Reviews, theories, and talk about ABC's Once Upon a Time TV show
Yeah, I thought the fairies were throwing sleeping powder. It was how Snow and the Dwarfs were fighting that seemed out of character for the show (at least for the show at this point). The fairies could have given the ground troops some of their fairy dust so that none of the good guys would need blades.

With all of the motherhood threads in tonight’s episode, and with the finale next week on Mothers’ Day, I’m expecting to Cora to return.

I think a storyline with Emma in fairy tale land wouldn’t work. Even though her life began there, her point of view — along with the tensions and limitations that point of view gives her — are completely of our world. I enjoy the scenes in fairy tale land, but their role is to support the story taking place in our world. I think I wouldn’t enjoy the show nearly as much if the main action took place on the other side of the curse.

I thought the rescue mission didn’t fit with the show’s code of conduct for good guys. The rescue party murdered many enemy soldiers, soldiers who weren’t necessarily bad guys themselves. Even Snow displayed mercy only by giving a soldier a life-threatening head injury rather than by killing him outright. I would have thought that with access to the magical powers of hundreds of fairies, they could have come up with a gentler plan. At the very least, the fairies’ judgement wasn’t clouded by desire for revenge, and they would have had some input into the plan.

I thought the offer of forgiveness seemed more like revenge. MM described Regina’s pain and evil deeds in too much detail for the offer to be completely genuine. I’d say that MM is a kind character who values forgiveness and wants to take the high road but can’t resist striking back in a way that is particularly effective for her.
