GaultheriaParticipant
Not that I think they intended it this way, but this episode works as a metaphor for postpartum depression. That makes for disturbing Sunday evening entertainment, but it’s also more like an authentic fairy tale than what we usually get on OUAT.

And Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them:
Maybe a bit of The Empire Strikes Back, too, with the elephant.
–So the knocking? It’s the Master, yes?
Whatever it is, it mostly knocked in sets of three — except for the final time, when it did four, or maybe seven (depending on where the break was). If the Master is in the vault, then there would be four knocks every time, wouldn’t there?
–What is the point of Nardole? I’m not sure what he’s supposed to be doing apart from serving as a scold to the Doctor.
He’s the beta-tester for a new android body design? The last time the Doctor saw River, he knew she’d be going to the library soon. A modified Nardole suit could be the Doctor’s plan to get River out, for the big Moffat-and-Capaldi goodbye episode.

GaultheriaParticipantRotten Tomatoes pretty much places the movie and the series at opposite ends of the spectrum, but I’m still scared to give the series a try. The movie went so far overboard with Woobieness that it became more like a self-parody than serious, thoughtful drama.

Mainly, it’s because of how that “Mary Celeste” sign in the vault in episode 1 resembles the Erehwon vault in episode 2; they seem like they might be the same kind of thing. That, and the Doctor seems to be trying too hard to act normal about the MC vault, just like he did during the ganger-Amy plot.
Taking speculation a bit more into left field — and this is silly, I know — the trailer for this season shows old old-style cybermen, from the planet Mondas, which in the old series looks like Earth (though with the land and water reversed). Maybe this season is about finding the first cyber-tomb, to destroy it or — more likely, because of fixed points in time and how important they are to the Doctor wearing this face — to reluctantly ensure that it opens..

GaultheriaParticipantHmmm… The show could still do the “recombine the two halves” plot that we expected for Regina and EQ, only instead with Blue and Black. This episode prominently featured dark crystals, after all.

GaultheriaParticipantBut if she doesn’t feel bad, why can’t Rumple ever know her secret?
In the context of that scene, I think the secret must be that Blue, not Black, is Rumpel’s mother.

After seeing “Smile”, I think Bill’s planet is a far-future copy of Earth.
What do you think is behind the door?
The colony ship Mary Celeste, sister vessel to the Erehwon.
(Though if the vault is hiding the Doctor’s missing memories, that’d also be cool.)

GaultheriaParticipantI prefer the symbolic battles. Fairy tales are morality plays; they have to be about something. Otherwise, the show’s dramatic moments are just glowy hands and intestinal gas pain scowls.

GaultheriaParticipantThey are done filming for the season, so i don’t know what you mean.
Do we know that JM had her old hairstyle in the studio during filming of the wedding scenes? A fancy hairdo at a woman’s own wedding is a Thing That Must Be Done, or so I gather. Plus, a big life event is a convenient opportunity to update a twentysomething hairstyle for middle-age.
