In the past month (an estimate but I don’t want to dwell on the t-word), Neal has found out he’s a father, reunited unwillingly with his father, dealing with having his past lover who he still loves and his fiance both being in his life, betrayed and shot by said fiance, exchanged “I love you’s” with his former lover and then got sucked down a bean hole for the second time in his life. I really don’t think he’s going to set eyes on Mulan and think about her in a romantic way. She could, to borrow a quote from Ron Weasley, dance naked in front of him wearing a tea cozy and all he could would think about is getting back to Emma and Henry.

The first thing I thought when reading the summary of is “Oh, crap, there goes the FireWarrior shippers.”  My second was, “They get to meet Ariel’s sisters!”  🙂

Some people are so entrenched in Mulan/Shang.  I’ve never seen Mulan.  Is he that great of a character?

On a tangent…I have seen almost every Disney movie ever made, both animated and live action.  I have no idea how Mulan slipped out of my clutches.

I won’t watch the medical drama, after years of ER and Chicago Hope I’m burnt out on them.  I probably won’t watch the CW show, either.  Actually, I don’t think I’ve ever really been a fan of anything on the CW except Hart of Dixie and even that I quit watching after the first season.  I think they put it against something else I watch and it was sacrified and I just forgot about it.    I tend to forget CW actually exists.  On my cable system is up high in the listing and away from the other networks.

As for the influx of Oz stuff, last year it was Beauty and the Beast and Wonderland, which most of the pilots never got picked up.  This coming year looks like Oz is going to be in the spotlight.  I wonder if Networks might fare better bringing back the concept of miniseries.  I know cable shows do them, but rarely do Networks have them.  I grew up as a child of the 80s/90s and the big three always had miniseries.  They did musicals, fairytales, novels.   I think some of these fairytale projects would be better off as a miniseries.

The Oz series sounds a bit like Wicked, in that it’s from the opposite point-of-view and looks at Dorothy in a different light.  There are a lot of Wicked fans, both book and musical, so it will be interesting if it gets picked up how they were view this show.  But it’s unlikely that I will watch it.

HE, the show is called Once Upon a Time, not the Snow and Charming Show.  It’s an ensemble show, which means your favorite isn’t always going to be the focus.  Characters come and go, stories change. Any of the hour-long running shows that have stayed current and high in the ratings for a long period of time have been ensembles (ER, Grey’s Anatomy) or follow a formula (Law & Order).

If they put RC in a rig I may die of laughter.

*sings* Think of a wonderful thought!

Age is but a number. I have no problem with age differences, but then my favorite ship is Rumbelle. 😉

Egad! I’m not sure which Lana wants to show off more, her necklace or her bosom? Am I even allowed to post this picture on the forum?

Notice the smiley face on the necklace. Its right at an interesting place. 😉

I think it would be fascinating to explore how the curse affected others. It wouldn’t be shocking to find out that some of the residents of Storybrooke like their cursed life and wish to not give up that part of themselves.

Speaking of which, I recently amended my endgame headcanon. I previously had them living in FTL in their castle called Tallahassee. I’ve added to that that their home will be a foster home, and will be big enough to accommodate every orphaned/abandoned child in FTL, and Emma and Neal, who both grew up alone and longing for family, will end up having the biggest, most loving family there ever was. (Saw a thing on TV the other day about a couple who have fostered a couple hundred kids over the years, and naturally it got me thinking about Once.)

This actually brought a little tear to my eye. Having either/both end up fostering children is quite fantastic. So far we’ve seen the foster system as this evil entity. It would be nice to see the positive side. Based on their background I think they’d be wonderful foster parents.

PoM, I like your rationalizing.  And it makes a bit of sense.  They set Graham up as a potential major character, including him in all promo shots, publicity and the like, and then killed him off in Episode 7.   They did show that nobody was safe.  J.K. Rowling did the same thing with Cedric Diggory in book 4 for the same reason.

I think as an audience we’re all pretty cocky and sure that our favorite character is not going to get killed.  Rumple is going to his “undoing” yet not one fan believes he’s going to die.   And like you said, Belle has been tortured so much that it would be a real shame to just kill her off now.

I hate to admit this, but if they wanted to ax a character it’d make most sense to be Ruby.  Meghan’s on another show, she’s only been used conveniently and not well in the last season, and she’s a part of Snowing’s inner circle.  Her death would affect everyone.

Back to Hook, maybe he’ll take on the role of Sydney Carton (Snape also pulled a Carton).  Anyone who has read A Tale of Two Cities knows of the character’s sacrifice in the end for the greater good.  He wasn’t a nice man or a good man, but in the end he did something extraordinary.

I don’t want to sound Anti-Hook, because I’m not really anymore…or at least I’m working on it, but that list sounds like from the Hook-loving network press at ABC.  They’re really pushing him.  Sometimes I do wonder why they don’t market this show better and wonder why they’ve picked Hook as the angle to go at.  Fandom wise Regina and Rumple have a bigger fanbase.   Hook is big, but he doesn’t compare yet to Evil Regals or Dearies.

    So my take:

    1. He Knows What it Means to Lose the One You Love.
RG said, they all have lost someone they love, so this doesn’t float.

    2. He May Not Even Be the Least Trustworthy Crew Member.
They’ve all got trust issues and problems.  It’s hard to tell who the least trustworthy is, but they are all there for the same purpose.

     3. He Knows How to Play Rough.
While Snowing does go by a moral code, I think Regina and Rumple know how to play rough, too.  No need to go into details–the whole series so far has demonstrated this.

    4. He Won’t Give Up.
Snowing’s catchprase is “I will always find you.”  Regina has harbored a vendetta against Snow for decades, and Rumple had been after his son for hundreds of years.  And Emma and Regina are in Mama Bear mode.  Nothing is going to stop them.

    5. He Will Straight-Up Shoot Somebody in the Back.
With the exception of Snowing, all of them would do this if it served their cause.

    6. He Knows How to Work with Others.
Out of the whole bunch, I’d say Snowing were the best examples of people who can work with others without resorting to murder.  The others don’t know how to share their toys.

    7. He’s Been There Before and it’s His Bloody Ship!
It is his ship, but Rumple and probably Regina have been there.  And who knows if Neal is coming, too.  All of those characters have a history with Neverland.

So really, these qualities can probably be rationalized to apply to all of them on the ship.
