ParticipantI just absolutely, positively cannot get behind RegalCat. I just can’t and have a feeling that if it were to happen I’d never get behind it. There are some things on screen and in writing that I just can’t get over, and this would be one of them. (The most major one in literature we talked about the other day was Jo turning down Laurie in Little Women. I’m in denial and my version ended differently.) I’m sorry to those shippers who love the idea, but I would be more okay with Charming/Red getting together and I’m a major Snowing shipper. I don’t know why I feel this vehemently against RegalCat, but I do. *shrugs*
While I’m on the Regal Hood ship, I’d be okay with it being Eric or another sailor/pirate in Neverland. Just not Felix.

ParticipantI think that’s the biggest reason Once fandom is angry. The first season’s were beautiful, the second season’s were fantastic. This seasons are BLAH. What happened to the creativity the first two seasons? This is a fantasy/fairytale program. Show some creativity. You did it last year and it was fantastic.
If it’s just that they rushed the first batch of photos, then shame on ABC. They get the backlash they deserve. This isn’t their first rodeo. They should have planned better.

Participant-This was only one series of portraits shot for the show. The other sets/seamless shots felt much more organic, will be interesting to see what comes from those -In the case of this shoot, real criticism lies with the art/marketing department as the photographer is more like a general contractor, just making what they want to see
Yeah, “other set” meaning ones they’re currently re-shooting since the Thursday hullabaloo over the horrid original promo shots. Then they’ll pass them off as part of the original “4-day shoot”. I’m skeptical. 👿
It seems like we’re being trolled. Is ABC sending their people out onto the internet to try to stem the tide of negative publicity? What’s funny is PetaPixel is not a fandom site or even entertainment site, it’s a site specializing in photography. I only found it because I clicked the “news” tab on google when I was trying see if the media was saying anything about it. I wonder if that’s woken their eyes that even professionals were questioning the professionalism of the pictures.
It’s it’s true they actually spent four days on set doing this then I’m cynically inclined to believe that it was 3 days for Wonderland, half day for full cast of Once and half day for individuals. 😛

ParticipantI was just reading an article on a web from the photography website PetaPixel. The article quotes a photographer who posted the following on Reddit:
They were probably taken in a huge hurry by the IATSE set photographer (I’ve been that guy). Their official job is to shoot set stills but often the publicity department will try to wrangle him into shooting gallery stills for them.
It’s great when you have time to set it up and prepare properly (the photographer gets a pay bump for doing portraits) but way too often it’s done on the side of the set on an impromptu green screen with no lighting allowed (it’s a working set, additional lighting would interfere and flashes are strictly forbidden). It’s almost always done at the end of the day when the actor is tired and grumpy.
That was one theory. It’s interesting hearing the insight of people who work in the industry and what actually happens behind the scenes.
I have a feeling we won’t get new photos. They’ll wait until mid-season hiatus to redo them.

ParticipantSeriously, the amateurs are really doing so much better than the professionals. *shakes head* And those people have advanced design education and get paid for it.

ParticipantRG, you do realize that all the dwarves are colorful, but still taller than we are. 😉
Hmmm…so interesting. I like all the pics were getting lately. Makes up for the crappy promo pics.

ParticipantOh, I can see a huge sacrifice needing to be made to create the Dark One curse. Kind of how in Harry Potter Voldemort created a horcrux. Sadly, or awesomely depending how you look at it, everything can be compared to Harry Potter now. 😛

ParticipantBased on what I’ve read from tumblr, not many people liked the photos. The only good word I’ve heard was that Belle’s wasn’t terrible.
It’s interesting what this will mean. Has this ever happened to a fandom show before? The promo pics this widely disliked that they were pulled the same day as they were released?
It would be hilarious if TV Line, or whoever created the photos, posted “BAZINGA!” (gotta love Sheldon) and then posted the real ones…or that is just my little dream.

ParticipantMy first reaction was disappointment. The photos last year were so good. This year’s look they were taken with a background found at the Sears Portrait Studio. The only decent ones to me were Belle and Henry. The others just seemed…bad. Even my beloved Rumple just looks old and strange.
Last year’s were fun and creative and this year’s are just blah. I was so excited to see them. It seems lately that fandom artists come up with better marketing and artwork than the so-called professionals.

ParticipantMy dictionary also has the following definition for anthropomorphize:
treat nonhuman thing as human: to give a nonhuman thing a human form or human characteristics
So Ginny used it in the correct way for the first definition. Belle is someone who treats a beast as a man and loves her chipped cup.
I saw people criticize Emilie on tumblr because she used the word “fetiches” instead of “fetishes” in her response to Ginny. Emilie is correct. Fetiches is also a correct way to spell the word. I wish people would think before they type.
