either Hat Trick or The stranger with August and Jefferson and they never released it, even on the DVD. Put that together with the Cleaners & Hatters sign in Neal’s room and maybe you have some sort of information network? I’m just saying. I mean we are going on and on about how it might be the BF pulling the strings, but we keep frogetting that Jefferson remembered everything. Maybe he always knew more then it was letting on; i mean he did work closely with both Rumple and Regina.
I wanted to slap them for not having that deleted scene on the dvd! 😈 Though Jefferson remembered, I wonder if he was really in a position in SB to do anything with his knowledge? He wouldn’t have been aware of Pinocchio’s part in the story, so couldn’t have sought out August in our world, it’d have to have been the other way around. But how would August know that Jefferson was someone in SB with his memories intact? If they did have dealings, I’m still gonna guess that it was Blue who put them in contact with each other.
There’s gotta be some reason they had a dirty great big sign in Neal’s apartment that screamed, “HATTERS”. Perhaps the connection is simply that both he and Jefferson knew the truth, but didn’t necessarily know each other. But there’s always the possibility that there could be a deeper connection.

Neal is from our world. The typewriter was loaded with paper that had a recent dialog that involved Neal.
It makes no sense for August to ask Neal, “Do you believe in magic?” if at that time he knew Neal to be Bealfire or some other FTL character.
Neal was evasive with his answer though, “I take it you do.” I think that August was trying to suss out how easy Neal was gonna be to deal with, and Neal was trying to suss out who this guy was before he admitted whether or not he believed in magic.
I do like the idea that the typewriter perhaps had a recent dialogue involving Neal in it. Only glitch with that is that he could write it off as August having spied on him. However, if it was REALLY recent, like, describing how August had chased him down, and had that conversation that they’d just had moments before on it, THAT would be convincing, because there’s no way that August could have been typing it as it was actually happening. Maybe the last lines on the page were, “August walked over to his bike, and lifted the lid on the box, revealing a typewriter.”
This is kind of reminding me of The Neverending Story, (which I rewatched just last week, so it’s fresh in my mind), the part at the end where Bastian is reading the book and Childlike Empress is speaking to him through it…
Childlike Empress: He doesn’t realize that he’s already a part of the Neverending Story.
Atreyu: The Neverending Story, what’s that?
Childlike Empress: Just as he is sharing all your adventures, others are sharing his. They were with him when he hid from the boys in the bookstore.
Bastian: But that’s impossible!
Childlike Empress: They were with him when he took the book with the Auryn symbol on the cover, in which he’s reading his own story right now.
And then they essentially end up having a direct conversation when she’s begging him to call out the new name he’s chosen for her and he’s saying that he can’t, but ultimately does.
Childlike Empress: Bastian, why don’t you do what you dream, Bastian?
Bastian: But I can’t! I have to keep my feet on the ground!
Childlike Empress: Call my name! Bastian, please! Save us!
Bastian: All right, I’ll do it. I’ll save you. I will do what I dream!
The story was being written in real time, which could have been happening with August’s typewriter, which would have been pretty convincing for Neal, even if he was just some real world guy who had a passing belief and hope that magic was real.
Of course, that also could have convinced him that August had access to magical things, people and knowledge, even if Neal was someone from FTL himself, so it doesn’t necessarily prove which world he comes from, but I now have a new pet theory as to what’s going on in that box.
Edited to add that if that is what the typewriter was doing, perhaps that’s why August so readily opened the box for Emma, hoping that the same thing would happen for her? I know there wasn’t any paper in it when Emma saw it, but we also know she didn’t see his leg turning to wood, so perhaps you can only see what’s being written by the real time typewriter if you’re open to believing.
I really like the theory of the Neverending Story…I like it alot.

Nice work! Also I think Neal is possibly Peter Pan based on what was pointed out on the latest podcast the wanted poster stating that he has a knife wound on his left arm. Well in the “Hook” film Peter Pan gets slashed on his left arm by Captain Hook.
Yes…I agree…lots of Peter Pan clues.

The noses don’t quite look the same to me…maybe it’s just the angle of the pic. But that is interesting to think about.
You are right about the angle of the picture. The picture on the wall has the face angled a little more which makes the nose look a little narrower. .

Oh gosh you have a great eye! Awesome to notice all that–it looks like the writers are basically screaming that Neal really is Baelfire! 🙂
It was so funny because I was looking at the key chains, trying to figure out the names and I was like…oh my…that face looks FAMILIAR! How funny that it was hidden in plain sight.

Red Hand on the wall is from Wheel of Time…Band of the Red Hand. More proof of Bae=Neal Cassady. 8:15 on Postcard Clocktower is the same as Peter Pan, Wendy, John, and Michael on Big Ben right before they flew off to Neverland…IE, the beginning of Disney’s Peter Pan. White Dove delivering the postcard is representative of Barrie’s first mention of Peter Pan.
LOVE the 8:15 information!!!
