Those results could also reflect the fact that Hook has been several episodes, while Neal has only been 1 (aside from his 60 second appearance in “Broken”). The more screentime a character gets, the more results he’s bound to get.
Exactly. I’d hardly call them completely objective. And a lot of it could have been because Hook was a beloved fairy tail character in his own right and that’s why they made such a big hype about it. Plus the words you used could have brought up results for other things. Say an article from when they first announced him wondering how Emma would react to seeing a big pirate ship in Storybrooke harbor. Neal’s bound to have less publicity at this point and that doesn’t necessarily mean that there are less SwanTheif shippers out there (it doesn’t mean that their is either).
But for all the Neal haters out there–the ones that say he has not chemistry with Emma or that he’s not good looking enough for her– all I ask is that everyone waits until the story unfolds more to decide if that ship is ruiening the show. I would do that same if it looked like they were going to make Captain Swan endgame.
Okay, that’s the last thing I’ll say about it. Now, back to Manhattan. One good thing does come out of this. It’s great to know people can leave Storybrooke. That, will continue to make things ever more interesting.
I hope that it’s only temporary or that Gold had to jump through A LOT of hoops to get through the barrier. I think if everyone can get out whenever they want, I’d be kind of afraid that a lot of people will want to scatter and I like the idea of Storybrooke being kind of isolated.
[adrotate group="5"]faux paxParticipantLooks. Story. Potential. Drama. Personality. Depth. That’s a good formula. Maybe we haven’t seen enough of Neal yet, but so far I’m going to be disappointed if Emma ends up with him. There’s just not enough there to keep me wanting more.
Honestly, I think we’ve seen more potential for depth in Nealfire then we’ve seen in Hook. In simple terms Hook seems to be a womaniser who is dead set on revenge for the death of the one woman he’s ever loved and will do everything he can to get that. The only way i see that ending is with either him or Rumple dead (and we all know which one is more likely).
Nealfire on the other had has a lot of development ahead of him. His relationship with Emma, His relationship with Gold and Belle, his new role as a father and his place as an outsider in Storybrooke, dealing with all the things Gold has done to get to this world including killing Millah.
faux paxParticipantMaybe that means that if he learns magic, he could be the one to restore FTL. Just a thought and I always did hope he had a bigger role then just as guide to the savior. After all isn’t “tired of reading about heroes?” Sounds to me like they’re setting him up to be a hero in his own right…once he grows up a bit
faux paxParticipantIf it came to the point of saving Emma’s life, and call me nieve, but I think Hook would choose to save Emma. Here’s why: He too, has an ability to love sacrificially.
But at the cost of his vengeance against Rumple? Really? I don’t see that happening. Would he be torn? Possibly, but I don’t see him making that choice. I agree with you about the fact that his character could grow. I’m just saying that out of what little we’ve seen of Neal and Hook, I think Neal’s better suited for her and every one’s entitled to their opinions.
Henry may also actively work to split Emma and Hook up and push his father and Emma together.
If they actually do more then just tease the Captain Swan relationship I so want to see that. I could so see Henry asking Hook “what are your intentions towards my mother,” and letting Neal off the hook (no pun intended) with the same thing.
That’s another reason I don’t think Captain Swan could be Endgame. Hook’s a bad guy and Henry’s obsessed with heroes. I don’t think Henry would approve of Hook unless he did a complete 160 (and would people like him as much if he did?) and Emma wouldn’t be with someone Henry couldn’t stand.
faux paxParticipantknow a lot of people want to see Emma and Captain Hook get together. I get that. Jennifer’s hot. Collin’s hot. And a lot of fans want them to have hot monkey sex together so they can live vicariously through the characters. I get that too.
Sure they may play this dynamic up for a while and I’m fine with that, but I can’t see Captain Swan being endgame and it’s mostly for one reason: Hook is too caught up in his revenge against Rumple.
Let’s not fight over whether or not Millah was his true love or if she deserved to die; my personal views on that are for another post (my answers are yes and no, respectively). But whatever you think, the truth is that her death is still driving him. Getting revenge on Rumple is the most important thing in his mind.
With the kind of closed off person Emma has become, she needs to come first in a relationship. I’m not trying to make her to be needy or diva-ish. It’s just that for too long she hasn’t come first to anyone—at least as far as she could tell. She’s just now beginning to see that her parents giving her up wasn’t just for the good of everyone…they were thinking about her too, and as far as she knows Neal sold her out so he could keep the money himself.
Think about it: if it ever came down to Hook having to decide between killing Rumple and, say, saving Emma’s life, what do you think he would choose? And please, be honest. Right now it would be killing Rumple. Hands down (now I’m not saying this couldn’t change with a bit of character development—it’s just not that way now).
Full disclosure here: I consider myself the queen of the SwanThief ship, but I’m trying not to be biased with this.
The reason it think this her best shot is because Neal was the only one of them (that’s still alive) to put Emma first. Yes I did actually see the entire episode, thank you very much, I do know he sold her out. But let’s look at what happened before that.
In the scene in the motel room when he’s talking about settling down, you can hear how much he wants it—how scared he is to open himself enough to her for her to say no. As they plan more and more about Tallahassee and exchange the “L” words, you can see that this is what he wants more than anything… this is his one shot at happiness.
But later when Emma is suggesting running away with him to Canada he immediately shoots her down. Why? BECAUSE IT WOULD PUT HER IN DANGER. As much as he wanted Tallahassee, he wanted her safe more. He was going to give up his dreams for her safety.
When he turned her in, it killed him to do it. Whatever he saw in that box to convince him that it was best, whatever made him believe, didn’t change the fact that he still tried to do right by her. Even though she had to go to prison, he was still left her the car and the cash. He could have kept it, but he was thinking about her above himself.
faux paxParticipantThanks!
faux paxParticipantWhat I see neither is Bae having magic like Emma – how so? Doubt he was a child of true love.
But what about Henry? If Neal is Bae and if he is Emma’s true love, then couldn’t that mean he has his own kind of magic? And if we consider the fact that Emma is the end of the curse, but Bae was the beginning, then it could have interesting implications for just what kind of magic he has.
faux paxParticipantI wonder if he was silent for the whole trip, dozing off, or blurting out directions. Google says it’s a 7 hour and 22 minute drive from Maine to Manhattan. The fact that everyone made it to NYC alive is magic in itself, I think.
Now I definitely want a roadtrip scene of Gold-Emma-Henry in that car. I really, really hope they don’t leave that out entirely.
I’d be more concerned about the ride back. Emma’s pissed at Neal. Neal’s still in shock after finding out about Henry (he’s not stupid and can count backwards) and pissed at Gold. Gold’s already trying to bridge the gap and doesn’t understand why Neal’s not pissed that Emma broke his nose (come on you know it will happen) and above all, Henry’s completely out of the loop because neither he nor Gold know about Emma and Neal’s past.
I hope the big reveal happens in the car. I can so see everyone talking at once and Emma’s like “I will stop this car and put you ALL out…”
faux paxParticipantI have to agree Nonnie. Here’s a tumblar post about why I think SwanThief is a better relationship for Emma then Captain Swan.
faux paxParticipantIs it just me or does it fit in nicely with Tallahassee? Tallahassee was about the life they wanted and Manhattan will be about the life they actually got. Both very different.
