But those stories are so well known because we keep telling them over and over and over. With the exception of the Wizard Of Oz, most of those stories did not originate here. How many Cinderella’s can we have before someone says hey, how about something that ISN’T Cinderella, Snow White, Little Mermaid, Rapunzel, Oz, etc. Etc. If done right, I think any story could be well adapted and loved by everyone. Now I don’t think OUAT is the place to really initiate this. But someone should.

Okay, this i agree with. I think this is a great idea for a show, to mix in those lesser known stories. I would be fine with that. I just don’t think that is Ouat. I also think the writers are terrible, so why would anyone want them to at this point?

But how do you determine what people know and don’t know? And since most mythology is constructed out of basic archetypes then everyone knows the figures, if only be different names. For example: the Trickster character. You can pull in Loki who is probably very familiar to many in the audience either through myth readings or Marvel. But Loki is a trickster, same as, say, Anansi, Br’re Rabbit, the Coyote, or…Rumple to an extent. I think sticking to just stories that have been Disney-i-fied is a huge mistake. The world is full of interesting myths and legends who’s themes and constructs are universal. And don’t the writers owe it to their fans to broaden their minds to the wider world?

I am not saying that it is just disney movies that they need to do. I also agree that it is a mistake that they are going down that route. I think that for me though, what they should have done is, like i said, separate the characters from the story. It makes it seem like a really small amount when you do a thing like group all of Greek mythology into one story. They should instead just use one or two characters at a time from each story and tell us how they know our characters. They should have also made some of the stories older in the Enchanted Forest. For example, make a character be a known characters grand daughter just like Emma is Snow White’s daughter, instead of making all the characters be the same age. I also think they should have played around more with things like Dickens or Shakespeare.

I am not completely against unknown stories, but i don’t think they should focus on that. If they want to put a character from something less known that would be fine, but i do think that the attraction was that they were the characters we knew, from the fairytales we saw and read growing up. They are too disney now for sure. They are leaning too hard on those disney versions. The Frozen story was too much the same, as was the Brave story, but i still think that is where they should start even if the execution has been terrible.

I don’t think they should do stories that people don’t know in some way. That is the whole point of the show. To retell the stories we know. I do think that they should have done better by organizing the characters ahead of time, figuring out how characters could know each other. For example, Snow, Robin, Merida, King Arthur, are all archers and could have known each other that way. Or have the prince and princess know each other. Or magic users know each other, like Merlin know the Blue Fairy. I think if they had separated the characters from each story and just let us meet a few characters at a time, that would have been better. They did that in the first season by just letting us meet say the Hatter, but not the rest of the Wonderland characters I think it was a mistake to not continue that way. The way they are doing all the characters from a story all at once, doesn’t work.

I love young Snow’s outfit. It is almost her bandit outfit, but not quite there.

Is there really going to be a Zeus? I think i just keep hoping that it will just be Hades, but i guess that is unlikely. There is already a Hercules and a Meg and Cerberus and the Charon. I don’t know. I just really want then to keep the focus on the family and i just don’t care a single bit about Hades and his brother problems.

I would think they would just show Henry say goodbye to Violet as they go back to the Enchanted Forest.

The consequences may be that because they are sharing a heart that neither Emma or Hook can leave the Underworld. Then they have to find another way for Hook to leave and that can only happen by someone staying behind.

Rumpel even been off by himself in New York seems like bait. This show is so frustrating.

The supposed flash sideways that happened in the finale season of lost was not a flash sideways. A flash sideways is events happening at the same time in two different realms or realities. So on Ouat when Snow and Emma were in the Enchanted Forest and everyone else was in Storybrooke, that was a flash sideways. Nothing that happened on Lost was ever that. There were no other realms or alternate realities, there was no two places with the same but different characters. They were always flash forwards on that show of the same characters.

I don’t like Robin and find his screentime and Zelena’s to be a complete waste of time. Though i do find it completely ridiculous for them to spend all this time saving Hook to then have Regina lose Robin. This show is crazy.
