Yeah, but it’s also hilarious that of all the characters ever it’s Sneaky Blue Fairy who ends up trapped in her own realm of terrible.

-1 Alice, who knows that her father is deathly allergic to her, holds him to comfort him as he lies there convulsing.
+1 for not saying the b-word.
+1 for not saying the other b-word.
-1 The dagger is the Chekhov’s Gun of this season and the entire series. We needed to see it crumble or something.
+1 for the showrunners staying true to their vision. I didn’t always agree with their choices, but it was their show to create.

GaultheriaParticipantI guess it’s a metaphor for what the show has been doing all these years, but there should’ve been a threat to all the realms to justify such a drastic action in-universe.
There’s going to be a huge problem with invasive species now that all those biomes are permanently connected. I wish that final montage had included an AT-AT or closed with a Chewbacca yowl. And Storybrooke has a red light district now that all the story realms are joined.

GaultheriaParticipantOoh, is Lily’s ethnicity a live topic again?

GaultheriaParticipant“We are both” is good advice. Each of us is much too complex to be perfectly self-consistent.

GaultheriaParticipantIt’s the way Rumpel says it that triggers my danger-sense. He talks about getting rid of the dagger, and he talks about reuniting with Belle, and he talks about getting rid of the dagger so that he can reunite with Belle, but he never mentions anything about what he expects or hopes to happen in-between those events.
Unless we’re very young, we’ve all lost people we love. Those of us who believe in or hope for an afterlife can honestly say that we yearn to be reunited with our loved ones, and I don’t fault Rumpel one bit for thinking that. I’m angry at him — at his writers, I guess I should say — for running headlong toward his own death with blinders on, as fast as he can, setting his sights on dead Belle and ignoring everyone still alive. No-one else matters to him enough for him to even wonder if they matter to him.

GaultheriaParticipantWish Belle died back in Season 6. We even saw a bag of her bones.
Ah, I forgot that part. As an exercise in soap opera logic, though, do we know that was her?
With one episode remaining — and especially when most of that episode will be sentimental tributes instead of new plot — I don’t think there’s time for a fight against Wish Rumpel.

GaultheriaParticipantWell, it could be Wish Rumpel meeting Wish Belle. That would solve last episode’s cliffhanger with a happy solution instead of a fight.
Re: original Rumpel and Belle, I’m still hoping they don’t go the reunited in death route. Sure, Rumpel deserves to earn mortality — to shanshu — but there’s nothing romantic about a Lovers’ Leap. A chance to live an uncursed life is what sounds like a true happy ending.
(Yes, as some may have guessed, I knew someone who killed herself. I didn’t know her well, but it still shook me when I found out, and it devastated her family. That’s why I think that any fiction that romanticizes suicide and fatalism is — there’s no other word for it — obscene.)

GaultheriaParticipantAt this state event, Henry is wearing the traditional formal garb of his people. On special ritual occasions, women can wear elaborate, ridiculous, ugly garish puffy lacy things — bridesmaids’ dresses, for instance — that they wouldn’t wear in regular life. Emma can wear a fancy dress there even though she probably hates it, and Lucy probably likes dressing as a princess because she’s still a little girl.
Both Henrys (Henries?) have been struggling to live up to expectations — their own, and others’ — and find their roles in life, and making really bad decisions along the way when they’re not trying to be true to themselves. I’m happy to see that adult Henry has accepted where his life as a grown-up has taken him.
