Well, since I’m twice his age, I’m not going to comment on hotness, but I will say he’s excellent. Not maybe people can go against Robert Carlyle, a man known for his eccentric roles, and come out the creepier one in the exchange. That takes talent. He’s really menacing. If they had miscast the role, it could have been a disaster. How can a teen be menacing to Rumplestiltskin? But it really works.

I still want her to do it, but I’m so conflicted now.
In most versions, including the Disney movie, it wasn’t her kiss that broke the curse, but her tears that saved him. Now it’s just a waiting game to see how it happens in Once…because you know it’s going to happen.
The ultimate twist would be if Rumple undid his own curse with self-forgiveness. He knows everything he does is wrong. He’s full of demons and insecurities. Maybe if he finally faces everything and comes out on the other side it could make his curse self-implode. Not going to happen, but it’s a different idea.

That’s a good insight, Keb. There has to be some reason that TLK worked for Charming in Storybrooke but not Rumbelle besides just the repeated saying, “Magic works different here.” He really might be holding a part of himself back. Look how it affected him the first time he thought Belle had died. It changed him, it destroyed him. He became unhinged and went into overdrive to invoke the curse. If he lets himself love her 100% what will happen if, or more to his way of thinking when she leaves him. Maybe he is still holding that part of himself back.
I’ve always wanted Belle to be the one to resurrect him after his “undoing” to mimic the story of “Beauty and the Beast” but part of me now is hoping it’s Nealfire who does it through his forgiveness. Somehow. I’m not flagging in my devotion to Rumbelle, but part of me thinks he has to deal with his demons about his father and Neal before he can fully commit to Belle.

Sorry, I just couldn’t resist. It is interesting what version of Belle this is actually going to be. I’ve finally convinced myself that “Vision Belle” is truly only a figment of Rumple’s imagination. I wonder what is really going on. This is going to drive me nuts.

So many SwanFire feels from this episode. Oh, Emma finally spewed out what she was feeling about Neal. I flailed, I twitched, water seeped from my eyes. It was heartbreaking.
