ParticipantOh noes! Do I detect a Bellarke shipper…?
Oh noes! No comment (but yes, in the most minor way possible.) (at least until this season when I became incredibly frustrated with him though I do think they’ll go that route eventually) (now I’m mostly just like, “plz stop hurting Raven! She is tiny and deserves only good thingsl!”)
Oh my Raven :,(
The thing I’m wondering is: why Dorothy? She could have been used again in some other capacity. If they wanted to do something better they should have had Red and her same-sex lover start off already together, and have Ruby looking for her in the underworld whilst slowly telling the backstory (and maybe save Mulan for another episode), or have her be a werewolf too, so that their instantaneous bonding was more believable.
It would have been more interesting to make Ruby’s lover an anti-hero in the beginning imo, and make her interactions with Ruby be more complicated and flirtatious. Like, for example: Ruby and Mulan have to rid a town of a thief that Ruby starts to fall for, against all of Mulan’s advice, but I suppose that would have needed more than half of one episode to pull off >:I

ParticipantThis is the first time I’ve been on this site for a while now, I think.
Sadly, I was just about able to get through the first episode of this season before completely forgetting about it’s existence, until I saw a promo of this episode pop up on my ‘suggested’ list on YouTube. I could see straight away that this was going to be the bone that OUAT has practically been forced to throw for their LGBT fanbase, so I decided to watch.
I’m not sure whether this site has been discussing what went on a month back with the development of the movement #LGBTfansdeservebetter, sparked up by the death of a lesbian character on a show called The 100? I’m sure some of you must have seen it. Basically it calls out TV for the abysmal representation of lesbians and bi female characters, specifically when it comes to the ‘bury your gay’/’dead lesbian syndrome’ tropes.
Now, a month on, all I can say is that I am just so damn jaded by LGBT media representation, and this episode was no exception. The lesbians may not have died at the end but I still have to call out the writers for what this episode was: a badly written, badly planned out ‘romance’ with no soul – a ‘love story’ that not even the most gullible toddler would buy. I’d laugh if I wasn’t just so fed up with it all tbh.
After all the loyalty shown to this show by lesbian and bi women this is what we get? The saddest part is that we are so desperate we will praise the writers, and this romance, for being soooo progressive… … … excuse me while I vomit.
Their kiss was alright, but everything else was a thrown-together mess with no believability or heart. The actresses had zero chemistry and WHY WAS MULAN EVEN THEIR? IS SHE EVEN GAY??? Who the hell knows?!
The 100 may have killed Lexa, but the development of the romance between her and Clarke (the main protagonist of The 100, in case anyone was wondering) was so fantastically written, and so beautifully acted by two actresses that had more chemistry between their pinky toes than the entire cast of OUAT have ever demonstrated, that I just can’t accept clumsy messes like the lesbian so-called ‘romance’ in this episode anymore.
Come find me when Zelena and Belle finally realize they’re both too good for Rumple and shack up together. Until then I’m off to be more bitter than ever whilst hanging out on AO3.

ParticipantThe combined power of all the Dark Ones? So… is he the new (old-new) villain now? Or are we getting Hades?

ParticipantHe’s her ‘one true love‘ now? Pretty sure she could do better, but whatever…

ParticipantAre they going to kill Hook off this season? It seems only logical to remove the DO powers from Hook (which would kill him, from what we saw in ep 8, or was that just if the sword was destroyed?), since he obviously just reverts back to his old evil self within like 3 seconds of discovering his new powers.
They could either put his power into Emma (super-duper Dark One), or put it into someone/something else (like the sword) and destroy it, or maybe do it some other way.

Participantbut they’ll take the credit for being “bold” and pushing an LGBT narrative
Some shows who have had better LGBT representation than OUAT include;
3 cartoons aimed at kids (Legend of Korra, Adventure Time, Steven Universe), along with one of the silliest, most outlandish, and intellectually bankrupt family shows, in what is quite possibly the entire universe -Doctor Who has a cannon married, inter-species, lesbian couple.
Edit: How could I have forgotten Glee?! The same network that owns FOX NEWS(!!!) had a show that was literally shooting gays out of a cannon at us in every episode. There were gay characters, lesbian characters, bisexual characters, and at least one trans character. It apparently even had a lesbian wedding in one of the last two seasons (which I haven’t watched yet)?
So if the writers are taking any sort of credit for anything LGBT-representation related then it better be their complete lack of it, and the fact that they are obviously ‘queer baiting’ a large portion of their fanbase!!!

ParticipantSomeone please correct me if I’m wrong, but doesn’t OUAT have a really big LGBT fanbase?
*huge*
Not just SwanQueen but in general.
And yet; no love.
